On my patreon page, I began to explain the processes and secrets of my work. Topics already covered:
1. Why do I add pepper to container Damascus steel.
2. What do I sprinkle? Flux and its composition.
3. How do I remove the container from the workpiece (container Damascus steel).
4. Why am I drilling a hole in a container.
5. Why do I sweep away the dross from the anvil with my hand.
6. Why do I first forge some blanks on a tree.
7. In what and why do I soak the blank before forging.
8. In which granules do I place the workpiece after forging.
9. What kind of white powder do I pour into the container.
10. In what liquid do I develop the pattern on the blade.

I love how this man perfectly seasons his ingredients before he cooks them🤌🤌
Yeah WTF is with the salt and pepper? OK salt (sodium chloride) might make sense for some chemical reason but the pepper?!?
@@alidee5448 its for flavour
@@alidee5448 The author is Ukrainian, in our opinion chili pepper is called "Sharp" pepper. That is, it is such an idiom that "Sharp" (hot) pepper are added to make the blade sharper.
@@alidee5448The word "sharp" and "spicy" are the same word in rus/ukr languages. Just a little pun
@@alidee5448 Its just carbon once sufficiently heated. Whether part of the process or just as a joke, I'm not sure.
Ah yes. Way back in 2001 my art teacher introduced us to calligraphy. She let us pick the pen and ink we wanted to learn with. The pens were all stored in cups with the nibs facing up so they don't rust after cleaning (they were never clean due to it being high school). I set my wrist on top of a set of nibs to go through the cup of pens next to it. When I lifted my hand an extra fine pen nub had impaled my wrist. It didn't hurt so I pulled it out. Later while I was washing my hand I noticed a black dot on my wrist. It wouldn't wash off. I still have the black dot to this day though it's quite faded at this point. And that's how I got my first tattoo.
I got stabbed in my thumb by a friend with a calligraphy pen about 12 years ago now. Since its on the palm side youd expect it to fade, but it never did.
I have a similar “tattoo” on the left leg. My sister and I were fighting and she grabbed a pencil and stabbed me with it. She was 6 and I was 7. So now I have a permanent dot of gray on my shin. It looks kinda blue nowadays, but it’s still there.
Good story ❤
Cool story! I had a freshly sharpened pencil break off into my pointer finger in 5th grade. Still have it in there and I'm 35 now lol.
Same i stabbed myself accidentally with a #2 pencil under my right eye in 3rd grade and i still have the dot there. I always joke around that i killed someone cause it kind looks like a tear tattoo
1:32 the smiley face that pops up when it gets smooshed is awesome!
looks more like an enemy from a super mario game to me
It reminds me of Mr. Bill.
The pattern in the steel even looks like it was drawn with a fine point calligraphy nib! Your patterns never fail to amaze me! You are a true artisan of the craft!
I didn’t expect the rosette layout to translate into a pattern that looked like actual roses! That’s freaking beautiful!!

this chad uses no gloves and touches the white hot metal with his bare hands. respect.
That pattern is gorgeous. I love that it turned out looking like someone took a pen and sketched some flower patterns on the blade, it really fits the theme of using calligraphy nibs. Spectacular.
Yeah I was thinking the same. It's an incredibly beautiful piece

Nothing more admirable than a man who has honed his craft, love your videos!
As a long-time calligraphy/fountain pen fan, I was already going to love this blade…and then you set the twists. Simply stunning work.
That is one of the most beautiful patterns I've seen in years of watching bladesmithing videos. It reminds me of a field of flowers blowing in the wind. You create beautiful art.
I am glad you are still safe in the chaos surrounding you. It has gone on too long, but may it soon be over so that your country and people can begin healing.
I see roses and ferns. Blowing in the wind is exactly right.

@Timothy Ball yep totally missed it thanks to the upcoming videos popping up on screen.
I hope you and your family manage to stay safe, Dmitry. I am amazed by everything you create, every knife is a work of art. Hoping for peace soon.

