That was early Subtractum. "Mageblood for the res guys." Disregard the enkindled max quicksilver or diamond flask. He has come along way and I wouldn't put him there now.
This would've saved me so much time and confusion a few years ago. I tried one of "PoE Build's" Tornado Shot League Starters and as a scrub following a crap guide I couldn't get past Blood Aqueducts. Since then I've actively avoided that channel and had much more success! I've learned which content creators are trustworthy and this is a great video explaining why they are. Love your videos man, almost as much as I love staring into the dark abyss that is your glasses.
Lol I've had literally the very same experience years ago with the same site and the same TS build. It made me very annoyed with PoE and I didn't touch the game for almost 2 years.
Wtf tornado shot is horrible to leveling, this is probably your fault, I already made many builds of that channel, and I reached the same results showed into the video
Btw League starter not necessary mean that is easy, just you can start from it, and in that case you have a point, tornado shot different from Ice shot or Lightning Arrow, is pretty bad at the beggining
Phoenix is another example of clickbaity build that doesn't even have a build progression. You see league start ssf viable on the thumbnail with these insane number, but then the build in the video costs like 50-100 div
got baited by his 200m dps archmage build this league, sure it has a lot of damage but like 3k life and basically no defences other than mom and normal mana stacker stuff, respecced to ivory tower coc and doing much better
The fastaf needs a big asterisk. I have played several of their builds before I made my first 100 divines in a lague and it was great. They are pretty clear imo if the build is for noob or not and the 1 div is for mid / late league rerolls to try something new for cheap. They are not for 100% newby players, but their builds work like a charm / as advertised.
@@Inquisite1031From all the guides flying around on the internet, outside of Phox's RF bible, Maxroll has provided the most consistent guides. Like it or not, you can't change it
they cant because its delusion. They might not be specialized in those builds and they wont show you the absolute minmaxed potential. But those are great builds for beginners and intermediate players that cba watching streamers explaining builds and need a written guide@SimpleRikc
In Poe Builds vid I once pointed out some mistakes... well not mistakes, those were deliberate choices in a pob of a "bosser" frost blades trickster, that once corrected resulted in almost 80% reduction of dps. Comment got deleted in less than 20 seconds
As a new player, I love Maxroll!! Very easy process to follow 1-70. The progress tab, well bit overwhelming since I have no clue what some of the stuff is talking about, but trying to take it in piece by piece and its getting there! Was looking a POE Build channel build that looked fun and everything just didn't add up. Video said one thing, comment section said another. From the dmg/tankiness of the build to the prices of the gear!! Glad I found this video!!
There are also 2 other channels, where I don't remember the name, that just update the title to be the newest league and keep POB and video outdated, also using questionable high cost items in a league starter POB
Never gave the seal of approval to max roll because the Lost Ark section was always a mess till this day, but gotta admit that the PoE section is on point (as far as what I saw). Also, thanks for calling out the RMT scums.
I would say this to all who are seeking new builds to start with: 1. Find a build that align with what you like to do, if it is bossing find a build good at killing bosses not that has a great clear, and vice versa. 2. Find a build that scales with your budget, if league starter require expensive unique during the first few days of play, it is not a league starter. 3. Find a build that doesn't need crazy transition.. like you start with skill and the next day you have to change nearly half of your tree. 4. DOT builds scales easily and usually it is good for mapping and requires heavy investment for bossing ...
bossing builds often require crazy transitions. also bossing is so far away that those builds are not a good choice for newbies. there is so much content to learn and do before you could even think of bossing, so picking such a build is a huge mistake.
A good starter build is the one that's normally used for bossing in most part. Otherwise, how can you pay for your other characters? That's the whole point of a starter build. @@jerppazz4525
I usually play SSF, but even if I was playing trade league, I think it's a safe bet to go for "SSF friendly" builds for new players. These are generally less reliant on specific items and scale higher just from gem and character levels.
Not sure If that matters too much for trade. Just reminding towards the cf swap to daggers this league. People will always know how to maximize profit out of shitty items if it just happens that a streamer dare to mention them. I think new players will always buy whatever is written in the guide and it doesnt matter too much if its a skyrocketed shitty rare or legendary. Also new player will usually not upgrade their gear by crafting themselves in the beginning, so searching for rares might become even more expensive than just sticking to cheap legs.
