A beautiful piece of music from The lost songs of St Kilda suite which I have had on cd for a number of years, glad Nicola chose to play this for the King.
I was obsessed with St Kilda a few years ago and bought several books about life there before the last inhabitants were evacuated. This piece of music really captures the swirl of the sea and danger on the mountain cliffs catching seabirds , and serene peace on a calm day.
Aye a place I have always marveled at how a community survived at the edge of the world hunting the Guga and living off a scarcity of land, water and livestock. Soay definitely brings to life the feeling of all that plus a wee bit of sadness that eventually the islanders had to admit defeat, no doubt with many misgivings and leave their wild homeland islands.
In listening to this I am reminded of a very beautiful soap opera called Love Is A MANY Splendored Thing. It takes me back to my childhood at home. BRAVO NICOLA! EVER SILKY!❤
Was outside the seramony,in the crowd s,and when this was playing over the speaker outside, every one fell silent,it was magical, and I had a tear in my eye😪
Yeah. Like the other Nicola and her mobile love wagon....that she fleeced off the Scotish tax payer. Don't even get me started on her successor, thats been awarded the title 'first minister' but absolutely nobody was given the opportunity to vote for. Or not as i suspect the case would be.
Is it possible for anyone to hear this without tears flowing? Especially if one knows the tragic history of St. Kilda, this stirs the heart to the most poignant depths. And what can be said to even suggest the fathomless beauty, inside and out, of Nicky Benedetti, not only a devoted musician and educator of the highest order, but a human being of the most generous, tender and vivacious character. The music, and her poised interpretation are enough to remind us: "All is not lost."
This is now my all time favourite piece of classical style music. It has soared above all the others & sits alongside Be Still My Soul by Craig Armstrong 🌟🙏❤❤❤🙏🌟
❤ I have viewed so many time this video... Inspiring beautiful sound and spirit. Would love to try to play this wonderful piece.. Where could I buy the note sheet, please?
Delighted that you love this piece, and watch regularly. Soay from the Songs of St.Kilda was originally an Orchestral suite, and I understand this arrangement played by Nicola was specially made for this unique occasion. You could try contacting Nicola or her Agent to ask if there's a published version for violin you could buy? 🥰
Its in a style of a beautiful soap operA called love is aany splendlred thing. Janice the charcter on the show would approve. My appologies if Ive denegrated a beautiul Scottish melodie, it simply reminded me of a warm sweet soap opera of years ago. In many ways I like Soay better thanediyation. Again anther transcendant shimmer from Nicolas strings.

And the protesters? Quiet too?

That made me cry. Absolutely beautiful.
I went to school with Nicola. She was talented even then. She’s amazing. 😊
School concerts must have been pretty good quality!
A wonderful performance.
Beautiful setting, beautiful piece, beautiful performer. When the camera angle shows the flowers in back of Nicola they become part of the dress.😍
Now that's talent right there
Absolutely stunning 😢
Nicola makes me feel proud to be Scottish - unlike some of our politicians.
Indeed!

Anyone found the music score for the violin? I can’t
Sorry, no. Have you tried contacting Nicola or her Manager to ask? I suggest this as it was adapted for violin specifically for that performance.
Many thanks
@@justinncelestelimkoh3564 Did you have any luck with this?
