Some of the advice in “My Way of Life” may be dated, but a lot of the advice is still timeless, and this advice about aging is spot on.

I adore Joan Crawford. When asked if she could still do the Charleston, she replied, "Are you kidding? Of course!"

Glad you enjoy them. People are so quick to write-off her book for being “outdated”. Of course some things are - it was 1971 and she was born in 1906. But the essential core beliefs and values hold up today. She was very wise and all I wanna do is help people know the real JC again 💕

Lovely elegant Joan, who actually studied some judo, ran a mile a day, and generally advocated fitness.

God listening to her speak mesmerizes me. What a life she led, calcified by sheer will and determination. I find it amazing that for being so elegantly well spoken, this woman had no formal training and left school after the 5th grade. She just watched, and learned.

She was very wise, not just some silly Hollywood actress. She was an observer of life and the human condition. She did this and tried that and learned from her own experiences and tried to impart what she'd learned to others. Her autobiography wasn't a kiss and tell but rather a how to manual. Brava Joan.

Joan Crawford hit the nail right on the head! Excellent advice on how to age gracefully and actually defy it! Age is simply a number! Look at how lovely she was at 71 at the end of her life. She aged beautifully. If only she would not have drank alcohol and smoked so heavily, she could have probably lived another 20 years. It was high fashion in the 1920s through 1960s to smoke. No one knew it was killing you. Very sad.

Twyla Tharp has a great book out. ‘Keep it movin’ I own it. But have yet to read it. She exercises daily & vigorously. I wish I could say so for myself in the last couple years, but I have a very part time physical job, nonetheless @ 64yo.