@@s.e.3974 It matters for new players, because they have extremely limited currency and there's no telling what random unique will happen to skyrocket from a UA-cam video sometimes
@@KingJerbear Any tier 3 unique will be reasonable after a week. When I was new, I liked builds that used uniques. Especially unique weapons like quill rain, dark scorn, or cane of unravelling (before they gutted chaos dot). Try to craft rare weapons is confusing when you're new, and buying them is very expensive.
Something incredibly important most people just refuse to accept is that sometimes, it's not the build; it's your playstyle. I have had many elaguestarrs from good creators that I ended up hating and feeling like it was awful. Subtractem frostblink build, a few of zizz' and another one I can't remember. These are objectively good builds and loved by many, but I hated every second fo it. I felt everything was off. The thing is, I'm an old man with bad reflexes and bad eyesight. I stand in fire for 2 seconds before realizing it. I need to understand who the person I'm getting a build from. If the person is tyty, he's not going to have suitable defense for my personal needs because he has an exceptionally high skill level and can probably solo Uber elder without getting hit so his builds are fit to his playstyle, as an mlg pro. (I don't think tyty makes builds but you get the point) Knowing yourself and your weaknesses is the first step to finding a good build and avoiding improper "bait" claims. A build can be amazing but just isn't your style, and that's perfectly okay.
As someone who started few leagues ago i can confirm that i had problems continuing certain builds from certain places ( sometimes even making them work or doubt how some of the stuff are even possible ). Now i sometimes watch different *league start* videos just to decide on what skills to play, but following a guide of someone i can trust. To be honest so far i havent used maxroll that much, but did that last league and everything was smooth af.
I mean... Fast AF is for me only content creator who just shows how a 10 mirror worth build work. I know that you can do the same thing with 100 div budget after many changes in build and items but still I like watching him just for fun :D
Great lesson for new players. TLDR is find content creators who teach a thought process and not just a hand holdy guide. I'll also throw some positivity out there, and recommend CyclonDefinitiv who's a newer lesser known content creator. Really underrated channel.
Can confirm maxroll has some of the best written guides for all ARPG games not only POE. Usually follow them and then tinket a few minor things for my preference.
This is some damn good advice, I played poe a lot back in 2019 on PS4 and had a decent grasp of the game, returning recently I ran some starter builds and was having some struggles with gear upgrades, in NYX's private league I've been runnin WOC Ele from maxroll and in that environment all of the crafting guides and info on the maxroll has made everything so much smoother
i made a mistake of using poe builds channel once the build was so ass i died almost 100 times in white maps alone 💀💀💀💀 i just moved on and respec to another build
When I was a complete noob I followed a poebuilds guide. It was horrible a experience. Leveling and maps. Never again I will say the videos are really well out together. Very easy to follow
As a newish player my very first tip is for other new players to go for tankier builds. When I started doing that that's when I actually made it to maps the first time. I know that the damage of squishier builds is super tempting, but it's just not practical or good for learning mechanics. I rage quit on lightning arrow (and I know that's considered an easy build, but i just kept dying over and over on it). I had a lot of success on boneshatter. Could tank a lot of things. Basically it's way better to go for a build that doesn't punish mistakes as hard, one where you can be slightly low on ress and still make it through acts for example. Or ones where you can get hit a few times. So I'm glad that you included this tip in the video!
I wouldn't really send a new player to the forums anymore, I usually just send my friends to [reputable content creator]'s videos and they've been usually happy.
I learned a hard lesson from pob builds 4 years ago. It was my first league 3.10 Started with their freezing pulse assassin. Turned uot you have no defences at all and are relaying on vaal grace to save you, not even regular grace. After dying a lot in mid maps I gave up. Next league I olayed cyclone champ from reputable creator and difference was massive.
shoutout to Palsteron and maxroll for their good builds, I followed 3-4 of their guides and have not been disappointed. When i was new i definitely got baited into following "Path of Exile Builds" builds and they almost never worked and i could absolutely not understand why. Big bait channel. I would argue Fast AF is not as bad because usually it just showcases builds on a very high budget
PoE Builds youtube channel was my introduction to poe guides. Started with arc totems from them during blight league. That was rough, but I saw enough of the game's potential to continue playing til now.