This is incredible. I’m in awe of the pattern you’ve created.
Lol, did I miss him carving a smiley face in the billet?
First, I am so very glad you are safe and able to keep making videos and I pray that continues. Second this is seriously the most beautiful Damascus I have ever seen. It almost looks like someone was writing on the steel rather than a part of it. Phenomenal work sir!
That is by far the most beautiful knive ive ever saw in my life. Absolutely flawless work my friend. Incredible.
I agree
watch all the other videos hard to pick just one with so many amazing ones already behind him, this is one of a kind tho for sure.
Is there such thing as a knive? How does is compare to a knife?

This is probably the most insane and creative damascus pattern I've Ever seen. Incredible work. Stay safe!
The surprise at 1:30 made me smile just as much as the _AMAZING_ designs of the final result. Thanks as always for sharing the process of your work with us, and I hope you remain safe and well!
Glad I went through the comments, I had a good laugh at this one as well!

Same. Compliments for the hidden message.
My favorite thing about this is that the pattern looks like it was actually drawn on with a fountain pen. So meta, I love it.
That was beautiful to watch, thank you for sharing. The finished piece was truly a work of art 💕
That is an extraordinary pattern, it's a privilege to watch you work 😊
Stay safe my friend
Glad to see you and yours are still alive and well despite everything that's happened over the past year.

The beauty of the blade is undeniable. The craftsmanship is so impressive. This guy is truthfully an incredible artist.
The finished product looks like it has flowers, thats really nice

I really love how you have a proven process and you don’t deviate from it. I’ve watched so many videos of yours I pretty much know what you plan to do next by how you work the material. It’s amazing work and I respect that you produce such highly skilled work while keeping the quality at absolutely top notch. Keep up the great work and can’t wait to see the next Damascus pattern that you create. Stay safe in these trying times over there. We are praying for you all in that area.
It's keeps the pattern comparisons consistent too. It's like a scientific study. Only really ever changes 1 variable.

Ive watched many videos like this but didnt expect the result .
This is the most beautiful Damascus steel I've ever seen
That's amazing. I love that the Damascus made from pens nibs has a Damascus pattern that looks like it was drawn on with a pen. It really reminds me of my doodles with a dip pen.
At 6:20 did he just use his bare finger to wipe slag off the metal??
Wondered the same
How the fuxk still I wondered 😂😂😂
@Shurap with what’s going on in your homeland you’ve just managed to turn out one of your most amazing pieces, ever. Best of luck for the future and keep on making these gorgeous crazy knives.
I don't think that it can be done any better by anyone. Absolutely beautiful patterns. 11/10.
I recently got back into fountains pens after not using them since the late 1960s. A cheap fountain pen is so much more rewarding than a ballpoint. You can make an infinite number of colours if you are inclined and the inks I like have at least 5 different blacks let alone other colours.
That is one extremely pretty blade - pure art! You have done so many wonderful damascus blades in the past, but this is probably my all time favourite.

I have a theory, Dmitry is such a master craftsman that he made a long Damascus ingot with the smiley face built into it and slices it for the end-caps just to amuse us all.
Always good to see another beautiful creation from you!
The moment you realize how hard you've been making your canister welds. He super glued stainless steel to the interior to keep it from sticking, mind blown.
Its definitely the pepper that makes these so awesome.
Always super impressed with your work but this one took it to an even deeper level. This one is truly amazing. That patter was so Intense
Absolutely love all of your videos, good to see you are still making some of the best content out there ❤❤❤
I have never seen a Damascus before, but this is Beautiful
I hope you and your family are safe
Well truth is you probably still havin't seen real Damascus unless you have looked at an ancient sword in a museum. What we see in this video is called pattern welding. Knife makers just call it Damascus because that's a buzz word that sells and most people don't know what it really means. Real Damascus was an alloy called wootz that was commonly sold in a place called Damascus and the exact composition of it was lost to time. Modern alloys are actually better than wootz but wootz was the best for thousand of years before modern steel alloy.
that pattern is crazy good, it looks like someone inked on a bunch of nature art
Absolutely beautiful! You always do such an amazing job! Hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe during these unfortunate times.

Damascus made from substandard alloy is still substandard alloy. I just torched a Jowo nib and dropped it in oil. It didn't harden noticably.
