I bought a 2015 Civic recently and the moment I realized that my phone fits perfectly in that spot, I had the same exact idea and seeing you execute on it is super super helpful. I'm going to try this now, thank you for the help!
Great guide. I did basically the same thing myself but hot glued the QI circuit board to a piece of plexiglass which I have angled in my cars cubby area. This way the phone sits on it at an angle and is easy to read GPS. I recommend people look for QC USB PCB on ebay/amazon so you dont even need to take a cigarette charger apart.
My dude you are awesome I've been searching a way to add a super fast charging port to my 2017 Chevy volt for my Samsung 8 plus i just purchased this looks like what i need thanks
Hey I’m thinking about doing a this type of mod to my car, but I was wondering if instead of taking apart a car cigarette lighter charger I could use a USB Female 2pin Bare Wire,USB Power Cable?
Question. WHy did u not use the lighter charger itself? why did u make extra wiring to connect it to fusebox? Is this maybe because u have one lighter in your car? or because its safer there? Can u please explain? Thx
Is it possible to place the qi charger in a 2017 Hyundai Elantra GLS? The storage space for a smartphone is so small for my LG smartphone... barely sits flat. It's at a tilt / angle.
This is fantastic, undoubtedly the best video I have seen on this. I wanted to make one but the QC adapters are "out of stock" what can I use to solder to get this quick charge feature? I would just pick another, but would the solder joints be on other car adapters?
Hey Tim, thank you for the positive feedback. If you want to solder, I would use a kit like this (amzn.to/2HnSAEh). Take a look at my description for all of the other parts I used. If you have any questions along the way please feel free to ask.
thanks for the response, I'll did that and I'm just waiting for wireless charger to arrive. I have another question about the fuses. When you add your fuses and you used 2x15amp fuses, can you stick them anywhere in your fuse box irrespective of what the spot called for? I'm not using the ACC, as I have no electrical mods done, aside illuminated treadplates, but should I use 2x15 or 2x10, I'm not really sure how this works? Thanks for your help
@@timk.537 You want to pick something not important like the washer or cigarette port on the fuse panel, then you take the fuse out of the original spot and put it in the add a fuse. Then you put whatever fuse in the other port that will work for the charger (this fuse protects the added line that you are putting in). You will have to check the instructions or online to tell which port is which on the add a fuse.
Very smart and awesome video! Will be trying it out for my self for sure. Wondering about fire hazards and what not tho. How safe is this? I would think the wires will be fine since they are grounded but is the wireless charging plate fine to leave under the plastic?
I don't think there is an issue since people put these wireless charges on their bedside table when they're sleeping. The wireless charger just gets a little warm but not enough to hurt anything
Akhmedov Ziyadin Hi can u update if u witnessed any fire hazard as i am going to install the same on my fluidic Verna and iam little bit tight on technical stuff. Thanks
I think the grounding is a bit over board for low voltage QI "Wireless" its just not necessary however good techniques for making a clean non rushed tutorial.
could you tie the usb charger you pull apart to your cigarette lighter wires? I have like four cigarette lighters in my truck so I was wondering if you thought I could tie into those wires and then not have to run it into the fuse box?
Yes, you can tap into the 12v power supply! That is the same power that I am using. I Just wanted to stay away from cutting any wires in case of warranty issues or reselling the car since I can pull out the add-a-fuse.
Can I just solder the top of the prong of the USB charger to the positive and either or side of the prong to ground instead of taking it apart? I bought a different USB car charger since it's out of stock and it's so hard to take it apart so was wondering if I could do that instead would it be as effirnct but ugly
CluEngineer Thanks bro soon gonna try it and let u know ;D. There is also no fire hazard also related to wireless charger? Like plastic position or anything?
CluEngineer mine is 2015 hyundai verna SX variant. Indian model just recenty got wireless charging in their anniversary edition so thought of installing same in my car.
CluEngineer oh I mean in the car charger that you disassemble is it just connected to the positive wire (like in the battery terminal) Sorry I am not techie in this kind of stuff but with your video it looks easy =). Thank you for replying quick
Thank you I just realized it was the negative xD. Thank you man subscribe on your channel keep it up happy to see all the mods on the 2013 my next one is the speaker that you did =)
Hey quick question about addafuse, I'm tapping into the cigarette lighter and I'm getting constant power while there cigarette lighter is getting acc power how is this possible? I'm working on a 2015 Civic LX
Are you saying the power is always on even if the car is off? Some cars have the 12v socket always powered on. If you dont want that find a power source that turns on and off like what I did. Hope this helps!
@@92813justin no the socket is acc power and that works normally, the item I'm trying to connect is now on all the time and I've tried every possible acc fuse
Why not wire the usb cable directly from the charging pad to the add a fuse instead of dismantling the plug-in usb port, soldering etc? Does the socket reduce the current reaching the charger?
I''ve answered my own question.....yes! Voltage reduction from 12-5 from socket. Have now done this and have wireless charger in my car . Yayy!! Thanks for the idea.
That is a great question. A couple of days ago, I went on an hour and 15-minute drive and the phone charged from 49% to 100%. That's not too bad. Around town, it will charge it about 5% while I am driving around.
Great Job.
America needs more people like you !!!!
Thank you!!!!!!!