regardless, arc lighting/ crackling lance on his page literally on the video pic he has "budget" very deceiving for new players, and thats just one example, also new players might not know that he is using legacy gear@@saulocavalcante7558
I can’t believe this is actually getting upvoted. Phoenix literally states in his videos that his builds are for STANDARD and utilizing LEGACY gear/flasks/jewels etc. His legacy Facebreakers Berserker showcase/build was incredible and was the reason I got into playing Berserker builds in league. There are plenty of League build guides out there, I think there’s room for different kinds of content that may not be for everyone.
tbh noone takes a 1 Div fast AF guide for his leaguestarter. these builds are made after like 2-3 weeks when 5l costs nothing anymore. the big following that channel has is because of their 3+ mirror blaster builds. and lets be real that videos are always spot on. i nerver heard someone say "yea im new to the game i need to learn everything, lets go to fast AF" never happend in 8 years of PoE. noone sees this channel as something where u learn the game.
Honestly yea on all fronts, I like looking at fast af builds mostly just to get an end-game showcase of an archetype. It's not to be taken as a noob friendly build. Path of Exile Builds is also pretty anti-noob, since you have to pay for a build that isn't really that great either. There's also showcase ideas that I love to look at, but there's also the parallel which are builds that perform very well already that don't mesh with a style. Fire DOT for instance is pretty hard to start off in campaigns, or cold dot for instance is confusing to use if you're new and not used to it. And then there's some other builds which some players won't like, SRS guardian is pretty noob-friendly and basically doesn't care about anything but suffers heavily from it being SRS and minions.
As someone who is a new player and just finished leveling with Splitting Steel and building into it, it is ROUGH using an endgame build as a leveling build. It started working out eventually, but I'm in the 80s and still trying to round out the last few pieces. Spending divine orbs on a Saviour is PAINFUL as a new player but it had to be done.
When I first started poe waaaay back, I was using poe builds and kept getting stuck on t1 maps and was not enjoying the game. This was happening for the first two leagues I played. Finally tried something else, I think a build from Mathil actually I really enjoyed and after that I started using the forums for a couple of builds and then finally started making my own builds and have done endgame multiple leagues now. I swear POE builds is the first channel that pops up when you search for builds, all my friends find that channel and I steer them away from it straight away lol
@@motherpigeon1582 Back then there was much less power creep and I also wasn’t familiar with the game but I remember he would never really build into any form of defence back then and I didn’t know any better
@@Odinataa Oh I see, I had a gaps between seasons so it is an option that some seasons were hugely kappa with his builds but the last 5/6 were not bad not either either as he builds them on the budget and we all now know that to make proper toon you need to invest a lot which is out of the reach for the most hence people have attention span of todlers and they think changing the toon for bis is going to save them ;D
I always recommend new players to do the zoomancer build with ARC as additional damage till they get to maps. Minions is the best for new players, it has almost no gear requirement and it's a great way to get a feel for the game and start to understand how support gems work. Even with just 3-links you are viable for a long time. With the new spectres available the build has become very powerful. If your in a guild of super-players, ask them what builds they are playing and do their build. That way you can get their hand-me-down gear for free.
The absolute best example of 1div build that is gonna send new players to mental facility, is flicker. You will pluck your hair out of the head, knit it and make yourself a hat that some grandmas do. Love the fact, that you talk about how shit they are. I played for 3 leagues now and best shit I played was Ts and if not for Tuna and a lot of his pobs and videos, I wouldn’t know for the love of God how to upgrade it. Love the content man
eh, you can probably make a decent oro's flicker for 2-3 if you know what you're doing. oros, yoke, polaric devastation + life/res gear should be good to do 16s. the one I have is around that gear level. shock on yoke carries you if you hit hard enough tbh
But we are talking new players, Flicker is squish initially, you need to know what bosses to be careful around while leveling etc. starting a new flicker is always a RIP fest until you have gear.
You need to be very experienced on how flicker strike works to make a cheap flicker, even myself that did one with 7 mirrors would struggle to make one that could do any damage with less than 20-30 div (for me, on flicker build it's mandatory to have atleast farrul + some good cold dmg scale like paradoxica + cold per frenzy rings + abysus)
Of course, if you know what to do, you can make some money later to upgrade it, you can make like 1 or few div version work, but it’s sold as good for one div. If a new player gets baited by this, he will have a problem because he will die a lot. Thanks for the feedback guys
i’m pretty sure the first channel baited me into rmt because i used to think it was legal and something everyone did. i got banned but got the ban lifted since i was a new player and then never rmt’d ever again. little noob me didn’t know any better
I always like the more tanky builds. It has helped me personally seeking out more HC builds and seeking out what X build would want and how I can scale it for more dmg playing in SC. Since some items can be very pricy there or can't be dipped for survivability while it can in SC but atleast helps me getting the build running. Absolutely loved playing Guardian in tota.
