Hey Jax. I just want to say thank you. 6 months ago I was watching your videos and I thought I never would get past losing a couple of pounds if I was lucky but your videos truly do motivate me to lose more weight I have lost roughly 26 lb so far and I don't plan on stopping for a very long time
JaxBlade hey big fan I was just gonna suggest a couple of mangas to you because I also was inspired by anime and manga to work out. I think you would like: the breaker, Sun-ken rock, kenji (its old), tough, Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru, and one of my favorites holyland.
This anime has a huge meaning for me, I was boxing for 2 weeks, I was about to give up and my trainer called me to his office and gave me an SD card with the first and second season of this anime, he told me: your last task, take a week and watch this anime. I was like: Ok, should be entertaining. That was 3 years ago, now my name sounds in plenty of gyms in the country, although my country isn’t very competitive in boxing terms, I’ll make it to a professional debut, im saving my words with this comment, will be back in 5 years to check If I failed or succeeded.
DUDE! Today I'm enrolling into a boxing gym, I discovered my love for boxing thanks to Hajime no Ippo this year and have been training my body for almost a year now, and I've been running like hell 5 times per week to develop my stamina because they always mention the importance of that in this anime! the fact that you posted this the day I'm enrolling and finally boxing seriously is so freaking cool! (sorry for the super long comment I'm just super pumped)
I'm all for you starting boxing man but a love doesn't come from a show, trust me watching and thinking that would be amazing is a whole lot different than the pain and all the sweat and effort you have to put into actual boxing, I know this because I started because of hajime no ippo and the only reason I haven't quit is because I'm too stubborn too and I constantly get told i have potential but see running absolutely kills me because I have some scarred lung tissue which means I take in less oxygen and it really hurts after a while to carry on. In conclusion man I'm proud of you got starting boxing is an amazing sport but try not to give ir up if it gets too hard
This got a lot of comments, it went great btw! I have a tiny tiny bit of experience in boxing (a couple of lessons at my previous gym plus months of me using the boxing area to self train since the lessons were expensive) so I kind of understand what you mean, yesterday was slightly tough on my muscles, but it didn't make a dent on my stamina because of how much I've been running, I worked on the heavybag for a while but that was pretty much it outside of warm up and calisthenics, going to keep at it though ^^ also, Ippo did make me realize my love for boxing, but it's more like it made me try it out and realized that I loved it, and that way I could see boxing in a different light, since before that I didn't like it at all.
I wish more people would watch Hajime no Ippo, most people avoid it just because they see boxing... Even if you don't like boxing you will LOVE Hajime no Ippo! Actually no, Hajime no Ippo will get you to LIKE boxing! There isn't a single anime out there that has had me on the edge of my seat as much as Hajime no Ippo. GIVE THE ANIME A TRY, ITS WORTH IT!
Thanks to initial d i gave my second shot to anime because i didnt even like pokemon when i was kid idk why but then watched inital d when 14 and became a car guy and in a year many people have recommended some good animes and once one dude said some baseball anime and hajime no ippo and i putted that hajime no ippo to my watch later list but removed that baseball anime because we in finland have different kind of baseball and lemme say finnish baseball is 100 times better than american and requires more skill nd i have played it for 6years but quitted it. Also learned that give anything a shot because it can be good like some musics have bad start but then they fire asf and same goes with anime and i had zero interest in boxing but gave it a shot like baki that im watching now and that shit good. Gonna start training after high school not much left because winter is close and might start training even sooner but wont start boxing until im happy with my body and im 171cm 55kg so underweight and skinny and i should grow to 183cm according to doctor but my dad is 178 so im fucked FUCK

M.Grey Oh, thank you. I appreciate the offer of support. It was just my first week of finals for college, but everything turned out alright. Thank you for offering though.
Haven’t read the manga but anime is awesome. At first it could be kinda annoying how Ippo consistently doubts himself, however as the show goes on you see less and less of it.
No lies Jax, I was doing this training way before the vid dropped. 4 months of just straight working out, keto diet, different body building each day. Watched Hajime No Ippo for the first time during then. I absolutely love this anime and boxing exercises now. Looking to getting into actual boxing for a sport. Amazing vid as always!

I can vouch for the jumping squats in a pool he used before the Volg fight, I was doing that while I was taking Shotokan Karate and it really helped during those deep stances. The first Dempsey roll evolution is an ACL tear waiting to happen, so it's easy to see why Yamaguchi couldn't condone using it. The free flow Dempsey roll was better since it mixed up the timing and direction.
