I have this rack and I use the long j-hook for squats in the high parts of the rack. And the short j-hooks for bench press with any problem. I put a black tape in the J -hooks to protect the olympic bar im using.
I bought this rack from big 5 like 3 weeks ago and I really like it. It was for like $230 but it came with a cheap bench which I also love because it inclines and declines. The j hooks indeed spin but a bungee cord on each an they don't spin at all. The only thing I don't like about it is that the side pillars are not that wide and hits my elbows while doing wide grip bench press. For the price and the fact that I found one during these times I'm mote than happy with it. When I have some time Im gonna weld a flat 1/8" thick by 1" wide bar on the top portion of the j hook were the bar seats so they don't spin. Can also wrap the j hooks with paracord to prevent scratches.
John Keyno I didn’t notice that the rack it’s self is not very wide especially whenever doing pull ups I feel like I don’t have a lot of room. So I see what you’re saying thank you for the tips about the J hooks.

Nice overview of the unit. The solution that I have for the J-Hooks with the powder coat or paint wearing off is to cover them with clear vinyl tubing that I have. Really any hose will do, I just happen to have a bunch of the clear food grade vinyl tubing. Cut to fit and slice the hose to slide around the peg and keep the slice on the underside of the peg. That should hopefully solve that problem. The other issue with the back of the hook slapping around is clearly because it looks like the hooks are made for 2" square tubing and this rack is not using square tubing but rather rectangle. I have much better hooks (made for 2" square tubing) with locking bolts on the back of them that I will try to use on this rack and then use the hooks that came with it on a smaller rack that I leave curl bars on. But a possible solution to take up the space you showed at the back of the J Hook would again use some smaller hose and slide it on the thinner round steel of the hook on the back to take up that extra space. At the end of the day, we shouldn't have to be creative like this, but for under $200, to be expected. The J Hooks that I have most likely cost way more than the 4 cheaper looking hooks that are coming with the unit as they are welded flat steel with riveted protective pads, etc. But I think my plans with the hose will work on the J Hooks that come with the unit.
@@asdhajkslkjadsfauyewh5617 The J-Hooks that I have do not fit this unit unfortunately. They only fit the 2" x 2" square tubing. But the vinyl hose that I mentioned to cover the pegs that came with the unit worked fine and I have no issues.
Im looking to get this and im going to put temporary bolts in my shop floor so its sturdy but so I can move if needed. Also you could glue some foam to the jay hook so you're not metal on metal.
Yea it does. It has the J Hook wholes down the full length of the bars. I have used it to bench a lot. I will say the J Hooks do scratch the bar up a little but not bad.
Thanks for video review. Recommend brother Save up, Get Rogue so worth it. USA made too. Even if it means waiting little while to save up. Promise you so worth it then getting cheaper make and taking risk j-hooks may fail. Also don’t chance overall frame quality is questionable on higher weight load. Safety first

You reviewed an entire squat rack without telling anyone what brand it was
I have the same exact one in my home gym and it is definitely worth the money. Thank you for the review because it really helped

How long were the bungee cords that you used?

What are the replacement J-hooks called?

Are there any good replacement J-Hooks for this rack?
thanks for the review! ive been looking for a cheap squat rack
Yea Definitely not bad for the price.
How are the joints that holds the rack? I had an old cap rack, similar, and it would bend badly when using Trx style straps
does this work as a bench press rack too (I already have the bench, just need the thing to hold the barbell)

What is the brand of that squat rack?
Where do you get the weights from
Bahij Said Fringe Sports.
how tall are you and how tall is the pull up bar? height of the rack?
I am 5’9. I don’t remember the height of the rack itself but I am able todo pull-ups on it.
Just bought 1 used for 75 buks
How can I be safe while bench pressing?
i seen a cheap smith machine for $200 made by soozier
is it strudy enough for hanging ab crunches ??
Yes it is. The only problem is how short it is. I am 5’9 and when hanging from the bar I have to hold my feet up.
Does this come with tools necessary?
No
What are all the tools you needed?