The thought counts. Let us know how it goes
You're awesome man. My Dad would be proud of you because he's an electronics guru. Good job!
Thank you!

Well hell yes. This looks awesome, simple and a damn good mod to do. Plan on doing this to my 2016 Dodge Dart, as we have the same type of tray setup.
Perfect. It's great when your friends see your phone charging without any cords.
Honda Accords already come with wireless charging built in you basically built a concept for that which was pretty cool
BMWman1029 thanks. I thought that was cool too. Maybe they saw my video and thought it was a good idea. Haha
CluEngineer they probably thought it was about time to add one lol. Thanks for the reply. Definitely a 👍🏻 & subscribe!
I thought this was the guy from Spiderman Homecoming
Good job dude!
Thats quiet good. Good job
Thank you
very good young man.. looked really Pro!!
A trick: you can watch movies on flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Jake Zander Yea, have been watching on Flixzone for months myself :D
That was really impressive! Now to see how to do it on my ford fusion 🤔
Thank you! Good luck with the Fusion
My dude you are awesome I've been searching a way to add a super fast charging port to my 2017 Chevy volt for my Samsung 8 plus i just purchased this looks like what i need thanks
Now I'm looking for video in motion bypass
You are welcome! I am glad you found me.
What do you mean by motion bypass? For your car?

You just gave the auto industry's an idea...nice job
I know, I did this before they had them. lol
@@92813justin Err no, Toyota had Qi wireless charging in 2013, but yours is cool anyway.
very good job bro pretty nice & clean.
Thank you, Jaydeep Vadgama!
Good job dude. Keep it up!
Hey! Thank you, I appreciate it.
Good video, however, not all phones support wireless charging, check before you proceed with this, (charging adapters can be purchased from e bay)

From where you bring the fuse connecter ?
Damn good tutorial man! I thought about this myself but ended up just going with a QI dash charger so I can still use my phone for GPS. (Jake)
Thank you Jake!
How do you like that QI dash charger?

That should work since that's how the 12v socket gets it power anyways. Good luck on your install!
Awesome video brother. I will be trying with my fluidic Verna soon. Just have one concern about fire hazard. Can u comment on same.
Thanks
No concerns. That's why I have fuses in case of a short.
CluEngineer Thanks bro soon gonna try it and let u know ;D.

Not that I am aware of. Be as careful as possible. The new cars have wireless charing now so it shouldn't be a big worry.

Thank You!
Where do you connect the ground wire it did not show in the video, I have a civic 2014 and this is exactly what I am looking for
I used the bolt to the right of the fuse box underneath the steering wheel.

I've thought of such a thing but if there is a temperature problem, what do you think about it?
The plastic will hold up to the temperatures that the charger will convect out.
This is why I love engineering
Me too!
2018 Honda Civic, now with built in wireless charging
Mac that's sick!
Can you do this for my sante fe 2019 please

Real wireless
You look so much like Tom Holland
Is that an instruction on how to burn down your car as fast as possible? Be careful with open wiring like that!
