This movie was great, it moved at a good clip and built tension and Hugh Grant killed it. Classic spy thriller moved to the modern era. Seems like people were wanting an action movie and got mad it wasn't Snatch with guns.
I remember that movie blog interview John. So good to still keep up with your stuff.
I enjoy in silence, but means a lot
What you do!
Just saw it and was pleasantly surprised! It was just a great flick. Stylish, funny, fast-paced, every role done very well (except the "boss" with the blond hair, he was a bit weak). I was a bit afraid Aubrey Plaza was gonna be your modern boss-b!tch-men-suck, but she actually killed it.
I'd give it a 8/10 **for what is portends to be**.
I just happened to catch a commercial for the movie yesterday. First time I heard of it.
He was in The Gentleman!!
Loved this film. Hugh Grant was hilarious.
Same!!
I don’t get how the same guy that did Lock Stock and Snatch could make this.
Is like it’s a parody of Guy Ritchies early stuff.
The cast were on point and did all they could with what they had, but the writing/dialogue and some of the editing is literally horrendous.
I can’t believe this and Lock Stock is the same director.
Hugh Grant was also in the gentlemen too.
Already watched this on January where it came out earlier in Indonesia. It's Guy Ritchie's most straightforward movies. Definitely like this one and Hugh Grant stole the show. I give this 8/10.
Hugh Grant was also in Guy Ritchie's The Gentleman..
I walked out after the 45 minute mark and asked for my ticket $ back.
I’m half an hour in and this movie is pure torture
spot on review
Hugh Grant played the exact same character he played in the gentleman.
Guy Richie has worked with Hugh Grant before in The Gentlemen 2019 as well which was a great film.
This movie was fun! Some lines were laugh out loud funny and Hugh Grant does steal the movie. So does Josh Hartnett.
When I saw that Aubrey Plaza photo, I knew John was going to bring up the gun thing. Lol
Enjoyed it but definitely in the weakest Guy Ritchie movies alongside King Arthur. Hugh Grant definitely stole the show like you said. The plot was far too convoluted with no good payoff.
I’m with you John. I enjoyed the movie. Loved Aubrey Plaza and Hugh Grant in this. But also thought the plot was a little all over the place and the twist was a little weak. I still had a great time with this one.
Hugh grant made this movie. He was awesome.
Just saw it. Had fun. All you can ask for.
Hugh Grant and Josh Hartnett, let's talk about them: Grant is delightfully exaggerated as the Villain, the cool thing about his character is that it's someone ambiguous, you don't know if you're afraid or laugh, because he's a fun guy, a bon vivant, but make no mistake, he's dangerous and cruel when he's obstinate. Hartnett is hilarious as a ''Actor much loved by the Villain'', bringing the innocence and joviality needed for the Movie, some of Grant and Hartnett's interactions are some of the most entertaining, would say comic reliefs. Finally: ''Operation Fortune'' by Guy Ritchie is a must for fans of the Director, for fans of Espionage and Action Movies is an option, would not say it is better than ''Infiltrated'' despite it's different plots, we have the potential for a Franchise here, now the Public decides.
I live in Canada but Operation Fortune isn't playing near me.
I’m interesting in seeing this movie. My favorite Statham and Ritchie team up is Wrath of Man.
Hugh Grant was fucking amazing in The Gentlemen
@@aleksandarradovanovic8496 I'll have a pint and a pickled egg
I always love Guy Ritchie films but i was waiting for the typical Guy Ritchie twist. Love Hugh Grant dude is a acting genius!!!!
I do love the Cast. Audrey Plaza is great with the one liners.
Aubrey*
Also she's been good with those since parks in rec lmao
One liner= cringe s#!t
@@Lucas-cz5to OK bud
Just saw it! Loved it! But yea not the best Guy Richie movie, definitely a good night at the movies!!
Ha, I also noticed that Aubrey Plaza had problems with controlling the hand guns in this movie. But I am sure she will work on that for future movies. She is still very young. Am definitely a fan of hers.
She was born in 1984. She's 38. She is no longer very young my friend, it is you that got old
@@MelonWaterMelon777 My age is not a factor. She looks younger than 38. But she is still relatively young. In my opinion, anyway.
i feel like the cast'll give it a pretty nice box office
I watch Dave Batutista's zombie movie and this one is much more memorable than that.
well wrought action movie. a fun watch
King Arthur was a good movie and I will die on that hill.
I thought it was a good movie too and just don't understand the hate it gets.
itll never happen but I wish we got all 5 king arthur movies he wantedl ol
It wasn’t, your taste and standards stink
@@Lucas-cz5to no it was. It's pretty damn good. The music alone is great. Visually interesting, Jude Law was great. Everyone was good in it actually. They should have made more.
@Lucas maybe yours do...
Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie? Can't miss it. Looking forward to seeing this.
I’m half an hour and this movie is pure torture.
The comedy, fuck me man 😅
its SO BAD. i cant believe Guy Ritchie is doing these.
@@Jk-pk1oz yes. And the chemistry between the actors was so awkward 😂
@@TheRealDarrylStrawberry and I can’t believe I watched this movie till end. Statham and Guy Richie is a good combo, how could it go so wrong?
@@adamw7411 I made it 20 minutes maybe. I had to tap when Aubrey Plaza started making poop sounds or w.e. it was. Does it get any better? I think Ritchie needs to start using film again. His movies lately all look exactly the same. Flat, point and shoot, edit heavy. No camera movements. No slick edits. Nothing interesting (and Hartnett was hard to watch)
I love it.
