Massive sessions! 30k of total volume remotely close to target marathon pace in the context of a 200k week is epic. You’re both more than ready to run under 2:20 when fresh. Nick looked stronger in this session but then it was cooler and battersea park is a runners paradise for flatness! Matt seemingly had a bit more traffic and humidity to deal with too. Good luck guys.
nick is really high energy, i love it. great effort by both of you, all the best at rotterdam!
9:04 Matt steaming while changing shoes 🔥
One of the best videos in this channel so far. The rivalry/camaraderie between you too. Also, non elite but this is talking, being funny, making jokes while running 32min 10km, awesomeness
It’s good to see sub-elite athletes on this channel. I saw Nick Bester got a 2:20 PB in Rotterdam so interesting to see what his workouts looked like in the run up. Thanks for the videos
Nick Bester, a true inspiration thanks!! 🔥
Really great to see these kind of videos in addition to the professional stuff! Both of your racetimes are a still a large leap for the majority of us but are a lot more approachable and just such grounded commentary when reflecting on your own form/performance. Good luck to the two of you for Rotterdam.
Who ever thought to the same session and record it like that needs a pat on the back, great idea. Absolute beast of a session, best of luck at the weekend
That’s an absolute monster of a session! Hope you both still have enough left in the tank for Rotterdam
Matt, you look ready.
your float pace is so impressive, let alone those 3 big blocks! i think my heart would explode if i attempted this session. so funned inspiring to see talented runners doing their thing!
Can't help but think if Matt was actually running with Nick he would have hit the numbers.
This is absolutely amazing lads! Wish you both the best for the race!
Been waiting for this one, it’s been great to see their friendly rivalry/banter on Instagram over the last few weeks! Wishing them both the best of luck this weekend!
I know right Andy. Nick teases that it’ll be up, i checked a couple of days to see if it just wasn’t showing in my feed. Ha
@@woody369 yeah I’ve been checking the channel daily for this one!
@@justalilbester have you had any communication with Seth?
@@justalilbester I will be tracking you, Matt and Seth. I wish you the best. “The body achieves what the mind believes”. Go crush it 🔥🔥🔥
Feel like I’ve waited eternity for this to finally release!
Such a cool format - love it!
Great video! Wishing you the best of luck on race day!
Awsome workout. Thank you for sharing you give me great inspiration.
Great video, good luck, I'm sure you'll both smash it on race day!
That’s a monster workout. Can’t wait to see you both smash Rotterdam!
Feels like Rocky vs Drago with the split screen!!!
Anxious to see the battle between this two guys and Seth James Demoor , Let’s gooooooo ❤️🔥🏃🏻
Incredible session!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen that much MP volume before
Awesome video boys! Ah man, I felt for Matt, sweating it out in Portugal. Both looked so strong. Can’t wait to see how this weekend goes… I’ll be tracking however I can!!
🤞 for Rotterdam Matt
Epic!
Great Vid. That truck that went past, when Matt was changing shoes, scared the hell out of me.😲
I was listening through headphones on the elliptical.
Good luck in Rotterdam boys.
Great work. Keep it up. Your training is going well
Great results! Sub-2:20s! (I'm glad it's 86*/30* for my workout today).
This was such an awesome video. You guys are going to smoke it!
Rooting for both to go sub 220, but frankly Nick looks better despite the slower PB.
Quality video
I hope they cross the line pretty close to each other, if I had to pick one it’s Matt, gotta stick together us Aussie lads 🤘🏽
Phil Kissi came up with this session three years ago at battersea , good to see my work is being recognised
If matt got a better time after the marathon, that's a prime example of don't judge a runner by its form coz the way it looks even in the first rep his already look tired and pushing!
what a session, great video!!!
what were their hear rate? do they care or only train with time/pace?
all the best for rotterdam!
Matt💪😀
Please make a video for elite marathon runners suppliments
I would have liked to see Matt try this with Prime x's too haha
I drink a monster before most workouts, sits better in my stomach then coffee.
Thanks Matt. Would love it if you could get a shot of the guy filming -- seems like he must be an acrobat...
Huge session! What time do you wake up for a 7am workout like this? Are you eating beforehand? Thanks
Basically avg 30km @MP, ~10km moderate .... about the same as running a hard 30km race 3weeks out from race day.
Most people would say it's too hard an effort, but each their own.
boomshakalaka lol
I gotta train with you guys! Right at my level of fitness
@Sweat Elite, It would be good if you publish the results of the athletes that competed.
Matt sweating like a race horse post warm up 😁..............Looked so tired after Kenyan trip! Nick was smoking.... The Prime X rock!.....................wonder how Nick will feel dropping down to the Pro 2 s?
I’m doing the same workout in 2 days. I’m 3weeks out from the 26.2
SJD shaking his head wondering why they aren't running 10:00 miles.
Nick is finishing 1st
LeTtTtTtTsSsSs GoOoOoOooOo
Hope the cough gets better Matt
nick looks stronger. and matt was wraring alphaflys, nick "only" primex
Yeah but being day 5 down from altitude is no joke - I think they are neck-in-neck fitness wise.

Sub-Elite? You are Elite man, don’t underestimate you. Not running a 2:10 marathon doesn’t mean you are not elite
Sub-elite is still a super impressive distinction. It’s kind of just the truth that you’re not elite unless your around 2:10 though.
The whole distinction between elite and sub-elite is completely arbitrary. How can you draw the line at 2.10? Surely someone running a 2.10 marathon in these new shoes can't count as elite either, since there's tons of Africans running closer to 2 hours flat. If you place yourself in a category "sub-elite" it just shows you want to distinguish yourself from other practitioners of the sport. Just do your training and be the best version of yourself, as good as you can be, and stop inventing these arbitrary hierarchies.
It's like, uuuu I can't be elite, so I'm gonna call myself sub-elite instead. Pitiful.
Agreed these guys are dedicated and train very similar to elites. I'd say "elite" means you are running professionally and/or qualifying or close to for Olympic/World Champs/Comm Games etc
@@classicalgreekintroductory6045 Theres actually categories named sub-elite on some races... Maybe look at your own insecurities first?
5:10 right off the bat your running efficiency is really poor. You're a 2:10 or under marathoner being piloted by a beginner. usually I only see this bad form in triathletes...
Form tells us so much. Last year I was able to accurately predict race results by watching peoples cadence and form in the first few minutes of cross country races. It is amazing how much of a tell it is. Then I started to spot the actual functional but different running form among some elites which still works and isn't just inefficiency... bouncing up and down doesn't belong in an endurance race - we're not tigger.
