  • In this video, my roommate and I will be reacting to our very first watch of "The Mist" from 2007. This was a subscriber poll winner, and a great one that terrified her!
    ABOUT:
When a mysterious mist, and the supernatural creatures within, falls across their town in the wake of a violent storm, a group of local citizens must fend for themselves while trapped inside a local supermarket. They soon begin to realize that the real danger. may not be from the monsters outside, but from tension and mistrust within. Based on the novel by Stephen King.

Even the novel ending wasn't that dark, but Stephen King actually praised this heart breaking ending

Actually, the people in the supermarket may have been saved. Notice the direction where the military came out of the mist? Yeah, from the back. In other words, from the direction David and the others came.

The whole point of the film is how fear changes everything. This wasn't about survival, right, wrong, or morality. It was a showcase of human nature when faced with hopelessness, as represented by each archetype character (denial, arrogance, superstitious, etc). How fear of the unknown, or the uncertain, can fundamentally change what we take for granted, including within ourselves. I appreciate the film taking this point towards its most bleak conclusion. Otherwise the whole build up would have been a waste, and it would have been another Hollywood ending. I think is also worth noting that this wasn't just for shock value. It lead the audience, who tend to identify with the main character, to experience that breaking point, and succumb to what have been the struggle all along.

I've always really liked your guys' vibe! idk what it is but you seem like the kind of people I'd love to be friends with. I know I've heard you both mention that you are simply roommates in other videos, but I find your chemistry together, just friends or not, really refreshing and honestly, you two are ridiculously cute together! I apologize if that was too much to say but I just wanted to let you guys know that you are both so cute and I ship it 🧡🖤🤍 also great reaction once more, you deserve many more views but its nice to see you're just having a good time regardless of that sheet.
Edit: Now I've just read a bunch of other people's comments and they are all referring to my lady as "the Roommate" so I will just see myself out the door now. lo siento, mi amigos. lo siento 🤦‍♀🤷‍♀

The asshole that got "Sherman" killed didn't just cause it, he also just sat there terrified while the other 2 tried to help save him instead of going for the ax sooner

Frank Darabont, the director of The Mist prefers the black and white version of the film. The studio refused to let him release it in black and white at the theater.

Of course, now the studio loves it because they can charge extra for the 4K because they have an extra disc with the black and white version. 😊

David made a promise to his son that he wouldn't let a monster eat him no matter what. I don't think i could do it, even on that extreme circumstance. I have 3 kids and the thought of that crushes my heart. I say to myself if i were in that circumstance i would have waited at least until a monster or monsters were coming for us as you two said. I love the movie but the ending is just crushing. I do know for certain that as soon as those soldiers came up i would have grabbed their gun and done myself in. Ms. Carmody the religious nut is one of the greatest villains, you hate her so much. Ollie is one of the best characters, total unexpected badass.

This is a film about the loss of hope, while another film by Frank Darabont is about maintaining hope when all seems lost. That film being The Shawshank Redemption. The main character in this film loses hope and once loses hope, gives in to the situation around him.

“The glitter infection” that’s hilarious Roomie, my friend calls it “craft herpes” 😂 You’re correct Grave, that’s a painting of Roland from The Dark Tower series. Quote of the reaction “I think I officially hate everyone who picked this…that includes me, I’m pretty sure I picked this.” 😂 Poor Grave almost went deaf soon after that. 😂 Marcia Gay Harden did amazing as Mrs. Carmody because she made me hate every moment she was on screen. Apparently between the fire and bullwhip comments so did both of you. And to which I also say “Go Ollie!” Apparently Stephen King said in an interview that he actually thinks the movies ending is better than the ending he wrote (which you noted in the after review…sorry, I do notes as I’m watching so I don’t forget) Speaking of which he also said that the monsters from The Mist came from the Todash Space seen in The Dark Tower series (another connection) As for what I would do in this situation…I have no f’ing clue honestly. I was in the Army for 8 years but that was on an M1A1 Abrams Tank and I doubt one will be just laying about…also pretty sure you’d need a tank to have a hope of damaging that 4-legged Cthulhu thing. Of course with my luck that would get its attention rather than hurting it. Honestly the best plan I can come up with is to hole up with a small group with food and weapons and try and secure the area as best as possible.

I love this movie, and especially the ending. It's not your traditional happy Hollywood ending. It's shocking and tragic. I used to love watching reactions to the movie simply because I enjoyed sharing in the goosebumps with the reactors during the closing scene. But I've seen it so much, it no longer has that pull on me in that sense. Now, I love watching it because of the sheer humor I find in it when everyone realizes the mist is over, and monsters defeated... that he did it for nothing. When I saw your reaction up, I dropped everything just to see her reaction because I know how she feels about children 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 This is gonna be amazing to see her all up-in-arms over it! I'm still shocked that she hasn't something against abortion. She strikes me as someone that would be pro-choice... strikes me like I would love to strike a crying little brat with a baseball bat😂 😂 😂 just kidding 😉 😉 😉 more like a tire iron 😂 😂

No one should walk that lady home. You kidding me? She's a bad mother! It's her fault... leaving an 8 year old to babysit the younger one - who, by the way, forgets she's supposed to be watching her little brother. And to leave them alone right after a storm, and with no power in the house. No one should have to risk their lives for her stupidity, especially the soldiers. The military may have bigger issues they're needed for. It's crazy... she's worried about her little heathen brats now, but had no concern when she left 'em home alone.

The really messed up thing is, that nobody ever wants to admit is Mrs. Carmody isn’t wrong in this movie. Especially the ending. She said, “ the boy has to die, and we will be saved.” Well his son died, and the world was saved shortly afterwards.

    • @MacGuffinExMachina
      @MacGuffinExMachina 5 місяців тому +1

Bit the boy didn't have to die. That was thw whole poibt of the movie's ending, and the book ending is left vague. Carmody is a villain, and her being a religious nut is what leads to all the bad things happening. If they had just waited it out, they would've been safe.

    • @Brandon-yy5cc

    • @jwhite-1471

She wasn't right. The fog didn't lift the moment the boy died, it lifted long before, back wherever the column of military vehicles got started. They had people standing up in the top of the one vehicle, which is something they would never have done if they were driving through an area with monsters. It was clearly clear the whole way for the long line of vehicles that came upon Frank moments after he shot everyone else. Unless you're suggesting that sacrificing the boy not only lifted the fog but magically summoned a whole bunch of vehicles?
