Thank you so much for explaining how to skate backwards! One of my biggest challenges, though, is finding time on the ice when I can practice without worrying about skating into people. I tried practicing on a busy rink by looking over my shoulder from time to time, but then I obviously follow the direction of my gaze. Skated backwards into the side of the rink too many times to count now. 😂
Absolutely! It's actually really common for adult and teen skaters to start learn to skate classes with no prior experience of any kind. I know some like to go skating before their first class but it's not a requirement.
