You also have to beat this boss named “Malenia” she’s the blade of miquealla and required for dlc. I swear
Cheaky lol
inb4 if you beat the dlc before malenia you get a special cutscene when going against her
@@iota-09 But will you get a special cutscene in the DLC if you've beaten Malenia? 🤔
@@Gakulon v['-']v
No you don’t…
Highly recommend anyone with spare levels to invest a little in Faith and get Flame, Cleanse Me. GOAT spell, clearing both Poison and Rot as well as removing Frostbite because of the *tiny* amount of self-fire damage it does. Indispensable IMO
Edit: Also, bringing a big chunky weapon trivialises basically any fight with regular dudes because you can just stunlock them down with very little they can do on their part.
or just invest in boluses, you shouldn't even need that many to begin with
@@Ghorda9 but that leaves you high and dry for both rot and frenzy since as of now they’re a finite resource unless you dupe. idk why in the world from forgot to let you buy those and hopefully it’s rectified in the DLC
@@ClydeNut again, you don't need that many at all, you can also farm sacramental buds from around the plague church

It's also worth mentioning to kill the Bell Bearing Hunter at the Hermit Merchant's Shack to buy an infinite amount of some of the boluses, including the stimulating boluses as we got a preview of a sleep swamp in the original DLC trailer. (The BB Hunter only spawns at night)
Based scott with the 2 week early build advice
I would also suggest having a lot of upgrade materials prepared.
You will find a lot of new weapons in the dlc and it will feel much better to use them if you can upgrade it to +10 or +25 right away without having to come back to the main game and grind for it!
Really hoping the new equipment is a good enough mix up to get us more narrated duels
I found your channel thru the initial Elden Ring videos, and stuck around once you returned to DBD because even though I don’t know anything about that game I found your approach to it super entertaining. Very glad to see you back for SotE!
Also you baited us so hard with the armored guy vs naked guy lol
Armor has been shit tier since DS2.
@@CaptToilet Which is a good thing because there's nothing worse than being forced to wear an armor that you dont like the look of because it's optimal stat-wise. And yes im aware that you can always choose not to wear said armor anyway, but it's an easier choice when it's not a clearly huge difference
@@OblivionZX Honestly at that point just get rid of stats all together for the armor. No weight requirements or defense values. Just go pure fashion souls. I would be fine with that, just don't put numbers on an armor set and they barely do anything.
@@CaptToiletI'd argue that only DS1 had useful armor because of how busted poise was. Demon's Souls armor at a point becomes next to worthless for example since poise wasn't even a thing iirc and the damage numbers from enemies spike significantly in the later stages of each Archstone.
One thing about DS2, and Elden Ring too actually, is they have a lot of utility armor. Whether they give stat boosts, increase or negate certain damage, passive effects, etc. which existed but to a much lesser degree in the other games.
“Fashion souls”
Thanks Scooter, the advice is much appreciated.
Hey scott. Love your content for years. Thanks.

