I'm 6'1" tall. I sat in all the mid size trucks at the Toronto Auto Show. Ranger comfort was miles ahead front and rear in terms of space and seat comfort.
Yeah we are all tall in the rest of the planet. Ranger serves us well. But it's the Fatty Americans that might want the full size truck. Being overweight is really a disability and the full size trucks are invented specifically for disabled folk
The 2023 Ford ranger is very small for me. Do you think the 2024 ranger has more seat room leg space the the Ford Maverick? The ranger has that wide center console!
You guys are the best. Watching you is fun, I love the chemistry between you. I recently purged my UA-cam subscriptions because I had too many UA-camrs doing car reviews and their content eventually bored me over time but you guys are my favorite channel now! I have seen other UA-camrs trying to keep things interesting by brining in their spouses to do car reviews but it's not a very natural interaction and it leaves much to be desired, so kudos to you for your great content!
I just bought a 2024 Ranger Lariat 4x4 Sport with the 2.7L V-6 about a month ago. Have just under 2000 miles on it and I absolutely love it. So far I haven't found anything I dislike. Everything is incredible with the new Ranger. The ride, the power of the V-6, the roomy seats. The B&O sound system is amazing and is just right for the cab of the Ranger. I have had many Rangers overtime starting with a 1990 and this new 2024 Ranger is by far the best Ranger. Ford did good with this new Ranger.
I owned a previous Gen Ranger . Lariat, FX4 . I had a 2024 on order loaded as I wanted it which was quite pricey. Configured as I wanted , ( Lariat, FX4 , bedliner, box step etc ) with taxes added on, Pdi etc , it was over $68,000 CDN . Thats a lot for a mid size truck. !!! The 'new' to North America Ranger has been plagued with delays. With the incentives and stock on F150s I finally cancelled my 2024 order and bought a 2023 F150. For a little bit more ,relatively, you are getting way more truck . I suspect thats what will happen with many buyers. P.S Ive been a long time subscriber and still really enjoy your reviews...great job
Especially right now with the $9K off and 2% financing Ford and GM are doing on full size trucks. This Ranger with the 2.7 is rated for the same economy as my F-150 with the 2.7. People seem to love these things but personally I don't get it. You have to really need the smaller size for it to make sense because you get a lot more in a full size.
Honestly I think it'll come down to a shift in philosophy and perception with the newer generation of drivers. Let's use the computer industry as an example, people will pay three times as much for a fancy laptop over a desktop which has more power and ability just because a laptop is smaller and more portable. Watch the compact truck market explode, even though the new Maverick is no longer cheap. If the result is full size trucks end up becoming the cheaper option, I'm cool with that.
This appears to be one of the very best, if not THE BEST… new vehicle for sale these days. Not just for a mid-sized pickup… but for all classes. The price is… well, for lack of a better word… fair ($50,000 certainly isn’t pocket change!), but I think it over delivers on what they give you (especially within current automotive markets). It offers a great size, great interiors with amazing creature comforts, great power plants (maybe), great towing numbers, fuel economy and all that for a lot less than everything on the market. Everything except for the Chevrolet Colorado, maybe. I think it will attract new buyers to trucks, new buyers for other brands (including Toyota) and will ‘steal’ the new buyers who were originally considering an F-150. Well done Ford! But it really begs to question… who really needs a $75,000 plus!! F-150/Ram/Silverado? I might add that it certainly does NOT replace a full size pickup (passenger space, power plants (diesels), box lengths, size or tow ratings. But for people who trailer a pop-up tent trailer, put $3,000+ mountain bikes… those going garden centres… or park inside a garage), this is probably the best pickup… best vehicle, to facilitate those urban lifestyle requirements. Thanks for the video.
I’ve been waiting for this. Have driven trucks most of my life. The nice thing about ford is that actually tow real amounts. The latest GM midsize also towns north of 7000 points. Which need for my boat!
I completely agree with you Zack, Ford has really upped his game. This is the first Ford I’ve had since my Ranger back in the 80s I bought a Ford maverick hybrid really love this truck. I know Zack loves it too. He should just get one. This tank I am averaging 54 miles per gallon. I do all city driving and know how to get every last mile per gallon out of my maverick Hybrid. At this point, I would definitely buy another Ford.
Another great review guys👍 Nice truck 🛻 Ford has come a long way in making feature filled vehicles at a competitive price point. I love my 2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL though.
