proper football... with proper tackling...on proper pitches. love it
Proper ball too. This big ping pong ball they use now has sped the game up making tackling obsolete. Pitches are just too perfect, yes footy days pitches come Nov where quagmires, but even Non League clubs now have top pitches & nice little stadiums. It had too come but it takes away a lot of the grittiness we once had.
@@seltaeb3302 yes agreed. The present generation should watch these retro matches and see how the players could play well on those kind of pitches kicking heavier ball and riding heavy tackles.

Great to see 90 minutes of Keegan in action, one of my childhood faves despite never playing for the club I support. Totally forgot that Joe Mercer was England manager.
Joe Mercer was a temporary stop gap after Revie decided to sack himself before the FA did. The FA asked him & then appointed Ron Greenwood.
@@seltaeb9691 wrong. Joe Mercer was caretaker after Alf Ramsey. After him Don Revie and then Ron Greenwood from September 1977.

The very last year England and Wales wore the old strip (probably Umbro). The next year both donned Admiral kit.
I don't think Wales did until 76, certainly didn't at Wembley in Home internationals 2-2.
Ah 1974 ....the halcyon years of singing, the brass band and the opportunity to bet at short notice on mud wrestling at the end of the half-time interval....ahhh halcyon days!!!
It is nice to see England and Wales competing again after the 1974 WC qualifiers.
In that group Wales beat Poland 3-0 in Cardiff but England could not beat Poland home and away thus they missed the WC in West Germany.
Wrong, Wales beat Poland 2-0 at home but lost the away game 0-3.
This is amazing that you have got this & if I rmbr you only got long highlights on either MOTD or Big Match (not on both they tossed a coin who got which fixture with Wales & N.Ireland. The Scotland v England was in full & both showed it). So is this a first, a Premier Duckjive?
Those pitches really did affect the game in those days.

Thanks for your great channel, it reminds me of my childhood. Little did I know that I was watching such crap football. Even the heroes of the game in England at the time like Keegan and Hughes look bang average. We were so far behind when implementing the modern game.

We had great players through out the seventies! Irrespective of whether we were cruelly robbed of two World Cup competitions, I willl not judge a great generation of players on those two games against Poland and Italy
Not great players - most of them weren't up to the highest international standards and they failed in more important games than just two.
Watched this game for the second time so i will comment again.Wales badly in need of a striker.Some of the passing dreadful especially first half.One thing i will say is the players of today won't be remembered like the players of my youth.Not one of Mike Channon's better games but still a favourite of mine.🐻🤗👍