As someone who's played for a few years, but still hasn't tried out most builds or tried to understand them, fast AF inspired more than 1 "pivots" and tried out different skills / builds to see how they feel. Personally I think the one div is a scam and they are buying stuff from a friend for cheap, but still idk if actually feel like that one is a "bait." Although yeah it's not an indepth guide or anything, I also may be in the minority here because I don't worship maxroll tho.
Thanks for this. I end up helping so many new players and half the time its path of exile builds. Phoenix is another one that baits in so many new players. My favorite is when you NEED a kalandras touch and a mirror tier double influence ring.
Fast AF channel actually used to be quite cool back in the day. Like Bestiary or before that. I followed couple of his builds back then the idea was to go "fast af" since the name. One of the best cycloner builds I had and a autobomber. They were very expensive but top tier.
I’m new to Poe, I’ve been playing standard for a couple of months. The first builds I tried were from the first bait site you brought up😂 I didn’t pay for anything thankfully.

Same here, i played Lighting arrow from this site and it was fine
I like his guides, they are beginner friendly, I played a lot of his builds. When you get more experience in the game tho you will have to distinguish what you can improve and change in your character..
After years theorycrafting on other games, I think I am ready to do the same on PoE. The thing is that's is so true. Some builds are super cool to play and very efficient BUT may not fit to some criteria. People wants to have more or less mitigation on their build for example. And it comes at a cost. A cost that some people aren't willing to make. My personal choice is it's OK to not have the BEST damage if I can play without dying every map because of some bad RNG or bad map mods. Some people may don't care about dying a lot and go to the glass cannon route.
8:21 Then the "real content creators" should create more builds on maxroll, poe vault etc. It s a shame the big guide websites always have max 10 league start builds on every league, which are the same as previous league. Poe has a lot of variations of skills. But you can use only few as starters. It s booring af to do the same crap build every league. Better explore different builds.
1st character was a bleed cyclone from PoE builds that looked cool. I was stuck at yellow maps with a few div invested and had no other solution but to reroll into a real league starter build.
Hey thanks for this video, havent seen anyone expose those channels until now, hopefuly new players wont have to suffer like some of us did when first starting poe
My favorite recently is “SUPER CHEAP LEAGUESTARTER! (You just need 3 or 4 items that are 5-10 div, a level 5 empower, and 3-4 extremely rare jewels)” the best build I’ve ever had in PoE is the hexblast mines from Maxroll, played it the last two leagues and done content I’ve never done before with literal ease.
bruh the ending of video, the essence of PoE. THATS what ppl forget while playing poe trade or watch other speedruners. game is bout scavenging and crafting. bout upgradeing and trying new stuff. you love to see that big fat progression. gl with Affliction boiz and noise
So basically POB builds channel is bad only because it forces you to watch 7seconds add to access the full guide? That's not a comment about their builds. I'm a newer player (under 1k hrs) and had very good success with this specific POB site channel, seemed like everything was on point: survi, DMG, progression, clearspeed, so im confused.
Ngl i wish this video was present when I first played path of exile a few years ago , i followed path of exile build channel cause it was the recommended channel for builds when I was completely new and it made the game feel very clunky to me and I dropped the game played again this year using impending doom from crouching tuna and for the first time reached maps and defeated black star
I started playing in affliction and decided to follow poebuild vaal ice shot build after earning around 50 div by playing boneshatter jug. They advertised it as "12 div and you have perfect gear and basically can do endgame bossing but you are a bit squishy". Lo and behold, I felt that I have no dmg and die in 1 hit, I pull up their pob to look at the gear and the quiver alone costs 60div, so after investing over 100 div rn, the build feels pretty decent. Never using their builds again.
Yooo, truly sorry if most of u guys felt that the 1 div is too baity, my initial plan on making the 1 div series is mainly intended as a challenge/entertainment, not a really build guide, and yes, i should make it crystal clear for newer players to know that it is not ideal to follow the 1 div set up unless you have some experience & only need a build "mockup" anyway, good luck to everyone on Affliction league! may the mirrors be with you.
