The Stormveil Shanker - Elden Ring

- Опубліковано 28 бер 2022
- Today I asked and answered the question: Can you make a true Rogue archetype in Elden Ring PVP, killing only with critical hits and stealth? Kind of.
-Black Knife Armor makes you silent while moving.
-Concealing Veil Talisman makes you invisible while crouching at a distance.
-Trick Talismans change your phantom color.
-Misericorde has the highest critical modifier in the game

I have been hiding in a bush for
I invaded an AFK farmer in Liurnia - no lie - five damn times in a row. He's up on a cliff where you just can't get to him.
After 4 pointless invasions I'd had enough. I decided that this host wouldn't get a single rune more from me. So when hunters showed up, I ran away and put on the mimic's veil in a bush. And I hid there. The bush enfolded and protected me.
Eventually the hunters gave up and disconnected, but I couldn't disconnect or the host would get runes. So I opted to remain in the bush.
That was three hours ago. Since then, I've seen entire generations of hunters and invaders come and go, and throughout it all, I've remained in the bush. The bush is my home now. I'm not coming out. You can't make me come out.
I've been AFK farming the AFK farmer. Every time a hunter gets killed or disconnects, I get runes and a furled finger. And the host is going to come back to fewer runes than he was expecting, because one of his invader slots is being permanently taken up by me, crouching in my bush.
I like it in here. There are rocks and leaves and sometimes a bug flies by to keep me company. If you invade an AFK farmer and have some time on your hands, I fully recommend doing this, but you have to pick a different bush. This one is mine.
Define dedication:
You are my new favorite person
So how did the story end, did the host give up? Or are you still waiting to this day.
@@cheesemancer7039 they eventually came back and realised they had gotten no ruins, so disconnected.
@@DubuyuW that is the best story ive ever read and i commend your for your dedication
This is canonically how the Night of the Black Knives happened in the lore lol
Did they say “shanked, we out” as well?
@@WinstonOfDojima I sure hope so
"Godwyn stand still and show your back to me, you bitch" - actual quote from the Black Knives
yeah but there's like 8 of them
This is random but I had a dream about how the Night of the Black Knives went about, Godwyn received a letter from Ranni talking about a problem they must settle, he walked into a circular room with a hole in the middle with moonlight peering through, Melina jumped down and moments after the black knives surrounded Godwyn. After that I woke up
5h of stream
12 backstabs
100% worth it
thats quite a lot actually, considering time it takes to find lobbies between
@@bigmoist423 yeah invasions are a disaster right now, I probably get DC at least half the time I try and invade
@@bigmoist423
Takes me 30 seconds at most to get an invasion going.
Maybe it's because I invade at 30-60, that range seems pretty active.
@@Z7Games 70-90 in altus or leyndell takes 1 minute minimum :(
I get invaded Everytime I coop within minutes. Super anoying.
BTW, Assassins Gambit and Soft Cotton completely remove your puddles from walking on water AFAIK. You should give it a try
does that ash of war work with daggers?
It does work on daggers
But Assassin's gambit injures you which flashes your health bar on screen for them so I don't think that's quite a good idea
@@kabrozkabroz As an invader you have to be pretty close and they have to be facing your direction
Thanks for the soft cotton tip!
When you were leaving the items and then got the backstab, I'm crying.
Fell for the oldest trick in the book LMAO
Don't cry bro
Bruh that was so nostalgic to see that. I need to play ds1 again.
@@korb3757 thats why i loved it tbh lmfao made me think of the good ole days
Once I found rubbish on the ground in ds1 when there had been nobody in my game, kinda freaked me out ngl.
9:08 was a golden moment
Perfectly cut.
Turns out Elden Ring is actually a stealth game with A.I. so good some people actually think you're invading a real human!
Well said, lol.
unfortunately there's a weird bug where the AI generated builds almost always have Moonveil or Rivers of blood.
@@skawt24 implying they aren't afk in an inaccessible location to farm runes and arcs.
