This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for when I use UA-cam videos: Minimal preamble, simple specific steps with advice on step order and warnings about potential "gotcha" spots. Very nicely done, and exactly what I needed. 19:38 well spent.

Almost 10 years after you made this, and here I am trying to remember how to take apart an 870. (I haven't owned one in almost that long.) I came across this. You, sir are an EXCELLENT presenter. No unnecessary "ummmm", "ahhhhh", "yeah", "you know", "I think". You speak clearly, get to the point, and waste zero time without endless repetition and unsolicited opinions. This was well shot and well edited, too. I'm subscribing even though I see you haven't made a video in 4 years. I can only hope life is treating you well.

In all my 75 years of disassembling, cleaning and repairing Remington shotguns, THIS is absolutely the most complete, easy to understand and very clear instructions. He gives us ALL the hints that make it easier and more professional looking. Go no further. This man gets it right the first time.

+1 for an excellent presentation. I'm a new 870 Tac owner and just found this vid. Very clear and methodical, good camera work and narration. I'm no longer feeling so twitchy about the first cleaning job.

  • @67DUTCHMAN

I already commented that this is the most easily understood video: clear, easy and complete. SO.....just to test that, I got my 8, 9 and 11 year old granddaughters to the cleaning table (only one of them had ever handled a gun of any kind) played the video for them, reviewed the names of the parts, then watched them disassemble two Remington 870s together. They replayed the video as they went along, followed ALL the special hints, and especially followed the order of disassembly. It took them only 40 minutes, and they made no mistakes. I can't tell you how proud they were of themselves, and how proud I am of them. There is only ONE problem. They want to do it over and over again now. Next, the learn the cleaning process. I can actually trust them to do it without my supervision, and from now on, all of the Remingtons are now THEIR responsibility. Of course, you lock up all the shells. We can't wait until our grandsons get to see how the girls can do this. I predict a hell of a lot of envy.

Great job. I have an 870 i bought with paper route money from the old 5 and dime, Wolworths back in 1974 when i was 16. I used it quite a bit until about 1979 and never did a take down for a good cleaning. Your video gave me the confidence to give it a try. Im happy to tell you in less than hour and a half i successfully gave my Remington the attention it deserved. It really was kinda easy but i never would have attempted without your help. Great job. This is the single best instructional video I have ever seen on firearms, and I say that as a person who has worked in learning and development for decades. You speak clearly, provide clear, relevant visuals, and don’t gloss over details. This video is the standard by which all others of its type should be judged. I have never been so excited to subscribe to a channel. If the rest of your content is like this, it’s like I found a gold mine. Thank you for what you do.

I own a 1950 manufacture date 870. When it came into my possession I was told that it had never been cleaned in its lifetime. I shoot shotguns but do not consider myself a "shot gun guy". I am so grateful for this video you have posted. It allowed me to disassemble the gun, clean and restore it to my own expected cleaning standards. Who knew it would be so easy with proper instructions? Thank you for sharing your experience and insights for care of the 870 Wingmaster.

Excellent video, sir!!! Very professionally spoken and articulated perfectly. I enjoyed it and found if very informative. I have 3 different Mossberg 590A1's and I can totally Field Strip, Clean, Oil and Grease them in my sleep, but I recently purchased a Remington 870P Police Magnum #24885 and it arrived last Friday and I want to do a complete Field Strip & Clean and as soon as I'm finished typing this comment, I'm getting into it with your video running in the background as reference and I've saved it in my FAV FOLDER as well. OUTSTANDING!!!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR SUCH AN EXCELLENT VIDEO.
I have a friend overseas who hardly speaks English. He couldn't remember he needed to depress the second latch bar to reassemble the forearm with the receiver on his 870.
Your close-up shots are so detailed and clear that he was able to reassemble it despite the language barrier. THAT'S HOW GOOD YOUR VIDEO IS!!! Thank you!

Purchased an 870 express 20 gauge! First gun ever, no nothing except point and shoot. I have watched several videos on cleaning before it’s first use and I have to say this is by far the best video I’ve seen,!!, very detailed, helped me out tremendously! Very glad I watched this. Gonna give her a cleaning tonight and will prob watch again. Thank you for this simple yet effective tutorial! Also thank you for no intro of someone blowing everything up🤣🤣🤣 those are so lame.

Thank you young man for this video! The owners manual is CRAP when it comes to disassembly/reassembly and your video shows everything I needed to see.

Glad to see you positioned the action bar properly unlike how my ex gunsmith did allowing the gun to be fired when the safety is engaged. Thanks for the help on that one.

I can't thank you enough! I very much appreciate you time and effort. I'm not the most mechanical guy around and you made working on my 870 issues a breeze!

Out standing video ,thank you so much for your contribution to the 870 shotgun enthusiast community I'd also like to add that you have educated me personally so much ...thank you. But finally there's a much heated discussion in my household about the mayo and mustard on your work bench ,quite funny. Shoot safe.