I love the fact that you are doing a lot of research, not only about the details correlation between the anime techniques and real life. But you also researched the author back story. Keep up the good work mate.
Hajime no Ippo got me inspired exercising like a boxer specially with how I run. Im glad to know the training in the anime works and im happy you confirmed it along with the other youtubers.
Even though I usually like the main characters as my favorite, I just love how confident/strong takamura and sendou are. Not to mention how cool hawk's style was
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE BRO! YOU ALREADY KNOW IPPO is MY 2ND FAV so this should be awesome Deebo. Just finished and fantastic work my brother you are getting better and better at videos and this was amazing also the Boruto's Dad thing had me rollin and the fact you had that damn south park anime in the background cracked me up to. Good to have you back man haha
Had to pause and go back when you said "borutos dad" ....had to make sure you said it with almost bursting in laughter at knowing you were gonna meme some peeps
Bro I fuckin love how you got that one South Park anime on in the background xD haha Hitoha is the best. Also PHENOMENAL video bro! You really put in work and it shows.
1:43- 2:05 Me, too, dude. Me too. To be fair, you're like that to me to some degree since you're work outs help me to achieve my goals and you're hot, too, looking like the irl version of Aqualad from s3 of Young Justice. Hoping I get that level 1 or 2 bod by 2019.
I just binged all of this show a couple weeks ago. It's the funniest show I've seen. Also I use your warm up routine every 2 days when I'm working out. So thanks and love the videos man.
I started watching hajime no ippo when I was about 19 while i also had a job setting up equipment on the beach , i tried to draw inspiration from the show and turn everything into workouts , 12 hours a day on the sand and 2 years later my footwork became ridiculous .
Real talk though jax, the referees are the real antagonists of this anime. Once i went to the washroom and when I returned the ref was at 6 when I left at 4....
I use to use this training routine when I was younger because my dad was a big boxing fan and knew a lot. Unfortunately a fall down the stairs that screwed up my foot/leg with a handful of fractures and a near sprain stopped that for a long time all I really did was physical training to fix that leg/foot. And I’m slowly getting back into the rhythm(mainly because I have developed a soda gut) so finding this video that explained a lot that I forgot is really helpful
I found the bit about unilateral and bilateral training very interesting. I've always avoided it because it'd make someone like me asymmetrical, but I guess some people are already uneven just by doing bilateral exercises so unilateral can help even it out.
The Dempsey roll takes its place up with the coolest signature moves an anime character uses, along with gon’s jajanken And jotaros ORA ORA ORA barrage
You should start typing workouts up for each episode you do. Like five per would this training work episode. Each inspired by the characters aesthetic and in reference to the characters actual training.
His dempsey combo against sendo and everything leading up to it has to be one of my favourite moments in anime. Plus the soundtrack that plays at that moment, that's perfect training music
thanks for the tip on unilateral training, I'll look into this. my job has me lifting 12 pound cakes, so I wind up using my right arm a lot more (right for lifting left for preparing the area/boxes). I've just been doing extra reps with my left to try and make up for it but that gets boring after a year or two.
I got into boxing after getting my ass handed to me by my soon to be best friend. After hours of not backing done, my friend was impressed with my natural toughness. So he told me to watch this anime along with studying the fights of boxing champs.
This is the one time I don’t think he’s allowed to say his coveted “if toned down this would work” bc this is legit boxing training and is actually what you really should do in real life.
I gotta say, you got the perfect background for this. You've boxed, you do advanced calisthenics, you're professional trainer...If you were just some weight lifter/gym rat, these videos wouldn't be very informative nor be able to speak from a place of experience. You do very good work here!
My favorite workout video of yours!! Most realistic and interesting one in my opinion!! Hajime no Ippo is one of my favorite amime of all time! And don't let me get started with the first opening!
What's interesting about Ippos training is that it's basic labor. You can easily do that if you're more active everyday, so not just a workout routine but do light stuff to add into it like hiking or moving furniture lol. Edit: I want to go to the real Hajime no Ippo gym. Doing a sport and adding a conditioning routine with a diet makes you ripped!
I really like to see ippo be already strong at the start of the anime as I have a similar situation to him as I lift heavy cargo/boxes as it’s a family business because of this I’ve always been more stronger then the other kids and now after all these years I appreciate it and strive to be better
Really entertaining video. As someone who recently started training boxing (and is also a big ass WEEB :^) ) i found this video trully informative, and you sure know what you're talking about. Amazing stuff Jax. Subscribed!
I'm taking exercise science and watching your videos is a great help. Also I can completely see the love and emotion you have for the science of exercise.