Loved Hugh grant in love actually
The action scenes were good. The girl was excellent. Grant was great. Statham was Statham. The music was annoying and too loud. I didn't quite understand who was being killed. So many people were killed at the end. Who were they? Who blew up the stuff at the end? I felt the plot needed to be explained more.
Hugh grant blew up the stuff at the end? He literally walked in. Threatened them with his expensive rockets and literally called it in...
@@rainsounds112i didn't understand what the mission was to start with etc it was confusing for me but I still enjoy it
It turned to a seagul movie where they just blow up everything to wrap the runtime..
Reading this post its no wonder people didn't like this movie. If you checked out when people were talking and not just Statham kicking ass you went to the wrong movie.
When they pulled Josh Harnett in as "Bad Guy Loves this Actor' part we need him to get this guy. I thought of Nic Cage's Waist of Talent movie. It's not bad but it's just too soon for 'Clone' movie. Like Armagedon & Deep Impact similar stories coming out at the same time.
Josh Hartnett is alive?
He came back to life in Penny Dreadful eight years ago
@@finfog4590 never seen it
I really loved this movie 👏👏👏
This movie was supposed to come out around this time last year and for some unknown reason never did, been waiting for it the whole time so yes i knew lol
I loved it but it was a free movie for me but I admit I had a lot of fun with it I hope it becomes successful and gets a sequel I really love these characters ESP HUGH GRANT!
John I gave you a thumbs up and I own this blue-ray of operation fortune:ruse de Guerre.
Movie was enjoyable!
This movie was awesome. I wasn’t expecting much but I’m glad I watched it
It's better than revolver and Aladdin and king Arthur to come on now
King Arthur was pretty bad but without that we probably wouldn't have gotten Charlie Hunnam in "The Gentlemen".
Definitely redeemed himself and then some
You guys actively looking for something to dislike 😂. Good movie solid so was King Arthur. If you enjoy the movie it’s a good movie
It is shit
Watched half of it and got bored, and I love Guy Richie movies.
I hope generic Josh didn't get in the way too much. I'm just going to see Aubrey kick some butt in her own special way.
Right I liked the faculty tho.
I enjoyed it immensely, complaints about the editing? duh, they spent a year editing out that the bad guys were the Ukrainians, so blame who ever came up with that stupid fucking idea, just sayin
What was the stupid part? To have have the Ukrainians as bad guys...?
@@barryhercules6486 Well yeah, it's a cheap shot to have the villains be from the country that got invaded. It's like being in 1940 and make a movie in which the villains are jews. Dude. Not the time.
@@LordSesshaku so no Ukrainian can be a bad guy in a fictional movie? You're talking utter rubbish. Same with your 1940s comparison. They're fictional movies, they can reflect whatever they need to.
Ann Ann Ann where is Ann lol no where to be found
Why are characters so cocky and confident now
All trying too hard ,most new movies are like this
Bored after half hour 😌
B+
You must not realize he directed King Arthur: LOTS & fuckin Alladin lmao
This movie was created around Hugh Grant's character from the gentleman ...it failed.
ant man or this?
Ant man
I don't think it's a bad movie. But it is pretty forgettable...
I enjoyed it a lot. Definitely more than wrath of man.
The movie was surprisingly bad
Not that good. He needs to get back to movies like Swept Away.
As a huge fan of Guy Ritchie i have to admit it, He's lost it. This movie was not good.
Agreed. I think this movie had a solid plot. But its overwritten. Its too tedious and workman like when it should have been fast paced and thrilling.
My rating 5.
Likes - Well the visuals are great. This movie has some fantastic locations. You almost wonder. Are they real ?
The core plot is good. We have seen a lot of "save the world" plots that pretend to be great but are cliched, but here there is a bit of uniqueness in the plot. It is smart at its core.
Dislikes - As I mentioned this is an overwritten screenplay. Instead of presenting this as a tight spy action thriller with comedic elements intertwined , Guy Ritchie turns this into an elaborate character driven heist type movie. The kind he has done in the past.
But the plot of this movie was not suited for that type of narrative where you have smooth talking characters outsmarting each other. The plot of this movie was more suited for a fast paced spy action thriller loaded with fights and humor.
The movie just loses its grip after the start, and there is just no momentum in the plot. And whatever smartness or cleverness the characters display seems odd and distracting. I mean Jason Statham and Audrey Plaza are good actors and they cannot deliver a single punchline in the movie because the screenplay is too elaborate. Except when Statham gives the watch to one of the guys. Plaza is unbelievably flat in this movie. Probably the worst performance of her career. The only actor who seems to gotten some of his timing right is Josh Hartnett. He is the only actor who leaves some impression in what is severely uneven screenplay.
And the action scenes just lack any intensity or thrill. This movie must have had the most boring action scenes I have seen in a while.
Final Verdict - Operation Fortune ties too hard to be smart and clever when all it needed was to be fast and thrilling. Wasted chance.
@@brajeshsingh2391 The plot is terrible makes no sense, trying to be a B movie Mission Impossible and even failing there. terrible writing, jokes are awful, complete waste of time
this movie is terrible, couldn't even watch after 20 minutes, slow and boring, terrible acting etc.
very bad and boring movie. the dialogs... everyone is cocky, it gets so tiring.
It’s God awful GR worst
Movie easy
it was a really bad movie
