Very impressive, I've owned 4 of this generation Honda accord. Two needed this on the paint. Same clearcoat issue. Amazing results for the price, and yes I could actually see the flake in the paint. Was very impressed by the maaco job you received.
You have really saved this great car. These truly are great simple cars before vehicles were forced to have horrible infotainment which ruins their appeal to future buyers. This is the last generation of cars that weren't tainted with horrible mid 2000s era infotainment systems.
I'd love to own this when you are ready to sell it.

The hose coming off the motor mount is actually a vacuum line. The hydraulic filled motor mounts can change stiffness via a vacuum actuated valve controlled by the ECM. This really helps reduce vibration during idle.

The hose that goes into the Front/Rear motor mounts on V6 Honda/Acura vehicles is basically a vacuum line.
When the engine is idling, it causes the motor mount to “soften” for a smooth idle. & when the car is either accelerating or at speed it causes the mount to “harden.” It is basically the best of both worlds of engine mounts.

It’s a hydraulic mount but it works with engine vacuum. When you step on the gas, the vacuum of the engine stiffens the mount so the engine doesn’t jerk when it shifts gears. Honda has used that technology for ever, my 90 accord had same type of mount but in the rear.

Wow! That car looks awesome! $700 seems worth it. I think that V6 emblem is not suppose to be there, it should be below the tail light.
the motor mount hydraulic hose is connected to the back side mount. The motor mount is hydraulically controlled by the ECU. You need to install the hose before you lose fluid in the mount or you'll end up replacing it again soon as it is pre-filled with fluid.

  • @ken12269
    @ken12269 3 роки тому

BTW I googled the hose going to the motor mount. “The automatic transmission mounts are vacuum-actuated hydraulic mounts. The motor mounts are filled with a fluid. There is a valve that controls this fluid actuated by engine vacuum. It opens and closes to adjust the stiffness of the mount when idling for a smoother idle”. I learn something every day.

My 2001 Accord V6 was my first brand new car. Here in August 2021 it is still with me, 20 years later, sitting in my side yard with 245k on it. It was my daily driver until July 2014. It never let me down, and has only lately suffered from neglect - but I can’t bring myself to part with it. These videos aren’t helping, makes me want to restore the thing to daily driver status. I’ve since replaced even the car I replaced it with, but I cannot bring myself to part with the Accord. The darn thing is built like a Swiss watch and it won’t stop running. The V6 doesn’t leak a drop of oil. The only thing that has really failed was the paint.

2001 Accord, yeah the 300 dollar with the 300 dollar sanding job sounds about right. Care looks good. I had an old pickup. It was like an 85 Ford F150 with the straight 6 in it and 4 speed manual tranny. I went through it and cut out a bunch of rust and welded in new metal and did a cheap rattle can primer and wet sand job. Maaco had a 150 dollar urethane special and I took the truck there and man it looked good. Too bad I got T boned in that truck because I loved that truck. That thing would have lasted forever. I even sandblasted underneath it and primed under and then undercoated it. Then I installed Air bags to boost the suspension so I could put a slide in the back camper in it. My buddies where like where did you get that thing painted because it looked so good.

FYI - there is an easier way to swap this ATF. Instead of several spill and fills, Disconnect the trans cooler line and point it at a bucket. Start the car and drain 1 qt. Turn the car off and add 1 qt. Turn it back on and let 1 qt drain. Turn it off and top off 1 qt. Etc. it will be much faster and you will get all of the old fluid out. I’ve done this before and it works very well. I don’t believe running it down only a single qt. Before topping off is an issue. Its 1 qt low for literally 10 secs.

@@glenbenton4855 Its called a highball and then the buyer will negotiate down. so you can get 3k instead of 2.5k. I'm well aware he won't get 4k for any 01 accord.

The hose is a vacuum port. The Reason your old motor mount was shorter than the new one is because the old one was deflated. The motor mount should be full oil. The vacuum port controls the height of the motor mounts to could take away vibration.

For future references, always paint your car last. Take the risk out of damaging or staining the new paint.

hey randy----the paint is not hardened yet....dont scratch the dust with your fingers over it!!!!takes 2 weeks till the coat is hard and resists your fingers scratching dirt over it

The motor mount is fluid filled the hose is a vacuum line that will suck the oil into the engine if it leaks the oil from the motor mount. At least that's how it was on a 2007 I worked on.

That hose on the motor mount is a vacuum line. It's designed to stiffen up the mount under heavy acceleration.

Curtis Fleabag 98 is when they had trans issues that problem got resolved in 2004 and the 3.0 was bulletproof as well as the 08-2017 3.5 v6

I have a 2007 and a 2015 Accord coupes, 2.4 and a 3.5 liter engines, both are Reliable cars compared to the new ones in my opinion. I don't like that Honda discontinued the Coupe and V6 also the 2.4 liter which had a time Chain instead of a belt.

Randy, consider to have a dealers license and sell those cars to the public in your own place. That Honda with a good detailing including the engine bay will add another $500 in profit. Impeccable rims, paint job (done), detailing and always reset the trip counter to '00000' will have the client satisfied.

I'm a tight ass for spending money on paint but that was well worth doing as it looks so much nicer than before,
like for the money on the video it looks like a proper nice finish ,I guess modern paints help

Some Maaco's suck, some don't. I have great luck 3 times, someone I know painted a early Nova, came out great, but spent $1800. BUT!! I've seen some that were so uneven, so runny and spotty it actually looked worse then before. The Honda looks great!

Wow, I wish there was somewhere in the UK that offered a £500 paint job. I have an '82 Volvo 244 that's in great shape and has only done 74k miles but is completely let down by the chalky, faded paint. If someone could shoot it for £500 I'd be there in a shot!