Fast AF's build showcases and their '1 Div Challenge' are literally just that, showcases and challenges. If people fall for a bait that isn't there in the first place, it's their own fault.
it's certainly more than that. They scuff the numbers big time. I've seen several of their PoB's where they've added a skill or a few damage modifiers that doesn't belong. Or they are clearly showcasing it on a build with much higher budget than what is in the PoB.
The thing I really love about their guides is how realistic we should expect the build to perform, spend, and possible aspirational things we can seek with them.
I fell into that trap after I came back to the game after a 5 years break. I had pretty much forgotten everything, looked for a fast clear build, of course LA/MA was the first thing mentioned on the search engine. Picked one and started hitting those death walls every ten levels. Got mad, deleted the character, more so because I can't stand the ranger "menz-r-bad" lezbo dialogue, but also because the build pathing was shit. Eventually went back to a LA/MA build, master volume 0, and picked my own skills. At one point I was still running around with 30 unspent skill points and gear that was 40 levels outdated with basically just a Karui Ward as the only "hard-to-get" item for early levels. The build worked well without it anyway, but I still used it. I didn't even have a Hyrri's Bite because I had no clue that vendor recipe even existed. Was in my 80's before my LA trashcan build started getting hard to deal with and I had to actually start planning my gear out. By then I had amassed plenty of currency from spamming easy heists. Moral of the story: Build guides are dogshit. Do your own build. If it doesn't work, orbs of regret are a thing.
This video is a big W: call out dogshit build "creators" more often. Now I understand as a youtuber you don't want to burn bridges with possible collabs in the future or just don't want to be seen as a dickhead, but there are LOADS more people here on youtube&on the forums that deserve to go on the shitlist, and not just people with names like "Path of Exile Builds" either, those are the obvious ones. Phoenix is another one to watch out for. If anyone's got any build creators, forum poster or youtuber, that should be avoided, leave 'em in the replies please, makes for a good checklist when looking for starter builds or builds in general.
Offense = Defense. Move fast, wide screen clear coverage. Evasion + Blind is fantastic. The best defense is paying attention to your map modifiers and making sure you can run the map. Like watching out for elemental reflect if you have any amount of ele damage and aura effect reduction if you rely on aura for damage and defense.
I think you have really stepped up in terms of content creation. Nice with timestamp boxes and gameplay in them and not just pob warrior like back in the day. This makes up for a fun watching and good learning curve. Can you please consider revisiting your maw of mischief build before 3.23 and update it for that league and update the leveling tree abit more?
So I have been using a PoeBuilds Cyclone of Tumult build. This is my first league. I have been able to complete T16 maps, Exarc, Eater, Shaper, Elder, Uber Elder, and am working on Maven. While I agree the site is pretty sketch, but I’ve had no issues progressing the build and following the guide / pob.
Also having links to the trade site for all the gear was very nice. I’m currently level 97, 4.8k life, and 26mil dps w my current gear. Anytime I’ve died or failed a boss attempt thus far hasn’t ever felt like the builds fault, it’s been me being bad at the game standing in a degen, or not knowing boss mechanics etc.
the builds that are "cheap" based of end league prices are my favorite :D also 1div builds ill only believe jungroan .. this man can kill ubers on fking 4link ,his skil sis crarzy and even tho i like 1div builds , i know there are skilled people behind that can do bosses on any shit build,it works but is not for new player even for advanced
Yo love your videos man, thanks for not being afraid to call it out. Streamers will make 5 different videos about what their new league start is and gatekeep their actual build, i get it but also its a little selfish and harmful to the community. Doods like you who keep it real and honest make the difference.
Getting baited by bad builds is part of the learning process. I hardly read any build guides nowadays and go straight to the POB, normalise the config (i.e. only select options if they have reasonable uptime stuff, and yes, that means unchecking all flasks if you're not a PF) and look at it from the "what happens if I uncheck all the BS" perspective. 90% of builds go direct to the garbage bin from this process.
I have been a poe player for so long, too many leagues, I have been trying to spread to other exiles this message, thank you TripolarBear for finally speaking on it. Poe is complex enough without having this B.S of a scuffed builds, mis-leading configuration in the PoB & inaccurate showcase due to specific league mod/items. Please guys if youre new or not experienced enough, choose league starter with caution
I try to get my builds from the forums and then build up from there with my limited knowledge(and copying whatever they tell me to do in maxroll guides blindly to a T until I figure out how shit works, lol). Watching either ziz, tri or a few others known players and using their guides. I try to put 2+2 together as much as I can but im still trash and get stuck easily, until I get bored.
