question? if you are using a straight ruler, do you have to install your ruler base? You said you did not attach the top of the quilt to the leader. My second question is how was the quilt top edge attached? This was most helpful. Many thanks.
Any time you are using rulers, you will want to pop on your ruler base! The quilt top was already quilted prior to this video so it was no longer attached to the leader. It was quilted using our regular method of loading.
I think this method wd be great when you’re in a hurry, say, for a baby shower, in a cpl hours or something. Less hassle. I suppose, to attach the tails to each other on the long arm, you wd do it off to the side? Which means you’d hv to start and end on the side versus the top or bottom, right? Thanks for doing this. It’s a great idea! 💡 🌷
It’s not always about speed though. Sometimes it about not wanting to manhandle a gigantic quilt through a domestic machine. My concern is that my machine has dual feed and my long arm doesn’t. But without feed dogs on a long arm, maybe that won’t matter. I am anxious to try the technique.

Oh my goodness. I think I need to better master my long arm before attempting this. I’ve only done 4 quilts on a frame. Not ready for this right now.

Attaching the tails on the longarm is a little more involved but yes, it would be off to the side.
How would you handle adding labels or tags to the back side?
I usually hand sew them on.
Aren't you worried you will cut binding when trimming up
We cut on the outside where the raw edge is.