Thanks for the review! I drive a '23 Ranger (Tremor, Lariat), its a nice truck albeit with terrible fuel economy. One important thing (to me) that I see they've changed for the new model is that the heat and fan controls are on a dial. I either have to take my eyes off the road to find the right screen, or pull over and park to find the right button to use in the dark mass of identical black buttons below the screen - neither are ideal, obviously. One thing to note: I recently had to replace a rear tail light assembly and it was a staggering $1900 Cdn!! What's even more shocking is that it didn't even have the parking sensor electronics in it, I had to take them out of the broken unit and install them in the new one. Lastly, one big (massive, in my opinion) advantage the Tacoma has is that manual transmission. That is what will eventually see me trading in my Ranger for a Taco when Toyota announce that they will no longer be offering that option. That, and the fact that a properly cared for Taco will probably see me through to the point where I can no longer drive. I'm not sure that a Ford would. Love your reviews! Thanks from Yellowknife!
21 mpg is pretty bad though, IMO. I came from a Honda Civic that would have got close to twice that! My choice though, and fuel economy always tanks here during winter. Cheers.
Wow! They still have snow there and looks cold. I am not big fan of trucks but nice interior tho. I laugh when you said you put your bike back there and go on your own and seeing Zack reaction is so funny. Great video Andrea!
what a great idea to use the bed outlet for espresso while camping! I'm going to do it - my maverick is supposed to show up in the next week or two and has the plug in the back
I can’t wait to get my hands on The Ranger Raptor and hits the trails with it . I really enjoy your videos and help me on my decision to buy this truck over the Tacoma . 😎😎
Nissan in Canada is going to have to land on earth and cut their pricing by $7-8k to have a chance to remain competitive now that both new Tacomas and Rangers are available. But what no reviewers are aware of or disclosing is the 2024 Ranger production is already sold out in Canada so you will have to wait almost 1 yr before being able to get one unless you find on the very few ones in stock. Lots of hype likely justified but way too late to capitalize on it. Ford, tss tss...
In Australia it’s not only the best selling pickup, but also the best selling car and to beat Toyota Hilux in the Australian market is a huge accomplishment.
The 24 Ranger plus it’s predecessor have Amber Turn Lamps in the tail lights and this is very important to me and it’s the ONLY Midsize truck equipped with them….I told the salesman about this and why their important and he wasn’t aware of them at all and thanked me
I think the pick ups in this segment will become the full size pick ups within the next 10 years. I think the US automakers are realizing that they are repeating the events of the 70's, build the biggest cars and you are seeing how Imports are following, take how much the Tundra and the Titan have grown in size since their introduction. The US is in love with their trucks and this how they will keep the attention once they start to downsize due to future gas prices and make way to EV's.
great review, as always. one question tho, how is this new ? my step mum lives down in australia & has one these. this generation ranger been on sale there for a few years now.
That vertical touchscreen is gawdy. Cut it in half and give us back a few buttons. I like a touchscreen, but in limited doses please. Whoever figures that out will run away from the competition. No one wants to screw around with a computer while driving down the freeway at 80 mph.
I do wish this had more of an aggressive stance like the Colorado trail boss. Having more off road packages without going into raptor would be muchly appreciated.
Great video as always guys. Unfortunately new pick up trucks are losing their utility more and more. Zach is right, 6 foot beds are far more usable than 5, never mind getting gardening materials I’m thinking more like sheets of plywood, drywall, lumber.
Just looked on line, for a ford Ranger all in, $84500.oo on a full loaded, 4x4 v6 for a midsize truck in Ontario Canada, that's crazy money as far as I'm concerned.
When I bought my first truck in ‘97, a Dakota, the lady explained it . . . “Every man’s gotta have a truck.” The psychology drives the price, will you look good sitting in it, and it’s whatever the barter will bear.
Hopefully they will decide to offer heads up display and heated and ventilated seats in the future. All the other new mid-size pickups offer these options. If you've owned a truck or car with these two options you want them, especially when you pay as much as these new mid-size pickups cost.
I am a contractor and I’ve been driving Ford’s since 1998. Ford has abandoned guys like me, hard-working, blue collar people who build America. “F” Ford. And for that matter, the other truck manufactures who don’t realize that going forward there’s gonna be less people in the trades because we can’t afford the trucks necessary to pull our trailers.