I started playing poe with path of exile builds youtube channel builds, it never got me to end game but it did fine until I learned more about the game, I would say recommended for beginners cause its easy to follow etc and u wont be making it to the end game either way if ure new so its a nice starting point.
Don't forget, some creators put in fake gear. Like 5 suffix gear, ect. Always look at the resistances and warnings pob has at the left and bottom left. That pretty much shows it's a fake build or not.
I figured that out about Poe Builds when I first started the game I followed his guides just because I didn't know any better for a few leagues then one league I used someone elses and was like wow this is way better than anything ive used before and never been back to that youtube channel its complete dog shit lmao
found a leaguestart vid on a build that said "im ssf so this is probably around day1 gear" with perfect exarch/eater influence mods, a EO skin of the lords, +2 amulet etc catw
FINALLY somebody in the community calls those bullshitters like PoE Builds. Those people always pop up first in the algorythmn and it's so cringe because every fucking build there is either a meme or something they copied and made worse. It's SO BAD. Feel bad for new players that land there looking for a guide.
As someone who started playing in 3.21, i did fall for the Path Of Exile Builds scam, i invested all my time following a guide just to find out that the build video and idea was ripped from previous leagues and didn't work at all, thankfully i fell in love with PoE so i didn't quit and just restarted with some friend's help.
FastAF showcases are also routinely misleading, usually showing the character juiced in ways that don't come from the build itself. A mistake I make often myself is starting a build without required gear, assuming I'll do okay or get the missing items *before* it becomes a problem. They're usuallly extra ascendency nodes from forbidden jewels or watchers eyes with multiple synergies that make the difference.
Also keep in mind fast af is a group of people dumping all their currency into some of those builds. I haven’t seen the 1 div challenge stuff, but my presumption is its disingenuous.
@@goldenhate6649 I was aware of this but had no way to verify, so I didn't mention it outright. But yeah - it implies that what you see was achieved solo. Knowing a team is at work takes a ton of shine off what you see.
Thank you for calling out shitty bait youtube channels. These channels probably suck noobs in to pay for their "guides" all while being mediocre at best. Keep up the good work TPB
Another thing i would suggest and while it might be harder for new players practicing your league start can help with determine if you have a decent enough build to start with and also practice going through the acts will help you for future reference .
Given that I'm pretty close to "Fast AF", I'll take it on my own accord to say "Don't worry guys, I'm legit!" 😂 But in all honesty, I've only ever made build guides after literally playing them for the whole league and minmaxing them as much as I can, like my Bleed Lacerate build back on Sentinel. I'm planning to start on my Storm Burst again. Posted my updated PoBs on my video, and will make update videos on it as the league progresses.

They are pretty clear imo if the build is for noob or not and the 1 div is for mid / late league rerolls to try something new for cheap. They are not for 100% newby players, but their builds work like a charm / as advertised.
Love the balls on you, good of you to call out those trashpeople
bro he is a max roll andy, thats the first sign that says u need to stay the hell away
@@Inquisite1031i do get your point but to be perfectly honest maxroll at least has decently structured guides that actually work
@@Inquisite1031From all the guides flying around on the internet, outside of Phox's RF bible, Maxroll has provided the most consistent guides. Like it or not, you can't change it
This!
they cant because its delusion. They might not be specialized in those builds and they wont show you the absolute minmaxed potential. But those are great builds for beginners and intermediate players that cba watching streamers explaining builds and need a written guide@SimpleRikc
I appreciate you calling out that scuzzy channel with RMT ads on their website. Tons of respect for you.
In Poe Builds vid I once pointed out some mistakes... well not mistakes, those were deliberate choices in a pob of a "bosser" frost blades trickster, that once corrected resulted in almost 80% reduction of dps. Comment got deleted in less than 20 seconds
Ah, was there the classic: shock on ignite/freeze build set to 50%? :)
I would say this to all who are seeking new builds to start with:
"Anyway so now that you have your mageblood your ready for redmaps"
@@miramichi30 lol this is me i would love a build with only uniques
(I don't think tyty makes builds but you get the point)
Knowing yourself and your weaknesses is the first step to finding a good build and avoiding improper "bait" claims. A build can be amazing but just isn't your style, and that's perfectly okay.
