In the case the motor shaft is not magnetic centered, what will be the next step to center it?
I have search a lot but i had no answer!
There is generally a allthread bolt coming off of the motor casing with a tab hanging off of it and a groove scribed in the shaft. Rotate shaft until it floats a pull shaft slowly into position until tab lines up the scribe in shaft and then allow shaft to cease rotation and rest on bearing! Take measurement of coupling and move motor to that position using indicator of inside micrometer! Motor is now on pre determine mag center all though this most likely will change as the mag center was previously determined in different location then where alignment will be achieved after equipment is set.

I use rim and face as well a reverse and double reverse all the time! In fact it makes for a much more gratifying alignment process!

This is an actual alignment! All those lasers use the formulas used in this and other forms of indicator alignments!
If you have to use a laser your not a millwright, your a software analyst.