@@skawt24 accurate to the player base
@@skawt24 That's funny cause there really are a couple of spots with npc enemies that are copies of player's builds when you're online, like the great jar duelists, and like half of those end up being RoB/Moonveil users
Some say he is still waiting behind a box behind a wall behind a grace to this day, waiting to shank the host.
*Lock your doors, Stormveil residents. The Stormveil Shanker skulks in our midsts.*
oh hi tk, it's me
Storm veil is one of the most well crafted legacy dungeons.
It just has soo much.
Everything after stormviel is kinda underwhelming after starting so strong. I get the game is more open but we are severely lacking good invasion and PvP areas. Hopefully they turn those colosseums into PvP arenas
@@TH3G3RM4NGUY I like Lenyendel its basicly upgraded Anor Londo
@@IchKomentiereNur123 problem with leyndell is you can just parkour over the entire rooftop area and skip half the level.
@@ordinarytree4678 i guess but you would miss alot of good items that way
Sadly Stormveil is the very first FromSoft area I ever blind speedran through on first playthrough without stopping, fighting or looting anything, and it wasn’t the last. The hawks and the banished knights made me so bitter, bored and frustrated with the whole experience that it burned the fun of exploring a new area straight out of me, and I actively chose to ignore the whole level out of spite.
Not pictured: Having half the attempts either immediately disconnect, or even worse, disconnect after half an hour of meticulous stalking. The biggest enemy wasn't the funky backstab hitbox, or the overleveled summons that don't scale correctly, but From physically pulling Snot Jaundice out of the world.
Alt+F4 is the strongest pvp spell
I've never had connection errors in invasions that I've been in for a prolonged period of time where the only reason isn't that the host pulled the plug.
@@notan3144 Oh no, there's a serious issue going on somewhere. There are tons of people who can't Co-op or participate in any of the multiplayer, getting dropped within a few minutes, or dropping as soon as they enter boss arenas. While I have no doubt DC Gamers are alive and well, there's a netcode issue going on as well.
@@radski_fives It's probably got something to do with the lack of localised matchmaking. Me and my friend never have connection issues until some random dude with a slavic name and latency through the roof joins. More often than not we'll then get a connection issue
@@radski_fives Yep, we've had the disconnections too.
I’d accidentally counter this build because I have a problem where I just mash lock on at random times
I do the same to quick-center my camera.
I have lock on my mousewheel, for that exact reason.
It’s called crippling paranoia from all the other games in the series
concealing veil prevents lock on.
Good to see ya genuinely having fun again man, p.s. where lobster grab clip lol 😆
that horseshit is getting its own video
@@ScottJund Now I gotta see it haha
@@ScottJund 🎵 just dodge through it 🎵

For honor man
Stormveil Shenanigans are so much fun. Stealthing around backstabbing people, shooting them with cannon of haima, kicking people off of ledges. . . Stormveil Castle is my favorite place to invade in this whole game.
Same here it is one of the few areas that plays like Dark Souls and lots of different routes you can take. What I was disappointed in was how I loved the area so much and throughout the whole game didn't find a better area to invade. It sucks cause it is such a low level area.
What trick talisman do you use so it doesn't show you as red? There are two Trick Talismans you can buy in Roundtable Hold, but I don't know which one to use.
@@MaicoMoon I think it is furled finger's trick mirror. One will not change you at all as a host because you already look normal(this is the ring you want to use as an invader) The one that turns you orange will make you orange in other worlds. In short use the one that does not turn you orange.
@@TH3G3RM4NGUY Redmane is good but Stormveil is just so fucking big
@@TH3G3RM4NGUY haligtree and farum are relatively similar, so are bits of raya lucaria.
Hey Scott me and my friend tested the distance on the invisibility of the talisman that makes you invisible at a distance and its actually a lot closer than you'd think. You can basically be a little bit closer than lightning bolt attack range
Invis talisman and ranged attacks has literally been some of the most fun. It drives them crazy and they never know where you're gonna attack from next.
Can the sentinel's torch negate this effect somewhat?
I think it's about lock on range. I've noticed people seem to see me around that range
@@GhostVanguard Memory serving, that is where it was in DS3, or a bit shorter than max lock on range, so that would make a lot of sense.