Damn, your videos really make me want to hit the gym and be fit jahahaja im a physical therapist student btw and im kinda chubby since i stopped playing basketball but you videos are really interesting and very motivating.
Im so happy to see you create another video on one of my favrite animes!! and that song you used explaing the dempsay roll!! keep up the awesome work man!
Thank you friend the whole Dempsey role? I MUST work on with my hopes of boxing at an amateur level. I was also taught to respect Bruce Lee's training and I picked up his Tao Of Jeet Kune Do to learn more, but alas there's a lot of PHILOSOPHY in it, and I'm more interested in technique and speed developing secrets because Speed kills in the ring or whenever you're fighting. You're only gonna block/dodge what you see coming so SPEED development is my prime priority in training. and luckily for me my gym has a boxing room complete with BOTH a heavy bag and a SPEED bag, but from what I can see from working with it and slowly but surely developing a rhythm to my jab/punch release? I'm seeing that one HAS to develop a FASTER MIND and VISUAL RECOGNITION to become a faster fighter. The rest seems to be release rhythm. And a lightweight champion boxer I know who lives locally advised me to work BOTH hands with the speedbag, but I'm seeing that my left is slower than my right and I recently the last time I was at the gym, I was working the speedbag with my left only to improve my speedbag execution with BOTH hands, and it's worked for improving my bag work. So also, being a RIGHT HANDED person? My personal fighting experiences or my LAST fight in 2011, inspired me to completely OBLITERATE ANY weaknesses in my attack so? I'm trying to be a Southpaw boxer. Real talk. I wanna use my LEFT hand as my POWER hand because then I'll basically eliminate weaknesses in my attack, of course provided my leg agility and conditioning, which I can do just jogging to and FROM the gym in a town 4 miles away, so that's a total 8 mile trek to and from so I'll eventually jog 2 miles on their treadmills, but I HATE treadmills I fell BACKWARDS on my feet off of one and it's made me appreciate actually jogging locally at Spring Lake park where the distance around the POND is a full mile and the distance TO the park from my house is 3/4's of a mile so there and back is 1 & 1/2 miles so recently I made it a point to jog about 3 laps around the pond to total roughly a 5 mile jog. But my hopes is at LEAST doing 10 miles plus depending upon what my boxer influences did in their daily regimen. Ali, Frazier, Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Tyson, Holyfield, and Lewis. The CURRENT heavyweight champ doesn't impress me. Rather he INSPIRES me to become amongst one of the OLDEST heavyweights who did it at a professional level, cause if RUIZ's OUTTA SHAPE Churro Churro eating self can win the Heavyweight Champion BELT? Then why can't a schoolboy go pro and compete at a high level? So yeah, peace. Oh yeah since dig, the average Heavyweight according to Google stands about 6'5" and I'm only 6'1" I have only TWO influences, no about 5 in total, my FAVORITE boxer of all time could actually be my distant cousin because my Great Grandmother on my mother's side was an AnnaBelle Jones before she married Noel Terrell, so I could be a distant cousin to ROY JONES Jr. He was AWESOME! Speed. Power. He was COMPLETE when he did his thing. I only wish he could have done more in the actual Heavyweight Division. Next you would have to be a FOOL to wanna box at a pro level and not acknowledge Muhammad Ali as one of the BEST to EVER do it at a HEAVYWEIGHT level. Ahhhh, but to BE the BEST? You have to BEAT the BEST, and while Foreman WAS a SUPERSTRONG BEAST the most IMPRESSIVE WIN Ali had to ME is winning the series against Philly Phenom Smoking Joe Frazier. He used that Philly Shell defense which though I'm from Jersey? My Grandpa is a Philadelphia product so I wanna learn it in tribute to ALL Philadelphia prodigies, hell, even outta respect for the Rocky film series. Moving on. Footwork wins fights, and Sugar Ray Leonard was one of the ILLEST dancers in the ring. Next in my desire to fight Southpaw even though I'm a righty? Marvin Hagler was one of the greats. I gotta study Manny Pacquiao cause Google says HE was a Southpaw, and he's a master. Lastly, my DEFENSIVE INFLUENCE? Is the child prodigy who RETIRED UNDEFEATED a feat that a few boxers achieved, ahhh, but there were NO draws on his record, so in the end? He really WAS T.B.E. or the Best EVER. And why shouldn't he be? He was RAISED since 3 years OLD in the ring by his father who musta been nice his darn self, I speak of none other than Floyd "Money" Mayweather. Those, were actually SEVEN INFLUENCES to avidly STUDY. I got my homework cut out for me cause I'm a schoolboy at heart. A bookworm even and I said above the current book is Tao of Jeet Kune Do by brother Bruce Lee. Martial arts instructor extraordinaire and BOXING is a martial art. Try my tiger boxing!?