I really like the Ranger, but I'm one of the people who wants a sunroof/moonroof in every car they own. They offer it in the Maverick, F150, Escape and Explorer.....why not the Ranger? It's a minor thing, I guess, but if I'm spending $50k USD on a vehicle I'd like to order it the way I want it equipped. That may be enough on it's own to push me to another vehicle.
Many consumers feel cars are way overpriced, do you guys think the manufacturers can fix this to encourage consumers to buy new cars in the near future again?
The inflation caused by COVID lockdowns and money printing has done the harm... Prices are unlikely to go down, maybe they will stop at this level and consumers will eventually psychologically adjust to them and wages might grow a bit as well
I think the price for EVs will continue to go down, but for ICE and Hybrid, likely not. What see manufacturers doing is releasing vehicles like the Ranger and Mavrick as cheaper alternatives to the more expensive F150. It’s not just the inflation caused by COVID, it’s also the high interest rates making it expensive to own (borrow) anything. We had relatively good rates for 10-15 years, so that lack of borrowing power hurts consumers AND companies’ ability to move forward. Finally I really think companies have switched to selling fewer cars at higher prices/margins vs. selling many cars at lower margins.
@@mijas-rus2715 I think you are right. If manufactures drastically reduce their prices now or 2025 models, it will destroy the value of the cars bought/made in the last 2-3 years. Guess the other YT thumbnails of "car industry doomed", "dealers are desperate" are all fake news.
No. Manufacturers aren't artificially inflating prices. Todays prices are a result of 100 years of government driven inflation. There are only 2 ways to reverse it. 1) a total collapse of our economy, a 2nd great depression. 2) government, dictated by voters, gets out of all hand outs and private business business. Sadly, the American people continuously ask government to get more involved and give out more money. That's only accelerating the economic collapse. Which, although would suck for 100s of millions of people, would reset things.
Ford for us stands for “Fix Or Repair Daily”. Getting better but if you’re interested in the Tacoma this still isn’t enough to sway people. Great review as always guy’s!!
Owned a Gen 2 and Gen 3 Tacoma both bought brand new. Nothing special, same old problems (tranny, no power, horrible fuel mileage). US News and World Report ranked Tacoma #9 out of 10 (Jeep was last) in reliability. Toyota made great trucks 20 years ago. Today they are over-priced and unreliable.
@@Trades46nope brothers 22 pro 4x got the service at warning light last night. Took 2 hours to get a tow he was stuck at a job site. Wasn't happy. Still hasn't gotten an update on the issue
I was thinking about getting a new Ranger until this week when I found out they do not come with auto-4wd like the Colorado/ Canyons. Wet roads and patchy snow and ice around here How did Ford miss this?
I like it, but it sure gets spendy. I just built a Lariat with the FX-4 and tech package and a couple of options and it's $59k (and that's without the V6 as it isn't available yet). I like it, but I don't know if I like it for $59k. I don't know, maybe $59k is the new $40k.
@@TheHuntedLion That's not how prices are set between Canada and USA. Canadian trucks are quite a bit cheaper when currency is taken into account. Take a look at the other trims like Lariat Ranger. Something is up with the Raptor. Could be the Canadian one is way better equipped maybe?
@gs98999 It could be better equipped. We don't know. But, the overall price difference is mainly driven by currency conversion, which is what I think he was asking about.
Nice review. So of the 4 midsize vehicles you profiled by comparison to the Ranger, which one you you buy if you had to. I currently have a 2018 Honda Ridgeline that I have had several mechanical issues with including having to replace its transmission at the 96 thousand KM mark as well as fuel injectors and other issues.
Ive had several Ranger extended cab 6ft boxers over the years. If they built that id be very interested, but that box space is practically useless for hauling stuff i hual. And cab space is just storage for me. GM,Ford, now the Nissan Frontier isnt available in Canada with a bigger box. I guess ill continue to drive full size extended cab/double cab trucks cause the mid sizers just dont have the box space i want.
They did a good job but the Price is just crazy for this now. They have 9% APR on these trucks which means the top of the line model will cost you $85 K CDN in total with tax over 84 months. Sorry but that is just out of reach for younger folks. Unless you can put a massive down payment 50% at least it is way overpriced. I will stick with my F150 2.7 eco boost.