Hey Scott, I'm curious if you're ever gonna play dark and darker. I just remember you making a video about it a while ago anyways can't wait for more elden ring vids.
Do some existing NPC's ever have their questlines expanded upon or otherwise return in the DLC's of previous Souls games?
I killed a certain NPC on accident and wanna know if it's worth going through all of NG+ to revive them before the DLC comes out in case they have more to their questline inside the DLC itself.
expanded on yes, but they don’t modify the base quest. princess dusk in DS1 for example is present in the Manus arena but she can still be summoned in the darkroot basin (ostensibly because of time travel shenanigans)
Where can I find the crafting recipe for the blouse that reduces scarlet rot, and also what are some good ranged weapons to use ?
eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Armorer's+Cookbook+(6)
Honestly any bow, greatbow, or crossbow works. They all have pretty similar damage and are mostly just tools to apply things like rot arrows, etc.
jar cannon is good if you can afford the stats because all the good ammo for it can be easily purchased from merchants (guy on mt. gelmir sells explosive ones, guy in the mountaintops sells lightning ones)
Otherwise get yourself a pulley crossbow
This is absolutely because peeve got one shot by godfrey's grab and scott didnt
Thanks scoot
Good video
hating fextralife but still using the wiki is the true fromsoft experience
Not sure If I want to experience it first on my RL 125 or my RL 34 +2
Good advice probably
Rule Number. 5 - never give up - LITERALLY. The biggest satisfaction in these games is when you beat the boss you’re stuck on for some time. Keep adapting to the bosses but do NOT completely trivialize them
I say you shouldnt write off the scorpion charms if you are basing your build entirely around one of their damage types. Elemental spells and weapon skills can really take off and stomp through the game when you fully invest into them
I always mess up my first build for a new game/content, and I'm going for INT, so just don't do that and you'll be fine. Every single boss will have 99% magic resistance just cause I'm that unlucky.
Yay
the alternative route is to skip from godrick to mohg and then go right to the dlc at level 50
so just collect everything and level everything to 99. Got it :)
is lvl 150 okay?
Instructions unclear, character stuck in ng+5
I am going in with rune level 80. Lol
I dont want to create a build where pvp activity dies down 4 months after the release.
I like Scott's content even when he's just chasing internet hype with dead by daylight videos.
Have I played hundreds or thousands of hours in Fromsoft games with multiple no-death or level 1 runs achieved across all of their Souls games and Elden Ring? Yes
Did I watch this video anyways just to see what it was saying? Yeah.
You aren't tricking us - you're just trying to manipulate the pvp meta.
You mentioned that you hate fextralife, that referring to the website or the ytber? And why so?
he's really just a casual that makes content, his builds are almost always bad. also the site took forever to load basic information at launch so its a very slow wiki. understandable cuz its a small team there, but for the source wiki for most games, unacceptable. also they auto play their stream on the site for every page, inflating their view count on twitch.
Terrible ass builds, terrible ass gameplay, terrible twitch embed page
Why do you hate the wiki page?