I don't get why people always say "I imagine myself as the character to escape reality!" I just like good gameplay or good shows. lol. I'm not imagining myself as anyone, just enjoying the journey bud.
Very thorough and easy to enjoy! As a fan of the series, I'm proud of how well put-together this has been. Your voice is great, but if there's anything negative, it would be some small inconsistencies here in there with your tone. This is the second video of yours I've seen, so I look forward to hearing how your new equipment affects your videos.
It hurt when this man said Boruto's Dad. We spent all this time waiting and hearing NARUTO wine about becoming Hokage just to not here his name said as such Edit: Ik he was using it sarcasticly so no r/wooosh comments
There is only one training method in the series that must be avoided in real life (have only seen the anime so there may be more I do not know); one should never use a bear as a sparing partner, like the resident badass Takamura (think I remember the Big guys name right) did.
Hey jax,i dont know if you read the manga ''Karate shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru''but you really should check it out. The principle is ridiculously similiar to hajime no ippo but instead of boxing there is karate, muay thai and mma in general.Love the video btw☺☺☺
It's super boring and thre MC loses every fucking tournament he ever enters. The real strong points of the series is the lovable characters and the great art quality and style, along with the fights. The MC tho, is garbage.
+JaxBlade Oh and I just wanted to let you know I recently started boxing because of this video and I found out that my trainer is UBF european champion so thanks for that😊😊😊
its a great martial art manga, mainly revolves around kickboxing. Just like Ippo, realistic techniques, realistic training. The only that is unlike Ippo, is the main character. XD
Yeah but then you have all those rules about not doing it with them and stuff. If I'm thinking about the right anime. Although I'll give it to you, it's a tough choice!

Hajime no Ippo started in 1989 and it's still on-going
Nediojon hope you are doing better now :)
True, I watched bunch of animes but this was one of the one you'll gonna watch over and over again
I really gotta get into the manga again.
you really gotta
You totally should Lol. Speaking of the manga, the latest developments have been shocking (in a good way in my opinion)
Edwin Francois a good way? You’re a morbid man😭
Good to see you back i started having withdrawal symptoms from lack of your videos
I’ve read the 1265 chapter manga, now it’s time to check out the anime
Hajime no Ippo made me fall in love with boxing, before watching Ippo i liked boxing, but after Ippo, I can say "I love boxing"
I wish a BJJ anime, with the same level of Hajime no Ippo's awesomeness
First anime and only anime I've watched. I've never felt so inspired and motivated push myself in the gym so much.
Boruto's dad? Hmm never heard of him.
Roronoa Zoro smh naruto
Jarrod Neal235653776 whaaaat? Nah dude, boruto's dad is jiraiya
@@pressurz7667 Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? I think you just got trolled
Isn't he the guy who found the one piece?
piccolo isnt it?
Dude….. you are like one of the coolest UA-camrs I’ve ever seen and I want to thank you for just being you
A fan of mitsudomoe i see, you sir have good taste
Hajime no ippo is one of my favorite series not just because of its epic fights but how motivational it is to never give up
I found the bit about unilateral and bilateral training very interesting. I've always avoided it because it'd make someone like me asymmetrical, but I guess some people are already uneven just by doing bilateral exercises so unilateral can help even it out.
The Dempsey roll takes its place up with the coolest signature moves an anime character uses, along with gon’s jajanken
And jotaros ORA ORA ORA barrage
You should start typing workouts up for each episode you do. Like five per would this training work episode. Each inspired by the characters aesthetic and in reference to the characters actual training.
His dempsey combo against sendo and everything leading up to it has to be one of my favourite moments in anime. Plus the soundtrack that plays at that moment, that's perfect training music
He should do a baki workout
Usama Khan tough like the toonz
nah screw that manga, the mangaka totally hates boxing, he's all about giant muscles, wierd poses and blood + blood+ blood
I just stumbled on your video because I just started watching Hajime No Ippo last week and I love it. This was a good video man, keep it up!
thanks for the tip on unilateral training, I'll look into this. my job has me lifting 12 pound cakes, so I wind up using my right arm a lot more (right for lifting left for preparing the area/boxes). I've just been doing extra reps with my left to try and make up for it but that gets boring after a year or two.
Maromania yo I found a unilateral work out you can do every day before bed😏
It's great cause I literally just finished the anime, and I'm glad that you made a video on it man
I got into boxing after getting my ass handed to me by my soon to be best friend. After hours of not backing done, my friend was impressed with my natural toughness. So he told me to watch this anime along with studying the fights of boxing champs.
