Honda Accords from this generation are super nice drivers. My mother bought a V6 Accord new in 2002 and still has it (60k miles). That V6 engine is a real honey, and very reliable. The interior fittings are from a time when Honda knew how to do interiors right and have proven very durable. The only downsides are the well-known auto transmission problems and the failing clearcoats. Be sure, too, to check the front subframe where the air con drains for signs of rust, as this is another known issue with Accords of this era.
The last two cars I’ve owned were used Accords with over 95 thousand miles on them. One a 4 and presently own a 6 cylinder. Great cars. So glad you bought that Accord Randy.

Great deal on it my dad has an 02 I believe and when he stopped driving it, it had 320000 miles on it and it still ran great. Those for sure are great old cars. Nice job Randy keep up the awesome work.

To me, this is the last body style of Accord that had it's own identity! Nowadays, cars all look so similar. This model and the 90-93 are my favorites!
I financed a 2000 V6 Accord for a couple in 2003. They sold it in 2017 with just under 300K miles and got almost $5K for it. The fellow of the couple that owned it is one of the most meticulous car owners I know of. It was really over maintained and looked showroom new at 14 years old.
Fix motor mount and sell it. Take that $500 paint job from you selling price. Small families love these Honda's at a cheap price 👍

Randy, if you are getting it repainted, get those headlights restored. That mixed with the new paintjob is going to make the car look brand new. For a 20 year old car, its going to look great.
These accords are very good cars, old lady has a 99 coupe ex with a 2.4, around 300,000 miles & still runs like a champ. Yes you can scratch glass with razor blades, especially the hardened utility knife blades. The single edge blades are safe to use and are the best way to super clean your windows before applying rain-x. Makes the rain-x last amazingly long.

Very good video. I love Honda and Honda Accords. I am getting ready to purchase a 2000 Honda Accord LX with 68,000 miles and the tech says the car is in great shape. I will find that out in one week. Thanks for the video and I will try to keep you posted.

Nighthawk black pearl is the name of that paint. One of the best colors honda has put down imo
A good solid car, friend of mine has 2001 Civic with almost 350,000 miles and still strong, just starting to get some rust. Yours will be a quick sell.
Nice repair.....you took the trouble to clean the outside of the car but not the engine bay....honestly it’s a real mess in there!
They called it Nighthawk Black. It’s twin was given to me by a customer last year. One of the lower ball joints had broken causing damage to the fender, axle and r/f strut. I fixed it myself for $200. 275,000 miles and still ran smooth as silk. Sold it to a family friend for their daughter’s first car. Still going strong.
You can get the tiny dings out with a heat gun and ice, or a glue on dent puller. You could probably save some money if you sanded it for the paint shop.
Randy you can sand those door dings down to the primer or metal then mix up some bondo and lay it on there and use a sanding block to block it out EASY PEASY then take it to MACCO You dont have to sand down to the metal to get the bondo to stick primer is better. You can prime it after you sand it. then add bondo. It is really simple no need to paint over door dings.
The #4 coil must be a common issue. I just did a neighbors '01 Accord. I had no spark on #4 so I moved the #4 coil to the cylinders harness next to it and it did not fire there either. $60 with tax at Auto Zone and done deal. I agree with you to only replace the one that is defective. Thanks for the video.
No need for the tripod, handheld works for me. Your audio is excellent makes up for any shaking of the camera.
You got a bargain. I think that motor mount is to brace the transmission to the frame as well. Great car I have a 1998!

why don't the paint shot just do a new clear coat. The dark blue looks ok. It could be even cheaper...
The paint layer itself is going to be damaged, and they're going to have to try to blend it, more than likely.

This generation of Accord and its cousin the Acura TL are notorious for transmission failure. Such a shame, as the J30 and J32 Honda V6 engines are so bullet proof provided they're not neglected.

Those Accords will run for ever! I had one with 389,679 miles and never left me stranded.

Randy needs a magnetic parts tray from Harbor Freight. He also needs a service cart. Oh and we are used to Randy overspending and expect it now.
Next time you're at Harbor Frieght get a couple of magnetic bowls to put your screws, bolts and nuts in. They;re cheap and they have saved my butt many times, especially with small screws. No more lost screws.
Ahhhh nothing more relaxing than seeing a $1500 scanner sitting on the engine bay right next to the battery terminals....Hey randy, will you try some transmission fluid on that faded paint? I've seen people on youtube do it and it looks pretty good!

Pretty nice car and value of the money, I loved the car. What in my opinion is that the clear coat faded away, lovely rims and a honest car. I would love to own and care it.
Go down to Harbor Freight and get a door ding repair kit and while your there get a couple of those magnetic trays to put your nuts and bolts in while working under the hood, nice little car looks like a winner, should get at least 3k .
next time spray some lithium grease on the tube of the coil to stop water getting in,
that's the other killer of coils.
another tip to remove paint marker pen is to use paint thinners or prepsol on a rag/s,
saves scraping as it just dissolves the gunk and it cleans as well

You didn't finish cleaning the Honda Randy, the engine bay is still filthy. It is surprising how much better a car looks after a good wash though.
i just bought a 1998 honda accord take off the exhaust manifold and it can get clogged with carbon and it makes the car run better !

Randy, how do you identify that there's a misfire without opening the hood? is it a noise? a different vibration?? Just asking cause i need to know and don't wanna pay between $400 to $800 to do a job that you made seem so simple and only using one hand. Love ur channel!!

for the writing on the windshield, have you tried brake cleaner or lacquer thinner? chemicals should work a lot better

If you're selling the Honda in future I will probably pay around 2500 to 3,000 cash I like to pay for people's time and hard work they put into something I rarely pay for anything as it is without anywork put to it . I love Honda car's . I Enjoyed the contact so much every day .

I'm pretty sure the color is called Nighthawk Black Pearl. On my touch-up bottle I have color code B-92P along with 08703-B92PPAH. It's a black metallic with blue flakes in it.
you see how the clear coat is coming off there is a recall where you can take your car to a honda dealer but first look it up and if there is one you get the car repainted and clear coated and it doesnt mean you have to be the original owner whoever owns the car get it done....just to let you know

Oh and by the way. You can take out all that burned clear coat and spray just new clear coat again. The paint is still good! Save some cash man
Chances are the coil had a bad connection. I've repaired "bad" coils by cleaning the contacts under the little boot. It would be equivalent to changing a spark plug wire but nobody does that anymore.
This isn't the car to cut costs....this car is much more worth the investment
If you are going to paint the car you have to repair those dings it's only a few bucks if you don't they will be even more noticeable with a fresh paint job

Pilkington glass from the U.K. made in St Helen ‘s on Merseyside or at least they were in the past which is why Landrover uses the same glass as they are made in the U.K.

These Hondas are a love/hate relationship for me. I had an 03 accord V6 with leather, LOVED the car, but after 2 transmissions I had to call it quits. Anyone know if it's just the automatics that have the transmission issue, or does it also plague the MT transmissions? I would love to get one again, i miss mine. :(
Angler.digital I bought mine fully loaded same year 120,000 tranny went out of nowhere drove it home by turning it off and on like a 100 times as soon as the car started warming up it’ll not go into gear had to keep turning it off and on after 2 months of owning it
@@freehhhh2086 Sad. Luckily I had mine 3 years before the first trans went out at 130k. I would seriously like to know if the MT versions are free from these defects.

If you use Cataclean, you will clean that out without having to do anything else. Expensive, but I have yet to have a customer say it didnt work.
