RBI does not physically hand over gold in any form to the holder of Sovereign gold bond. SGB is just another method to increase fiscal capital but in the name of gold. Moreover, the fiscal capital amassed by issuance of SGB could be subject to usury by RBI when issued to subordinate banks and individuals. Usury on the other hand, eventually destroys wealth and increases fiscal divide between social tiers.
