They literally changed the rules because of this man. Mans retired and said “Tell Roger Goddell he can move the kick off back again” haha that’s legendary shit, man.
As others said, it is not true. The rules were changed because of the Bills player who was paralyzed and how it has been proven that kick returns are significantly more dangerous than any other play in football. They really should change the rule to 4th and 15 from the 35 with the option for teams to go for it and/or fake the punt... or 4th and 20 from the 30 if it is too easy. Punts are much safer than kickoffs and more interesting. Hester was a better punt returner, as they even mentioned in this video, farmore of his returns came off of punts than just a few kicks.

No Hatred....Just FACT'n.
Not that mediocre if they made the Super Bowl. The offense was mediocre, I'll agree. That defense was amazing
@@rkymtnchi503 I was referring to the seasons they didn't make it to the Super bowl. They had one really good year where it came together for them but other than that they were really inconsistent and as likely to miss the playoffs completely as they were to win any games there.
Put this man in the hall of fame
The best receiver, running back, quarterback, and return man all used to be in the same division. Crazy to think about. Great memories
I get the QB, RB, and KR, but who do you call the best reciever?
SaCeuran i’m trying to figure that out too 🤔
One of the most entertaining players to ever watch... a legend
BEST KICK/PUNT RETURNER IN NFL HISTORY
No shit sherlock
Petey Pierre stfu
Man he was fun to watch.
This video made me smile. He's so humble and seems like a generally good guy. I'm blessed to see a player like him play.
With today's rules, its officially impossible to break his records. He deserves to be in the HOF as the greatest return man of all time
I’m gonna break his record
I will always remember Dante Hall and Devin Hester both AMAZING returners had great careers love watching them.
*he makes it look so easyyyyyy, like anybody could do it*
Jump cut, jump cut, and gone
Greatest Return Man of All Time 💯 the only HOF special teams player I’ve ever seen
I remember seeing him and all his crazy highlights from that season, I didn't realize it was all his rookie season.
What an exciting player!
The fact that it got to the point where teams were willing to give the bears better field position by kicking out of bounds, just to keep it away from Hester shows how special and dangerous of a player he was. I miss watching this guy on Sundays!
Amen
Devin Hester I freaking love you! There will never be a player like you 💯✊🏽✊🏽
I’m gonna break his record
What a freaking beast, I miss this era of the bears, I know as a bears fan we have something to be excited about this upcoming season. But Devin was a monster and a highlight reel!
This man is why I watch football today. I stopped following as I got older but picked the game back up right after they lost the Superbowl. A friend of mine said you dont know who 'Devin Hester' is. I was unaware. I do remember watching some clips on UA-cam and I was sold. I have an autographed Hester and an autographed Sayers jersey and next to my kids, I'm getting them out in a fire. I know Devin will never read this but if you do, there is a small fan base that you have inspired of 20 Canadians. Most of which have found new teams, including the Pack (ugh), but it is all because of what you did. Thanks so much. :)
You were a joy to watch brother
Devin Hester was one of the first super athletes of this new generation. Silly amazing.
These videos are getting me ready for football season
Emperor Palpatine facts
Emperor Palpatine I didn’t know sith lords watch football
I was a senior in high school in Chicago, this guy had the city buzzin
Nobody :
Devin Hester : Ima just be the greatest kick returner ever 🤷🏽♂️ 🔥
As a lions fan, with all the talent the bears had on both sides of the ball in that era, Hester by far scared me the most every time the lions played the bears! I have nothing but love and respect for that guy man! He truly is the greatest return specialist of all time
Devin Hester’s Aunt was the counselor in my Middle School
No one asked
@@AS-oo4gv your mom asked
@Jordan Davis...man thats pretty dope bro..... dont let any clown tell you otherwise..
Lmfao
Was she fast too?
6 dislikes wtf.
Only people hating on him is because they jealous they didn't find him.
The Man, the Myth, the legend.
Will never forget the way he changed the game.
One of the dislikes was Adam Vinatieri. Lol
First ballot hall of famer!
He’s the best kick returner ever, he deserves to be in the hall of fame. No one has ever been like him
Man I still get chills watching Devin Hester
David Hester...The only player I know that had a 100 Speed in Madden
i think david johnson did too. i know someone else besides just hester did have 100 speed in madden
*Devin
I love David hester
He diiiid?
Chris Johnson the season after He had 2k yards.
If punters and kickers can get into the Hall of Fame (not saying they don't deserve it), then the guy with the most kick returns in NFL history should be able to get in. It will probably take a long time, but I think he's earned the honor.
I am honored to have played many games of basketball with this legend at LA Fitness.
Is that code for something
Mr. Devin Hester, Chicago will forever Love & Respect you for what you gave us = GREATNESS👈🏼.
Bonus Note >That SuperBowl kickoff return was one of the greatest feelings i & (im sure if not all, most/99% of Bears Fans) ever have had. Just Pure Magic/Greatness.
From True Blue Bears fans
Favorite player of all time right here
Omg we should have won that superbowl. I still haven't watched any highlights other than the return since.
And then Rex Grossman fumbled snaps to give superbowl away.
elvis316 bro it was such a rollercoaster watching that last return because that’s exactly what went through my head too
elvis316 Yes!! I just commented the same thing!
JulieBishop Facts Julie! All we needed was a game manager.
Pretty sure Cedric bensons fumble cost us more. That changed the whole game.
Albert Bonk No, we expect running backs to fumble when they get hit sometimes. But you can’t be fumbling snaps in the Super Bowl!! Fundamentals...
Boi my mother used to get so hyped when he'd take off. Have to sit her self down like she just ran them 100+yards.
Seeing him as a kid was amazing! Such a pleasure to see greatness in Chicago!
I revisit this video all the time. Every time this video shows up in my recommended videos, I watch it. I smile the while way thru. Every body wanted him to break records. Even the referees. They didnt call any holding penalties anytime he got the ball on a kickoff. They were witnesses of greatness. They let it happen.
The NFL has done everything they can to eliminate kickoffs forever. Way to go No Fun League.
Kickoffs are generally pretty boring to watch, punts returns are a work of though.
They are a work of?

People were starting to get seriously hurt
@@Buttsmoker you have to expect that from sports like this
I remember him playing and making a huge impact that year, but until this video I didn’t realize what a *smart* player he was !
I still think Lovie Smith should have kept him at DB .. much love from the south side of Chicago 🐐
One of the rare times I saw him as a DB was in the first Pro Bowl (They played him at DB) He looked more awkward there than at WR
His vision and that one slippery cut he would make were unlike anything I have ever seen.
Man this dude is so cool
“I dint why I’m telling you guys this, I’m posed to be telling my kids this” lmao baby hesters
Lil speedy ankle biters
I can’t wait for football
#92 for the Bears is a blocking Beast !!!!!!
duane jessup Hunter Hillenmeyer
He RUINED that kicker lol
They loved blocking for Hester. Back then being on special teams was a privilege. We had Gould too.
wario7414 yes they never missed, pack fan
yea i saw that too lol
That's just raw talent and a gift because he was truly special. Like a movie waiting to put in that special player.
Being a lifelong University of Miami fan as well as lifelong Bears fan I can still remember when and where I was when Devin was drafted by the Bears he was my favorite college player before hand and I was thrilled the Bears selected him! Watching this video makes me so happy and the opening kick off of the Super Bowl was one of the greatest moments of my life! Thanks Devin for all the memories you were truly ridiculous!
