Just turned 18 ,870 is my first shotgun really had no clues on how to clean it this video is really straightforward and very understandable
Glad we could help out!
Literally same dude
Same here 🙋🏻♂️
I turned 18 last year and then 2 weeks ago i bought my first gun an 870
I don't even own a Remington 870 but I loved watching this.
I’m 12. My dad bought me an 870 for my birthday. This is really informative. Thank you a lot.
Congrats lad. My grandpa gave me his 870 20 gauge when I turned 18. Dad gave me nef pardner .410 when I was 8 or 9
Ive had a 870 for years and years have never dismantled it to that extend and never plan to, works just as well as the day I got it.
I’ll bet most 870 owners never do. Maybe a once a decade would this be helpful, if not necessary.
Thanks for the excellent video> i needed a reminder after 30 years. The magazine tube should be cleaned and lubed, especially if you have hunted in water. The spring fits inside a cup like piece that may be called a magazine follower. If it won't fall out due to gravity it is dirty.
also an air compressor if you have one works good at the end to before u oil
This is one of the best I've watched. Straight forward and to the point.
Glad it was helpful David. We wanted to get the information out without all the fluff!
I really appreciate that man helped me clean my first 870 shotgun
Glad we could help out Samuel!
Wow, thank you. I just got one of these and I feel a lot more confident about cleaning it now. 👍
Glad we could help out!
My buddy from Pennsylvania and you sound identical!!! Its crazy!! Same accent. Awesome video!! Thank you.
Just got my express today, very helpful!
Don’t forget to remove the choke tube and clean the treads and then apply some choke tube grease on them and reinstall the tube. That way it won’t rust in the barrel and you’ll never be able to remove it.
I think the barrel cleaning is not enough and you have to clean the magazine tube outside and lube as well.
Where did you get the gun cleaning mat? It's nice.
Wondering the same, ever figure it you?
It's in the description
I like your set up. Want to buy one.
Great video, thank you for putting links for the things you used in this video!
No problem!
My rifle says Remington 870 on it. Some Remingtons say 870 express. There are express, express magnum, policy and wingmaster on the Remington website. But there is no Remington 870 on it. What is my rifle? Is it a separate model? I could not understand. I am writing from Turkey. I would appreciate it if you could inform me. Thank you in advance.
I have a brand new Remington 870 field master I have only shot 7 target loads through it and I went to clean it and the patches keep on coming out a brown color and I let the break free clp set for about 25 minutes and I repeated this for 3 times and they are still coming out brown I used the bronze brush in between the patches and it doesent help but I looked inside the barrel with a bore light and it looks completely clean
Great tutorial! Really appreciate the details
You're very welcome John!
By far the best video on cleaning
Man, that’s a serious gun cleaning kit you have there. Great video too👍🏼👍🏼

Have an old 870 my dad bought after he got home from WW2 Planning to hand it down to my son but after cleaning barrel the pin in the end cap that I unscrewed to remove barrel now falls out used to just slide back and forth .. Any Ideas?? THX
You made it easy, thanks very helpful
Excellent explanation! I loved that tool tray. Great idea!
Glad you liked it!
Well done. Thanks.
Our pleasure!
Thank you 👍
Is this the 870 express?
What should you use to maintain the wood?
Just, perfect!
Thank you!
Great video!
Thanks!
Good video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Where did you pick up the mat and parts tray? Great video!
You can find them on sageandbraker.com
Great video, thanks!
You're welcome!
I can not get my trigger assimbaly out of the gun can someone help me
Always great videos, thank you
I have this exact same gun. I've cleaned and disassembled yet when i try and perform the "pumping" action of the gun it's still catching on not smooth. It's almost as its being stopped. I checked and theres no presence of rust. Any ideas?
Could be some small burs from the factory. Sometimes parts of the gun aren’t completely sanded/filed down to run 100% smooth. Had this happen with my mosberg 500’s magazine tube. And good gun smith should be able to fix that
You're dislodging the bolt off the carrier/tray.
How often do you do this?
Bruh pushing in the tabs still won’t release it
So there's no need to take apart the bolt?
If you don’t shoot an insane amount probably not
The beauty of manual loaded firearms is the low maintenance on them. They're like a pair of pliers. Oil them when the action gets stubborn.
Im a big fan of knowing not only what to do…but WHY to do it. This video left me in the dark and i hardly learned anything 👎
Never mind, I found it.