Just started to add boxing into my daily routine today. I’ve never had a better workout in my life.
“Overuse can cause tendinitis” HEAR THAT COACH MY KNEES SURE DID
My favorite workout video of yours!!
YES!!! BACK WITH MY FAV ANIME/MANGA CHARACTER!!!!
I hope they continue the anime for Hajime no Ippo it’s one of my favorites hands down
Really entertaining video.
I love this anime, thanks for doing it!
no prob
Damn, your videos really make me want to hit the gym and be fit jahahaja im a physical therapist student btw and im kinda chubby since i stopped playing basketball but you videos are really interesting and very motivating.
Man I see your comment like in every anime fights or vid
6 years later but wham. Gave me the basic rundown I needed
"Boruto's Dad" Ever since I heard kids on the subway wondering if there was an anime about Boruto's dad, I hate this meme so much...
Don't know why I didn't give this series a chance till recently, it is dope! 👊👊👊!
"hip, knee, and back pain is something you want to avoid at all cost" literally have all of them....
Im so happy to see you create another video on one of my favrite animes!! and that song you used explaing the dempsay roll!! keep up the awesome work man!
Boruto's Dad! i fkn love you for having a good meme game lmfao.
Yeah this series is just brill. Keep doing what you're doin!
But the real thought question is. What does it mean to be strong?
This is a wonderful analysis of the mechanisms that go into the series' athleticism.
It hurt when this man said Boruto's Dad. We spent all this time waiting and hearing NARUTO wine about becoming Hokage just to not here his name said as such
Edit: Ik he was using it sarcasticly so no r/wooosh comments
My favorite training routines from the series
Pool squats
Tire pulls
Ducking and dashing under the bars
Can you do Uq Holder flash step training?
I remember watching hajime no iPoo 2 years ago and signing up for track because how much it inspired me
There is only one training method in the series that must be avoided in real life (have only seen the anime so there may be more I do not know); one should never use a bear as a sparing partner, like the resident badass Takamura (think I remember the Big guys name right) did.
😂😂😂
but Khabib have a bear as sparring partner
@some random guy same difference by anime rules
But Khabib does it.
Absolutely great i love boxing and i love hajime no ippo so glad you finally made this keep up the good work
Great Video as always Jax! I can't wait tobsee your video about Takamura. Is there any chance we could get a video about Sendo or Vorg?
Just wanted to say thank you, I love this series and its not talked about enough
LMFAO Boruto’s dad !!! 😭😭😂😂
About strongman training
Look up why Red Grange's nickname was "The Iceman."
Hey jax,i dont know if you read the manga ''Karate shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru''but you really should check it out.
The principle is ridiculously similiar to hajime no ippo but instead of boxing there is karate, muay thai and mma in general.Love the video btw☺☺☺
sounds cool, ill look into it
Great manga! All Rounder Meguru is good also!
XD
Yes!!!! one of the best Training Work in Real Life videos for one of the best animes ever made! Respect
R.I.P ippo
really sad man im still cryin
Beniam Tedla ikr
Beniam Tedla what happen to him. Did he died. I haven't got ard to reading the manga yet
Was it detached retina?
Rivia Wolf Edits punch drunk
when i first watched this video i started the anime and now it’s my favourite sports anime thank you jax
Hell yeah! Glad you're back, Thank you.
👌.
Brandon Phan is that kuroo I see
the squats in the swimming pool was also a funny training idea for Ippo to develop his Gazelle punch!
Jax, you should do a natsu tough like the toonz or would that work out
sure thing
Your series made me watch Ippo, now it is one of my favourite series, seeing this in the morning on my feed I was like got my lunch planned. haha
IPPO ALL DAY ANY DAY! I love this video! (Anyone caught up to the manga?)
Neku Swaguraba Sigh... Oh yeah. What do you think. Is that certain person's career over?
America Eagle Sadly.. I think it is exactly what it looks like. The "next person" fighting is also foreshadowed a grim fate..
It was foreshadowed in the beginning of the series, but I hoped it would end differently. It's a realistic approach to the sport though
Bruh these recent chapters have been so depressing....
This reminds me of a breakdown on the same subject by The Modern Martial Artist.
Ryouzanpaku is my wet dream!
Same....that or monster musume land
Yeah but then you have all those rules about not doing it with them and stuff. If I'm thinking about the right anime. Although I'll give it to you, it's a tough choice!
I finished the series recently. Couldn't have picked a better time to upload this, Jax.