Yea this is a really good point and why I brought up the tanky build stuff. You just gotta learn what build suits your style of play
Subtractem's builds require you to have 20 fingers and a 17 year old martial artist reflexes.
I only look at actual good Poe content creators like ziz steelmage or mathil
True. Fearless dumbo is another lesser known creator that makes a good explosive trap league starter every league
i find that aer0 makes good builds. idk if they truly are good but... i think they are anyways
Can confirm maxroll has some of the best written guides for all ARPG games not only POE. Usually follow them and then tinket a few minor things for my preference.
its a great sight my only issue is there is kinda a lack of builds on there, it would be awesome if there was a larger variety
I love Fast AF. It's not for noobs but it's just fun to watch the insanity of those game breaking clear or melting bosses in 2 seconds videos
Yeah, as far as I know they also don't advertise their builds as being noob friendly, so there is that as well
Yeah I don't understand the slander towards Fast AF here, that channel doesn't claim to be noob friendly afaik.
Never again
I will say the videos are really well out together.
It was my first league 3.10
Started with their freezing pulse assassin. Turned uot you have no defences at all and are relaying on vaal grace to save you, not even regular grace.
After dying a lot in mid maps I gave up.
Next league I olayed cyclone champ from reputable creator and difference was massive.
besides the fact that fastaf has no build guides it has nice and fun builds. almost every league i try one of their builds and its very fun
shoutout to Palsteron and maxroll for their good builds, I followed 3-4 of their guides and have not been disappointed.
That was rough, but I saw enough of the game's potential to continue playing til now.
you forgot about Phoenix, dude was showing league start builds with 1 passive voices.
and perfect +1 power charge rings
He's a standard builder and I've never seen him post a video without mentioning that
regardless, arc lighting/ crackling lance on his page literally on the video pic he has "budget" very deceiving for new players, and thats just one example, also new players might not know that he is using legacy gear@@saulocavalcante7558
I liked the videos where you were standing up and pointing at me over and over.
soon
Dude, your the best Poe content creator. Entertainment factor is 💯
As someone who is a new player and just finished leveling with Splitting Steel and building into it, it is ROUGH using an endgame build as a leveling build.
Weird as they are actually alright, certainly you won't get stuck at t1 maps as you dont even need gear until t7.
League start flicker strike without a lot of game knowledge is pain. Speaking from experience
i’m pretty sure the first channel baited me into rmt because i used to think it was legal and something everyone did. i got banned but got the ban lifted since i was a new player and then never rmt’d ever again. little noob me didn’t know any better
I think fast AF is mostly fine once you have a few leagues under your belt and understand how to tweak your own build to work for you
they're good for build ideas, showcases and concepts, but for new player guides that's just not the place to go. -TripolarBear
FastAF is RMT, just in SEA region.
FAF is bait Af but the videos are so much fun to watch. Thanks for all the work you guys put in over at Maxroll
literally!!! when i was new i used to try and follow the 1 exalt builds lol. eventually i learned tho and now i just watch for fun
FAF is a channel for top 1% to have a build to waste currency on for fun.
Thanks for this. I end up helping so many new players and half the time its path of exile builds. Phoenix is another one that baits in so many new players.
My favorite is when you NEED a kalandras touch and a mirror tier double influence ring.
Fast AF is a fun channel as long as you know what you're looking at. The problem is that new players don't know what goes into them.
@ I did a cyclone one, and a venom gyre one. The venom gyre one was mental the whole screen was green I couldn’t see a thing.
Hey bro, the venom gyre build from his site was what I was going to run this league....was it at least good? lol@@anthonyc806
Some people may don't care about dying a lot and go to the glass cannon route.
i remember when i started playing poe and geting absolutely baited for 2 leagues by that poebuilds channel. dark times
Also high defences for new players is mandatory for learning league/boss mechanics, you need to survive to get the grip.
Bro woke up and chose violence today - I’m here for it. Gg
1st character was a bleed cyclone from PoE builds that looked cool. I was stuck at yellow maps with a few div invested and had no other solution but to reroll into a real league starter build.
Same shit happened with me and a templar
Hell yeah, call these bitches out. I honestly thought it'd be Rue or Jung that would do it first. Thank you for saying what needed to said.

PoE Builds ruined my first 3 or so leagues when I tryed the game many years ago
I started playing in affliction and decided to follow poebuild vaal ice shot build after earning around 50 div by playing boneshatter jug.