@@EnsignEpic I think the key is to invade and chill. Let other people invade too, die, the party gets nice and comfy, then strike
I'm glad it seems so many people have had the idea to run stealth invasion builds here lol. Great to see so many people having fun.
The fucking bloodhound step spam after backstabbing people, really is a black knife cosplay. Whole thing must be so confusing for the guy getting invaded
4:13 just dodges every attack like nothing and then parries the guy coming from nowhere lmao that was badass. you're a beast.
Can't usually catch the streams so it's great you're showing these hilarious builds here. Keep up the good shit
Average day in London.

Weird... The one guy I didn't expect any content like this from is making this content, and the others I was really excited to see make content like this are dead silent... Hey, at least someone's doing it! Thanks for sharing, Scott!
I've tried doing invasions with this tallisman but the effect seems super inconsistent.
Sometimes they'll be walk right past me and not see me, other times they'll immediately see me from 2 miles away.
It'd be nice if it had at least some indication of the effective distance or whether you are actively invisible or not.
I haven't tried the talisman, but the hidden form sorcery and assassin's gambit ash give you a buff that shows when they're active.
Snake what happened? Snake? Snaaaake!
Please more stealth invasions. This was so fun to watch
This man is out here playing Assassin’s Creed. Fr tho that stormveil shank where that one guy happened to notice you was so crisp. The way you killed him and then immediately snuck off was great
Pls do more of these stealth vods they are so funny lol
Just want you to know that I spent like 6 hours getting a copy cat of this together and it has been genuinely pretty fun. The whole gimmick just makes every time I actually do win feel really good. I added the Black Knife for if the fishing goes bad and Golden Parry to crutch since for some reason I cannot for the life of me make even a buckler work.
Just you making this video improved invasions for me. Thanks.
What level range and talismans did you end up using? I’m thinking about doing the same thing, getting to mountaintop might be tricky at a low level but still doable
@@mrolson0603 I am level 30. There are easy cheese methods to get yourself over to Godfrey and have your four talismans. If you want to get over to the Haligtree Path part of the Mountaintop of Giants google up "Mountaintop of Giants Marika Stake Skip" then just run over and get the armor.
I went ahead and got Radagon's Soreseal for the stats, Dagger Talisman is required of course. The other two are up to you really. Infused the Misericorde with lightning, pumped dex and also use the Black Bow. It's a fun gimmick overall! Highly recommend putting Golden Parry on something too as even buckler parry if you need it is incredibly inconsistent in the current state of the game. Good luck!
@@Amrylin1337 Quick Question, what did you upgrade your weapon to? I also made a similar build to the one in the video, but I have no idea how much he upgraded his dagger, so I just went with +3.
@@fishstyx5939 +3 normal, +1 Somber
Another idea, you could use the dagger talisman for even more damage on the backstabs.
Yeah this stream was a blast to watch, good to see it got a lengthy highlight
Should do this again but next time try dropping those glass shards in places to make them stop
The music added such a nice touch hahaha.
Id like to do a modification of this but more for Defending Host and more aggressive and quick kills on my target... taking it from less of a Sneaky Rogue/Backstab Assassin and more of a Quick Aggressor that can work around opponents with bigger and scarier weapons and poise
I'm so confused. I thought that the armor would bug out the concealing veil talisman, making you NOT invisible? AM I wrong about this?
This is the best content I've watched since your NTDs taught me how to PVP years ago. Cheers, you sneaky bastard.
9:07 Dude who are these people, how does someone fall for that so easily lol
People who never played a soul before ahah
Literal NPCs
This was a lot of fun. Please do this again
this is the content i love, the damn invasions
I've been doing this in Altus and the capital for the last couple of hours..
Crazy fun.
Thanks for the idea!
Ah. The London Lurker strikes again!
That rock drop into backstabbing was giga brain
Curious about the stats + Starting class + Weapon Level + Rune level. Seems fun to try out.
EDIT: RL30 just noticed on end.
EDIT 2: Just check his stream for the build! It's at the start of it.
