I have so much respect for how Marques has turned his UA-cam channel into more of a media production company without loosing the personal youtubeer-feel. And I find myself drooling over the production quality of this channel. All of the professionel gear. I think a lot of people, like myself, see it as a dream job to work for Marques. MKBHD has become a brand in the tech industry and I find it so refreshing to see how they've made a succesful business out of primarily being a UA-cam channel - something boomers wouldn't understand just a few years ago and still don't. It's easy to predict jobs we might loose to robots but it's difficult to imagine jobs that does not exist yet. Because they do not exist YET. Marques and his team deserve all the praise they get for being so succesful and simultaneously being one of the least drama oriented channels on this platform. They make brilliant content about tech.

    • @BariumCobaltNitrog3n
      @BariumCobaltNitrog3n 2 роки тому +6

It's not that boomers don't understand UA-camrs, we just don't care. The real world has a lot more value and attraction than staring at a screen all day, watching 10 minute tidbits of fluffy entertainment designed to waste your time. I don't see working for someone else who talks about the latest disposable phone as a dream job. Marques does seem like a genuinely nice, productive and creative individual though. Wouldn't you rather BE him than work for him? Start your own channel.

What i like with mr. MKBDH is that everything is polished, colormatched - it's so smooth, so good. That's a job well-done for him and his team.

I remember when he was setting the new studio up, man, 30k a month, wow, he really has done it up well. Having watched him for so long it's incredible how far he has come.

Great studio space! Interesting that they stopped using the small robot after getting the big one. I'd be curious to see if it's decent for something like smartphone camera module autofocus testing. Having extremely consistent movements seems like a good match for a task like that.

The fact that you invest so much into all your environmental resources and team, shows why you are definitely a great leader in the tech review world. I remember the inception of MKBHD and I'm excited to see where you go as a brand.

The robot shots are an example of something I’m learning in class right now - for creating a sustainable competitive advantage you need a resource that’s difficult to replicate + provides value and MKHBD has that!

I remember when I was in middle school and wanted something tech wise, I would use his videos to try and convince my parents that I needed whatever the newest tech was. Now I watch his videos to see what I really want, but I use my own money. Dude is a LEGEND

30k a month? There’s no doubt in my mind that they make an absolute killing profit wise; and I assume having that deducted from taxes is a bonus but I just always wonder why not purchase your own building at that high of rent.

Well like he said he’s going to outgrow it. Wouldn’t be worth the 10s of millions if he’s just going to move out in a few years

    • @MosesMatsepane

The only reason you would purchase a Business building is if you’re planning to operate there for 2 decades or more. Or if it will be easy to rent it out when you’re not using it. Renting is a risk mitigation strategy, because unlike a house which is easy to sell at anytime. Warehouses and office buildings are not easy to sell. And because of the low demand and locations, some of them don’t appreciate in value at all.

@@MosesMatsepane adding to that, owning your own studio is a lot more work than renting one. Things like security, electricity, reception etc are all being provided so you can focus on your core business

When things or world moving quickly its good idea to rent out instead of buying as you can always go for best requirements. Imagine if he bought one house he will end up upgrading that like Arun does from MrWhosTheBoss.

I loved the cardboard cutout watching the parking spaces. I am kicking myself that I hadn't thought of that idea myself when unknown vehicles would park in my private parking space where I used to live. lol. I didn't know how big MKBHD studio was until today. I loved the industrial robots.

Honestly in the grand scheme of film studios, it’s absolutely insane the quality they get from a one million dollar studio. That’s actually pretty cheap as studios like this go. Also motorized precision is an awesome company! Touring the ViaFilms studio is always so fun!

i think it is great that you visit various creators workplaces so we can get a peek in and feel like we are part of the community.
The first time I heard of Marques was then he visited Neistats studio in NY...
30 years ago I worked as a studio manager for a photographer based in Sweden (we shot for Volvo, Mercedes and other brands) and would feel comfortable in Marques studio.
One thing, dont they ever build stuff? No tools, no repairs, no building of reflectors?
