Not only did this show have outstanding writers, they had outstanding actors to bring what was written to life. For the ones who have gone on, R.I.P. 9/6/2022
Fred was smart to have Esther go up against Grip. Say what you want about Fred, Esther would never let anyone say something negative about her sister. Or Lamont.
What is crazy is that Esther allowed someone who.sneeked in her room at night to just shall I say "Have his way with her. Apparently, it was dark, but I mean, did either her or grip say anything ? He just came in the room, and they done it? No questions ask? Don't know who you are doing it with?
Fred: That's a lie. Esther: Oh wait a minute Fred I will handle it we'll soon find out. Which one was Elizabeth room chum? Big Money Grip: It was the room off the kitchen. Esther: See how he lying the room off kitchen was my room.
Right !! 😆😆 But Esther is so DOMINANT she decided she had to stop Grip from leaving and "handle it." Well, when the truth came out she didn't want to hear it & she was suddenly ready to leave. You're so right about Esther quitting while she was ahead.😁😁 Awesome show !!
But if she hadn't, Grip would have continued the lie about Elizabeth. Esther uncovered the truth, and stopped Grip's lie. And she knew Jesus, so she knew she was also forgiven.
I remember watching this episode in the early 70s. We were all laughing until I fell outta the chair. 50 yrs later, Esther & Fred, together on the same side, is still funnnnnnnny now in 2024. Almost all the cast has passed on!
I remember this episode. It was hilarious like so many of the Sanford and Son episodes. No one could preach and shout like Aunt Esther. I loved this character. She was strong and had no problem putting people in their place, including Fred. But, Aunt Esther also had a good and kind heart. RIP funny lady. ❤
I know, right? I mean, she didn't even know who it was.. LoL😅 And apparently, she didn't care on the flip side grip he couldn't tell the difference even in the dark (which obviously it had to have been) between Esther and Elizabeth there had to be some difference. No one said a word. I guess he just done it and left.
Everybody was shaking and trembling when they thought about Gripp and Esther together. First Gripp did it after thinking about it, then Fred and Lamont both did it. I guess she wasn't on anyone's list at the time. That's ok though, Esther still ended up pulling Woody... even though he was a drunk.
I think that was the one statement, by Aunt Esther, that got the longest & loudest laugh from the audience in the show’s history.....”the room off the kitchen was MY room”. Hahahahahaha. 6/19/2023. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👌🏾
6/11/2023: A true “christian’s” life is FULL OF MISTAKES AND LEARNING FROM THEM. Can’t hardly wait for the moment when we shall ALL BE CHANGED ( this “mortal” body will be changed to a perfect immortal body. Dear FATHER GOD, how long ? ) Maranatha from Hawaii🌴🌺✝️🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🤙🤙🤙
@2:23 -- I like the way Lamont shook his head. It not only was a good fit for the insanity he just witnessed, but I suspect it was also due to him shaking off a laugh that he was trying to hold back.
Rare case of Fred and Esther teaming up together WITH AN EPIC ENDING; ironic how Esther pushed for the truth; even more ironic how epic that very truth she pushed for so much BACKFIRED on HER!
😄 (lol) “ It’s SO funny how the whole scenario changed when Everyone present realized that Griff was with Aunt Esther. You could even see Fred’s entire stance change afterwards. ”

The reaction from the audience and the realization of what really happened is hysterical.
I love when Fred and Esther team up! Just priceless!
An extremely RARE case too!
Aunt Esther steals the show& my Heart!
They both loved Elizabeth.
This is one the rarest moments of Esther and Fred agreeing with each other
Didn't last long though. 😂
@lxxyxz FRED & ESTHER were only protecting ELIZABETHS` honor. Nuthing more.
It was a glorious two minutes. 😂
Yeah dat is true, but it was funny while it lasted
Not even rarest, but just once in that particular episode....
LaWanda Page and Redd Foxx had such chemistry. Hilarious.
So glad Redd threatened to quit the show if they didn't hire her. They were great friends back to their earliest comedy days in the 1940s.
I had no idea. Aunt Esther was much better than aunt Ethel. But they didn't introduce aunt Esther until season 2 right?
aunty Esther had an Affair, with a strange man who came in? woo
Actually, Redd Foxx, LaWanda Page, and Sonny Jim Gaines (Big Money Grip) were all good friends.
@@johnpauljones9310 look up

Absolutely!!
This is by far one of the best episodes......Esther is at her best!!!!!!
Esther was so busy trying to prove Elizabeth was innocent and boy oh boy🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lmao well she sure did prove Elizabeth was innocent 🤣🤣
Fred was smart to have Esther go up against Grip. Say what you want about Fred, Esther would never let anyone say something negative about her sister. Or Lamont.
I agree!! Whenever Fred wanted someone taken care of, he called Esther. Their comedic interactions are still legendary!! I love this show!!
And I loved old Esther for that, and at the end of the day, she wouldn't let anyone mess with Fred, either, if it came down to it.
Esther absolutely crushed this scene 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
LaWanda Page was gold. ❤
Grip: Did you use to sleep with big curlers in your hair Esther: I don't want to hear anymore of this
😂
I was crying..🤣😂
Esther wanted the truth until she couldn't handle the truth 🤣🤣🤣
the look on her face when Fred said Grip was in her room was priceless.

Exactly 😂🤣🤣
And earlier in the episode he asked who this lovely lady was 🤣
@@LaKellita Mhm clearly full of crap Lol.

To be fair, Discount Morgan Freeman was feeling rapey for Elizabeth so…KARMA