POV: you're a spider who just walked into someone's living room and is watching the human cautiously trying to find you.
Hey Scott! This looks epic, what level is this account you did this on? I feel like getting all those items would be a nightmare
They can see buffs on your body, like that healing, so its not just the ripples they see
Be wary of edge,
lord!
I was so excited about a dnd video when I saw a 5e rogue on the thumbnail lmao
9:00 comedy gold. the ultimate mix up
This gives me the same vibes that a Mugger in GTA Online does.
You already know I'm going to try this on my Sl 20 pvp
The clip where you gift the host items 😂😂
I think this is just what I'm gonna do every invasion from now on.
Hey would someone here test for me if you can still be seen with the invisibility talisman when you use Great Lion Bow weapon art? Cause you "crouch" when you use it. I want to know if you can be in weapon art form and still be unseen.
That thumbnail is sick, I love it
Mimic Veil would be a great addition to this
this is literally the tf2 spy build lmao thats so awesome
man of culture
There was no reason to add "literally" there. All it did was make you look stupid.
@@Gankstomper i was like you once, thinking that people who said literally in the wrong context were stupid. i was in the 8th grade then, i hope you grow up one day and realize that literally nobody gives a shit.
Amazing... loving this off-meta kick you're on
This actually sounds like a really fun idea might have to try this on my sl20 character.
Just out of curiosity, did you have someone drop you the black knife set, or did you get all the way to the consecrated snowfields at level 30? Cuz the idea of the latter is kind of blowing my mind a little. Either way, hilarious!
oh no i absolutely had someone drop it. i could have used the stake of marika skip but honestly ive made like 4 separate builds in 4 days and im drained
@@ScottJund Yeah I was thinking of that too, but that would still leave you at least killing morgott for the lift to mountaintop of the giants though. Anyway, don't forget to take care of yourself!
@@ScottJund how do you invade without red around you
@@zs1570 You can get to mountaintops of giants at level 1 with no great runes by using flying horse glitch on Altus. I’ve done it twice. And you can get to Consecrated Snowfield from there by stake of Marika glitching.
@@maxregni9229 It's an item.
Some stealth builds are kinda crazy I made a video about 2 weeks ago more like a semi montage of using the golems greatbow and assassins gambit and it ended up working super well with the long range invisibility and one shot capability at lower levels, it doesn't work all the time but when it does it makes you feel incredibly evil. I recommend giving it a try!
might have to try a build out in stormveil, it seems like a super fun area to sneak around.
might have to go with a cannon of haima build, ngl.
I was working on an overworld version of this in Liurnia. Ffffuck Scott thats two of my pranks in a row between this and the sniper
Lmao I been using this trinket since day 1 bro! Loooove it. Can I ask what lvl and stats you are at for invasions ? I'm at lvl 80 for my one character and I think its to high already :(
Bro honestly this has inspired me to try this. This looked crazy fun. Any consideration into splashing faith just for the invisibility spell?
Dude this is hilarious, great job
Backstabs needs some tender loving care this time
Lmfao this guy has the funniest fucking builds. That and the albinauric sniper have me rolling.
Ah the legendary Caelid Cutthroat
This seems to be the one way to have fun with invasions lol
I've been just invading with regular non-tryhard (aka no bleed/ss/katana etc.) builds and it's been 80% cancer, even at level 20.
I'm honestly surprised whenever i see any phantoms who don't dual wield some kind of katana, usually rivers of blood + hand of malenia or moonveil.
Katana users are typically dex based or hybrid. So try using some high burst builds against them and don't give them the long engagement. Especially with bleed, you'll lose it every time. I have seen people running some strength and hybrid builds with colossal weapons. They are slow and get shredded if caught, but they can pancake and kill enemies in like one or two hits. Makes it a really funny game of chicken.
yea man, makes me so sad we cant invade solo hosts anymore so now even more people are just waiting to get invaded to gank, then when they win by spamming moonveil, stars of ruin & rivers of blood they teabag
I'm a DS3 PVP vet and at level 30 invading in elden ring I have found the exact same thing, the vast overwhelming majority are Omega tryhards 3v1 with 3 RoB or 2 and a never ending spell spammer. Then when they win they teabag you like they think they actually have skill. Fucking trash players.
