- Recipe: Wheat flour 2%. Black pepper is for sharpness (spicy). One kitchen sponge in stainless steel. Powdered iron. Salicylic acid.
The process of manufacturing a blade welded from steel pot scrubberl and powder iron. Approximately 1.5% of carbon. Hardness after quenching - 62 units according to Rockwell. My article on the topic: sites.google.com/site/zapiski...
On my patreon page, I began to explain the processes and secrets of my work. Topics already covered:
1. Why do I add pepper to container Damascus steel.
2. What do I sprinkle? Flux and its composition.
3. How do I remove the container from the workpiece (container Damascus steel).
4. Why am I drilling a hole in a container.
5. Why do I sweep away the dross from the anvil with my hand.
6. Why do I first forge some blanks on a tree.
7. In what and why do I soak the blank before forging.
8. In which granules do I place the workpiece after forging.
9. What kind of white powder do I pour into the container.

#DamascusSteel - Наука та технологія
I love these kind of videos where the creator doesn't say anything and just goes for it. Unlike other creators where they stick their face in at any moment where they can and almost scream at you to like and subscribe. This is the kind of content that I really enjoy.
Dmitry, you never cease to amaze me, you take knife making to another level, thanks a million.
I hope this comment reaches you. I see your videos everywhere! You are very skillful and seem to know the ins-&-outs of blacksmithing! I truly enjoy your videos, and ASPIRE to be as skilled as you are! Thank you for your time and energy spent making these videos!
It looks like this Craftsman can make Damascus steel knife out of any scrap steel.
More - those will be not just good looking, but actually perfectly functioning knives.
Simply amazing skills… Thank you for sharing.
I'm anxiously awaiting some Damascus from Russian tank parts.
Mama's secret recipe. She alway,s knows best. Super nice blade as always . ;)
Excellent!!! Your forging skills are second to none. I would have never thought that a scrub pad could become something so beautiful. I absolutely love your videos and admire your talent. Phenomenal work keep up the great job.
Have you watched Alec Steele?
it’s literally just steel
And Ilya from That Works is also awesome..
Just imagine a little nutmeg and cinnamon in the mix. That would make one sweet knife.
... You are thinking of sugar
I think it needs a little bit of salt
Cinnamon isn't sweet one bit
these are the replies i came here for
После перца поставил на паузу и угадал минут 10))))) чувство юмора на высоте!!!! Всегда с удовольствием смотрю ваши работы!
Thank you for taking the time to do this! My time was well spent watching your video!
Эксклюзивное блюдо, для истинных гурманов. Браво Дмитрий!
you heard the AK, we get it
Никогда не интересовался ножами, но то, как вы их делаете это круто)
You know, sometimes I've woken up with a nice cup of coffee and Shurap's videos like this morning, and other times I fall asleep to his videos at night because they are just as calming as they are entertaining and educational. Both times have equal sentimental value to me and these videos will forever remain favourites of mine 😊
Когда у мастера ещё и здоровое чувство юмора, он не победим! ))))
Your videos are very relaxing, you make some amazing stuff. Thank you!
Being an old meat cutter I love knifes and this guy make beautiful looking knifes and I got to believe they hold up well also
Again I say Wowzer. Such a beautiful blade from a steel pot scrubber. Thank u for showing me how its done.

Okay, I can’t tell if you guys are joking or not, I’ve seen this similar comment several times. He is not using pepper, it’s powdered steel, flour and metal scrub pad

Omg the “fancy meal” presentation at the end is hilariously wholesome! Beautiful work on the blade too!
Dame, that is nice... never would have thought. The pattern is awesome almost like a woots steel. 👍
How did I miss this one? Love the use of flour to add carbon to the powdered iron and make it into steel but I have to say my favorite part was the completed dish at the end.
That’s what I’ve been wondering, if all the “seasonings” he adds to each forging adds carbon, or if it’s just him being extra.
If it actually adds carbon, I might have to do something like this when I start forging.
@@Dr_Monitor He does it to add carbon as well as a fun meme for his video's. If you start forging with good steel then you won't need to add carbon.. If you don't have allot of money then good steel is found in auto wrecking yards. Leaf springs for flat bar and shock springs for round. Hell most suspension parts are good steel for forging knives.
Question we should be asking is Shurap OK considering the war in Ukraine and Sumy was a Russian target. He has been silent since the first week of the war and it's 82 days in.
@@JETWTF He welds metal in an enclosed space, and no matter how hard you try, air remains inside, the ingredients burn the remnants of oxygen, and add carbon to the steel.
So if I add black pepper, oregano, garlic, and cilantro to my steel forges, I'm actually adding carbon?
I believe the word for sharp in Ukrainian is the same as spicy(hot), so to make sure the knife is harp they add a pinch of spice to the metal.
Très bonne recette!
Pour ma part je dirais que vous avez atteint l'excellence.
Most excellent video. You have taken every technique that I use in hand forged knife making to a higher level. My hat is off to you sir. I thank you for sharing the fruits of your hard won efforts.
Beautiful knife, but I was looking forward to some new and magical tea. Your craftsmanship is second to none sir, thank you for posting these great videos.
I like the episodes where you install the handles as well. Either way love what turns out.

Hey Shurap sir,
Please stay safe during these eventful times ! You are such a skilled artist, the world is definitely a better place with you in it !
2-23-22 Any thought of getting out of there? Your skillset would be quite lucrative here in the USA. Please continue to stay safe! Your craftsmanship and creativity are world class; it would be a tragedy if you could no longer make such beautiful blades.
I,love the way your brain works
Cooking with Shurap.
Flour, sugar, pepper n scrubber thingy lightly roasted and gently kneaded..... delicious damascus blade drizzled in olive oil.
Awesome stuff bro! I like that you use different stuff,I watched the Damascus screw vid, keep pushing it and being super innovative , definitely the best forger I've seen on yt.
That beginning and ending were totally *_EPIC!_*
Metallurgy is fascinating!
LOL! love the recipe!
У Вас и с руками, и с юмором всё в поряде)
technology is amazing.. the amount of work it takes to extract ore, machine it into scrubbers and ship it to destination is extraordinary yet the modern supply chain and factory line mean the cost to produce in mass quantity is extremely low once overhead is covered (machines and supplies etc). just watching him and the time and effort it takes to make a knife puts it in perspective.
"And remember children, always season your steel mix!"
Tum Po lol right! I’m another video he puts chili peppers into the mix!
The Laundry Mat hello another video
cleanthegreen well played. You and autocorrect worked together on that one 😂

Yummy... I'll take two to go, with a side of olive oil fried sandpaper, with garlic sauce!
You make great videos, thank you blacksmith man:)
True craftsman, beautiful work.
Я так понял, что мука для оъёмного цианирования, ну а перец просто для остроты ))).

He's a sorcerer! He studies the dark arts! How else can he make knives that are so stunning?
Removes oxygen when smelting. And adds a little carbon. That's the way they used to do it after they plumed the iron out of the orr