They advertised it as "12 div and you have perfect gear and basically can do endgame bossing but you are a bit squishy".
Lo and behold, I felt that I have no dmg and die in 1 hit, I pull up their pob to look at the gear and the quiver alone costs 60div, so after investing over 100 div rn, the build feels pretty decent. Never using their builds again.
Bait = Melee
Good build = Spells, Aura's, Stackers, minions
Chad = Melee
Yooo, truly sorry if most of u guys felt that the 1 div is too baity, my initial plan on making the 1 div series is mainly intended as a challenge/entertainment, not a really build guide, and yes, i should make it crystal clear for newer players to know that it is not ideal to follow the 1 div set up unless you have some experience & only need a build "mockup"
anyway, good luck to everyone on Affliction league! may the mirrors be with you.
love your vids ty bro
Love the videos dude, love watching ppl just butt blast the game
Fast AF's build showcases and their '1 Div Challenge' are literally just that, showcases and challenges. If people fall for a bait that isn't there in the first place, it's their own fault.
it's certainly more than that. They scuff the numbers big time. I've seen several of their PoB's where they've added a skill or a few damage modifiers that doesn't belong. Or they are clearly showcasing it on a build with much higher budget than what is in the PoB.
wow, thx! This was actually useful, I just dodged a couple of bullets in crappy builds thanks to you
thx so much for pointing out those channels! they cost me a ton of time in the past
Maxroll guides are legit the most in depth guides I've come across so far
The thing I really love about their guides is how realistic we should expect the build to perform, spend, and possible aspirational things we can seek with them.
Ziz builds are as in depth as well tbh
If a build video is around an hour long, you can expect it to be pretty decent
I've found some that are at least as detailed but the Maxroll ones are dependably in-depth and function as advertised.
**laughs in 2 hour PoB-POV video with 500 views by the guy who invented the build 10 years ago**
Man electrical companies must hate you having sunglasses inside
How do i know what a tanky build looks like? Other than like 5k+hp maxed res and high armor/evasion what am i looking for/how do i knoe?
Anytime I’ve died or failed a boss attempt thus far hasn’t ever felt like the builds fault, it’s been me being bad at the game standing in a degen, or not knowing boss mechanics etc.
the builds that are "cheap" based of end league prices are my favorite :D
also 1div builds ill only believe jungroan .. this man can kill ubers on fking 4link ,his skil sis crarzy
and even tho i like 1div builds , i know there are skilled people behind that can do bosses on any shit build,it works but is not for new player even for advanced
Learning Pob confing saved me from lot of shity builds , can racomend learning even a basics.
I feel attacked by that summary....
This time I'm gonna play 1 build for the league, fuck you guy!
Love you.
What do you mean? My Lightning Trapper Poison Tincture Sabo with 8 Power Charges is bait?
4:20 i personally started my first character with lightningv arrow and it was a blast
God damn TPB 😂 Always a blast stumbling on one of your pre-league vids 🎉
Don't tell me to bait, if I want to bait I will bait, how else am I supposed to be come a master baiter, unless I bait all the time?
As someone who started playing in 3.21, i did fall for the Path Of Exile Builds scam, i invested all my time following a guide just to find out that the build video and idea was ripped from previous leagues and didn't work at all, thankfully i fell in love with PoE so i didn't quit and just restarted with some friend's help.
I got build baited by bigducks my 2nd league still havent forgave him haha
Hahaha what build was it? Big ducks is usually pretty good about guides
What build?
his bladefall/bladeblast got me to t16 maps but it was so squishy (3.14 league)
@@devaalous yes that's the one bfbb haha
@@HASTE1001 lmao
Herald of lightnibg autobombers were an epidemic, they turned a 40c unique into 5 div
I need 1 div builds. I don't have the time to farm. I have 1 div and I want to play some stuff for a while. How is that bad ?
Some years ago i followed a build from Poe Builds that seemed fantastic on paper... on practice it sucked so much that i quit the league
Is the Spectral throw CF/reap viable as a league starter?
i edged to your voice in this video, very nice sir 😍
??????????????
@@TripolarBear he almost nutted...but controlled lol

Thank you for calling out shitty bait youtube channels. These channels probably suck noobs in to pay for their "guides" all while being mediocre at best. Keep up the good work TPB
Great that you called out the BS channels, we need more of that! Ty for a good vid as always :)
I only trust POE content creators with sunglasses