@@philipfahy9658 doesnt matter at low levels, since scaling for low level invasions is fucky and they'll instableed with one swing. Meanwhile your attacks will poke for 150 dmg at a time at the 1500 hp poise monster.
Caelid really is just Resident Evil meets Duck Hunt
love your content! How do you got the black knife set so early?
As a tip pay attention to how they're swinging, If they're locked on (And MANY were) They can't see you while rolling back towards lol lol The camera is locked to the target
Hey, what plus level is your dagger at for these invasions?
whats the ideal level and upgrade level to invade stormveil castle?
Oh my god.
Blood hound step.
Jund created the monster that now plagues him.
So is there something special with the attire that makes him harder to see or are these people deff
I jumped at the nine minute shank. Hilarious recovery.
I just started a dex playthrough and this looks like fun. What's a good place to stop leveling your weapon at RL 30. Like +4?
+3 & +1 somber
Very busy, but you'll get bunch of scaled down phantom & river of bloods
Its pretty balanced
yup
Just let you know I did some testing with my riposte dagger on my SL80 build and fire infusion did the best damage even on a quality build.
This is unreasonably tense
What rune level and weapon upgrade for stormveil castle?
Waiting for a mimic veil snake build.
The place to backstab a mimic veil land squirt is the same place to critical hit a real one!
I’m gonna have to make this build when I get the chance
This game honestly needs co-op invasions.
Even if it's just taunters tongue avaliable, but preferably not.
Imagine if you summon two phantoms the game opens you up to co-op invasions. Where a duo can invade and coordinate these strukes on you.
I'd level up characters just to cosplay co-op invade with a friend.
Limitless potiental:
- Godskin Duo
- Okina and a disciple
- Fia and a dragon-knight (black dragon)
- Godrick and Godfrey
- Godfrey and Horoah Loux
- Melania and Radahn (enemies turned friends)
- Ranni and Rennaila
- Blaidd and Ranni
- Commander Niall and a Banished Knight
- Hoslow brothers
- Roderika and a loyal soldier
Even Dark Souls staples like Ornstein and Smough could come back to cosplay relevance. Let alone all the non-cosplay but themed builds like the one here (although it's basically a Black Knife Cosplay)
Nailed the music choice
have you considered using fake grace or glass shards to fake items and get people to stand still for back stabs?
I would scream in terror if I got backstabbed like that.
Backstabbing that host when he was picking up the ruin fragments had me dying of laughter. He fully trusted you after dropping him that silver foot and then you do him like that😂🤣
After rewatching it it’s even funnier when you dropped the silver foot his friend stood up just in case you were going to do something, but since you didn’t do anything his reaction time was much slower when you actually did backstab the host 😂
9:05 The fuggen BM man hahahaha
I don't know if it was you but yesterday we got invaded in stormveil castle by someone playing the same stealth assassin build and kept teleporting around when we managed to survive his first attacks. I've never had such fun, knowing that we were being chassed, that the invader could be lurking in every dark corner. At the end we managed to trap him in a dead end and finished him off using gravity stone chunks, those that do a cone aoe attack, he couldn't dodge those.
Can someone explain how the stealth aspect of this build works?
Loved the item drop one lol
What about a build with all armor sets and you try to pretend being the host or a helping phantom by switching to the same armor. A little bit like agent 47 is doing it in the Hitman Games
What Weapon Reinforcement and Level were doing this at?
4:12 Why does he ask for him to do a rolling attack? Does he not know you can parry ultra's if one-handed?
Dude! I havent even seen the vid yet but I got invaded by Stormveil Shanker awhile ago! Hope I see myself in this vid lol
What Were your levels and upgrades for this?
What weapon was the other dude using at 6:40?
ive also been rocking a stealth build and ive been a lot more successful with it than in ds3 (maybe cause it was later in the games lifespan?) anyways glad to see a fellow stealth enjoyer
also isn't there a charm that boosts critical attacks?
