Hey Tom! Love the videos and wanna thank you for taking the time to film & upload them so us little guys can tackle things like transmissions. Question for you - have a 2004 impala 4T65-E that I’m preparing to install the valve body on - only thing holding me up is the screens that go into the spacer plate, can the plate & valve body be installed without those screens without harming anything? I’m unable to find a part # for those, or worse case scenario can the original molded separator plate be used? Thanks!

Thanks. The filters usually come in the rebuild kit. But you can leave them out. I reuse the molded gasket all the time. In a pinch if the gasket is messed up, you can soak it in drain cleaner overnight and it will come off. Most kits come with gaskets for it. Having said that I prefer to just get a new molded gasket from the dealer. Not terribly expensive.

Tom, you seem to know about these things. I have a 2004 Volvo XC70 with a bad transmission. I can buy a replacement AW55-51SN but it is out of a Nissan. Will it work right in my Volvo? The whole Nissan number is AW55-51sn 31020-ck710. I don't know where else to turn.

The valve body would work. As far as the whole unit, I'm not sure. There are a couple of different ratios for this unit. I don't have, nor could I find any information that says it will work. If it happens to be the same ratio, yes. What is keeping you from rebuilding yours? Usually these only need a rebuild kit with clutches, filter, bushing kit, T/C and new valve body. The main failure point being the valve body. Only every once in a while is the case bad.
