Ic anybody actually reads this comment, just a bit of a tip: DO NOT touch the processor or the heatsink surface with your bare fingers because there are lots of nasty oils and acids on human hands that can cause problems for durability and also apply liquid metal directly to the processor/apu ONLY. One other thing that isnt a huge deal either but still not good is the use of standard "cotton swabs" because they leave little fibers behind. Should be using "lint free" or swabs specifically made for thermal paste. This cleaning method isn't bad he just shows some bad habits during the process.
Put the liquid metal on the cpu only but leave the heat sink dry and clean when put back together?

do you have to remove the old liquid metal? why can you not just apply some new liquid metal with the old liquid metal? i dont understand how OEM liquid metal goes bad
Hi, oem liquid metal is leaking down on the ps5 and it cause oxidation on the apu and cooler. Thats why there is that dark and empty spot. You need to clean it before you apply new liquid metal. It needs to be shiny clean and dry for better application and performance.

I’ve had my ps5 vertical since 2020. I share it with my son it gets played a max of 7-8 hr a day I’ve never had this problem. I don’t think the ps5 being vertical is the issue