I'm 6'1" tall. I sat in all the mid size trucks at the Toronto Auto Show. Ranger comfort was miles ahead front and rear in terms of space and seat comfort.
The rear seat is even comfortable for a pick up truck, I couldn't believe it.

The Ranger Tremor with the 2.7 would be perfection.
yes but 55k price would be the problem...nothing is perfect
The scenery is absolutely breathtaking
I like seeing a light-color interior in a Ford especially. Locally all dealers only bring in black interiors which I despise.
And unless it's leather I would absolutely hate lite colored cloth.
Too many dirty outdoor activities for that
@@rodjbosch Black seats get just as dirty and show dust, fluff and pet hair much more than lighter shades. Dirty is dirty.

I agree. We typically opt for the light colored interiors as they seem more inviting and airy.

Ford is really doing a good job with knowing the market. First the Maverick and now this? Makes me want to own a pick-up!
They do OK with the F-150 too. Trucks are kind of their thing.

Nope, no going back on pricing. They need the $ to pay for the ev nonsense
Ford for us stands for “Fix Or Repair Daily”. Getting better but if you’re interested in the Tacoma this still isn’t enough to sway people.
Great review as always guy’s!!
The Tacoma is not that reliable buddy
The most reliable midsize pickup surprisingly is the Nissan Frontier
Owned a Gen 2 and Gen 3 Tacoma both bought brand new. Nothing special, same old problems (tranny, no power, horrible fuel mileage). US News and World Report ranked Tacoma #9 out of 10 (Jeep was last) in reliability. Toyota made great trucks 20 years ago. Today they are over-priced and unreliable.
@@Trades46nope brothers 22 pro 4x got the service at warning light last night. Took 2 hours to get a tow he was stuck at a job site. Wasn't happy. Still hasn't gotten an update on the issue
Tacoma for 2024 has many problems which they the establishment is suppressing
Pickup truck utility must have 6’ bed not a grocery pickup 😂
I was thinking about getting a new Ranger until this week when I found out they do not come with auto-4wd like the Colorado/ Canyons. Wet roads and patchy snow and ice around here
How did Ford miss this?
Great for catching more rocks in the front end. Yes, box need to be bigger…
I like it, but it sure gets spendy. I just built a Lariat with the FX-4 and tech package and a couple of options and it's $59k (and that's without the V6 as it isn't available yet). I like it, but I don't know if I like it for $59k. I don't know, maybe $59k is the new $40k.
Why the $30,000 difference between Canadian Raptor and that one in U.S.
Currency conversion.
I wish the Ranger offered a sunroof too.
Zack, there are spy shots around Dearborn of a 6ft bed test truck
With import tariffs weren't so horrible for trucks and Ford was just able to bring the Global version over vs. a redesigned North American version.
It's the Ford Ranger Day.
I have the 2.7L in an F-150 and my average is 9.2L/100km, so these numbers should be easy to beat with the lighter Ranger.
I just really like everything Andrea likes and nothing. Zach likes L O L.
Yes, the tough part is the price, when they have tons of rebates on the F150, you can buy an F150 almost at the same price of a Ranger.
Is there any reason to get a 4wd Lariat trim over the Raptor? It's nearly the same price.
Towing and payload would be the only reason to go Lariat over the Raptor. If you don’t tow and like to off-road, I’d go for the Raptor.
@@leeraymer166 Thanks!
Despite almost every manufacturer introducing a new mid size in the past couple years, only the Tacoma is available with a 6ft bed. Non starter for me
Is there an option on any trim for air suspension to lower height? Thanks !
No there isn't.
There is no date for the V6 released by Ford ( in Canada ) so don't hold your breath
Nice truck but no 6 foot box is a deal breaker!
Test Driving a 2024 Ranger in March 2024 is like having the millennial new years party on December 31st 2000. Late and last.
Mpg’s?
DID you guys do a video on the nissan pathfinder at all?
Yes
@@Motormouth... how can I find that video. I want to watch it
@@antoniocognato5023 search motormouth pathfinder
@@Motormouth... thank 😊 you
Ive had several Ranger extended cab 6ft boxers over the years.
Deciding between this or the colorado 🤔
I work for chevrolet, but ford has better deals!
Rear AC should be on the truck in the US …the overseas Ranger has it…odd it was left off here
They did a good job but the Price is just crazy for this now.