Why do you hate fetxtralife?
yeah, this would be the greatest experience ever. no need to remember movesets, no need to learn the game, just tank through. why do all these people say that morgot is like one of the best soulsborne bosses ever? you can just oneshot him while he doesn't do any damage, so not that much different to a target dummy. be sure to bring some kind of a powerful spirit summon to ensure your domination.
unfortunately the game is a little bit too monotonous for a god gamer good enough to be able to press L2 for 100 hours :(
Got over 10k hours in souls games but had to watch anyways. One more big tip, if you kill an invader or host if you’re invading remember to point down at them once they’ve been defeated.
I just hope the bosses are fun to fight 1v1 like ds3 nameless king or Gael. I love ER but the bosses aren’t fun
Yeah the bosses just need a tweak to allow for some time to punish.
Skill issue
@@PointlesslyNecessaryConvos how do they not have time to punish?
The bosses are punishable, you are supposed to sneak hits in between the combos
Doesn't mean most of them are fun tho, the game is so skewed towards "just stand back and spam projectiles" that bosses aren't fun to fight melee, or ranged at that
I must enjoy playing souls differently, not that I hate vigor, just going anywhere past 40 and using anything but melee items and no spirits just seems like taking the souls out of souls.
The opposite actually
Why does he hate fextralife? I want to know more about this lol
It’s not a good website for what it’s intended for. It’s riddled with ads and sometimes has extremely incorrect information with no one fixing it.
In the more diehard corner of Souls fans, Fextra is generally considered a very low quality website. You get lots of fan theories getting posted as if they're hard canon. A good example of the general silliness that comes from Fextra is the dubbing of the Springhare in ER as a "Rabbitgaroo", when they were corrected on it the mods would routinely change the name back, despite Springhare's being a real animal. They also bloat their streams by having a built-in player that's very distracting. For an example of what's considered a better wiki, look into the Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls wikidot.
Probably the whole view-botting on twitch controversy. Basically, since they embed their stream on their website sidebar, opening fextralife also opens their twitch stream. Due to the amount of people with at least one fextralife tab open at any given time, they get pushed to the top of the list for nearly any game they're streaming, even if very few people are actively watching the stream. They also had a pretty hostile reaction for being called out about that
yeah pretty much their wiki articles are half of the time written in first person with subjective takes which makes no sense on a wiki. they also cheated the entirety of how twitch works by embedding their streams in a tiny box on every fextralife page so they would have tens of thousands of fake viewers. twitch finally fixed embeds and then mysteriously fextralife stopped streaming entirely.
Fextralife is known for basically view-botting on twitch by implementing their stream on the wiki page in a tiny window.
This way, since there are always people browsing the wiki, not looking at the stream at all, whenever he's streaming he automatically has the highest viewcount and prevent other creators from ever really getting promoted by twitch.
Seeing how much damage you took at 70% reduction just really makes me miss how armor used to function. DS1 might be jank by todays standards, but if you dressed like a tank, you took it like a tank.
Luckily this game lets you do insane amounts of damage by dual wielding bonks, so nothing will ever get a chance to hit you. Issue solved.
Just wondering why you hate Fextra?
I’m out of the loop so I hardly know anything about them besides having useful info sites for games.
fextra had a shitton of misinformation when elden ring came out and for a good while after, like that myth that holy heals the elden beast. they also embed their streams into the webpages, tanking performance and boosting their viewcount artificially. twitch stopped views from embeds working, but that doesnt stop the website performance from tanking from the stream and the 3 video ads running at once, and the 2 banner ads restrict viewing space to half your screen. their website also has the slowest search function ive ever seen personally.
to top it all off, fextra is trying to kill other wikis by paying google for sponsored search results, meaning they always top the search of any relevant game when you look up for a wiki. paying google to show everyone how much misinformation you tout is quite the play, i must admit.
@@dukeoog5466 well that explains it
@@dukeoog5466any alternatives you can recommend? Fextra has always been the defacto place where I search for anything for any souls game
Thanks for the video alert youtube dogshit website
Still with this 125 nonsense, even FromSoft agrees 150 is reasonable. 150 has been the meta since day 1.

Comparing that item to Golden Seeds when in reality they are Souls of a Giant straight out of Dark Souls 2 is so stupid. Call the shitty mechanic what it is, a piece of shit designed to control how you play the game because they don't want you to play your way they want you to play their way.
huh? It's an across-the-board damage reduction and damage boost. It's not selectively buffing a stat or something. How is that promoting how they WANT you to play??? It's literally like the Sekiro permanent boosts. It helps you keep up but you dont have to even use them
"bwaaaaa bwaaaaa people are not forced to fight this stupid not balanced game bwaaaaaaa"

Buff stacking has to be one of the worst additions to the souls series.
Your content is solid. You did however stop uploading Elden ring content. How should the community trust your insights after being gone for so long. There are other UA-camrs whom have stayed with it and this feels a bit like chasing the hype.
I'm usually pretty good with not speaking about things I don't know about. I spent countless hours looking at datamined numbers to get the most accurate information possible about whatever I was making a video on. That being said, everything I've discussed here has been the exact same as it was 2 years ago. The main thing I am not clear on is how the new poise/hyperarmour system works in ER and so I will not comment on any of that.
"Chasing the Hype" also is kind of insulting. my entire channel's existence is thanks to Dark Souls. I stopped making Elden Ring Content because I used everything in the game, i actually had no idea what else to make a video on anymore.
"Reee youre not a true fan how dare you speaaak"

Lmao it's over 2 years and I still see people with no vigor.
Whats so bad about fextralife, I've always seen them as reliable, and they dont spam ads as much as say, Fandom, for example.
