9 years later and still saving people's bacon!! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom 🙏 8pm I was doing some laundry when I had a flood emergency! I detested the thought of disassembling the washer that late so went to UA-cam for some help. And bam! Found this gem. After ruling out any fault with the solenoid, I tested the pressure switch hose by blowing into it. At first no pressure went through but suddenly it did, so I assumed something clogged it. I ran hot water through the hose to flush it out a lil bit. And it fixed the issue, no more overflow!
Bill, thanks so much for this video! I spent many hours over this past Labor Day weekend trying to research and decide on which washing machine to purchase, as mine overfilled and flooded my basement. Reading about the (un)reliability of so many new washers was so frustrating that I decided not to buy anything at all for now. Then I found your video and repaired my washer, myself! Not only have you saved me from a major financial outlay, but you saved the rest of my holiday weekend from stress. Thank you!
Bill I know this video has been out for awhile but I wanted to say THANKS!!! I was watching Robery DIY and he told us what to do about connecting the hose under the top of dryer, but my washer kept filling, then I watched your video and this was the second success tip was to blow into the clear hose for debris. I did this several times and my washer is working great. Thank you for sharing. I really mean it. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you Bill, I came (back) to you to see if I could fix my washer, you helped me that last time, so... You did it again!
I blew through the switch hose and that has cured my problem, hopefully it won't come back, it did flood my garage some. :)
Thank you for taking time out of your life and sharing this information with total strangers, that will not go unnoticed.
Bill, you are a life saver! I have been spending $20 at the laundry mat for 3 weeks because a repair guy wants to charge $125 just to show up. I watched your video, opened the back and my wife screams "The hose that Bill mentioned came OFF!". I blew on the hose just to make sure and heard the air at the bottom of the tub loud and clear, I then put the hose back on and some tape . I turned it on and it worked like a charm! Thank you for sharing the knowledge. ~John
I work in maintenance so I frequently look to you too for tutorials and troubleshooting fixing appliances this is probably the most informative easy walkthrough video I've seen thus far good job
When I watched this video I had already replace the hose and my washer still didnt stop filling with water, once I watched this video I learned if replacing hose did not work, you then blow through the hose from the upper end at the pressure switch down to bottom of washer and if you cant push air through then there is buildup at the bottom, i could not get any air through there, just a small amount so I took my Ryobi hand operated low pressure air compressor and blew a little bit of air down the hose from the top and i had success, I was able to free up enough debris to push air through and that fixed my issue of the water not stopping at the fill up levels, im testing now and all seems to work well! Thank you very much for the detailed video You are awesome! Keep up the good work
It also worked for me.
I'm going to try this as well. Had a small flood today 😢😢
I'm gonna have to open my unit tomorrow. This sounds like it covered everything I need to know. I have a top loading Whirlpool and I've never had a problem with overfilling. I live in an upstairs apartment and soaked my neighbor's patio pretty good. With this video I think I've got a good base to start off from. Thanks!
THANK YOU! I cannot believe clearing the pressure tube worked! Such an easy fix without a boat load of aggravation. Simple well explained video.
Never thought blowing a washer would fix it did ya? lol
Thanks for Watching!
Thank you. Mine was it was plug tube
My pressure hose was completely clogged! I used a coat hanger to gently clean it out then rinsed in the sink. So far so good. Thank you for the informative video! Keep up the good work.
You Rock! After reading several threads and watching other videos you are the first to mention a possible hole in the pressure tube. Mine had a small hole that was not apparent when I blew through it to test the pressure switch. I could still hear the switch clicking. I examined the tube closer and found a thin crack. Thanks!!!
I can't wait to try this Bill!
I just replaced both bearings and the seal and at first start up it was over filling.
I was disappointed and thought I'd spent too much effort on the machine.
But you have given me hope of an easy fix.
A great video mate, keep up the good work!
Thank you Mr. Newberry. It happen to us today and I found your vid and tried blowing into the hose and it worked. Thank God for You Tube and people like you that post to help others.
I cleaned the hose, replaced the hose, and replaced the switch. I've watched so many videos and read so many articles... Your video was the first I've seen to mention buildup in the housing at the bottom of the hose. Cleaned that out and voila! Running like a champ! Thanks so much!
Smittle Family how did you clean that out. Is it removable. I ran a wire hanger thru it. It works but clogs up again after 2 or 3 loads
I never comment on youtube videos but, just like many other people here, I gotta give you a huge thanks. I was ready to go buy a new machine but don't have to anymore since my wife pulled up your video. Thanks Bill!
Washer overflowed. Flooded my garage. Watched a minute-and-a-half of your video. Thanks to you I was able to fix my washer in about 5 seconds after that. You are the MAN! Thank you!
Thank you for the step by step instructions to look for the points of failure. Blowing into the pressure tube did the trick for our Kenmore washer!
THANK YOU!!! You made it so easy. I opened the control panel, on my Whirlpool...(just 2 phillips screws) and there was the hose.... disconnected. I blew threw it and all was good. Plugged it back in and tested it on small, when it started agitating I went to med then to large.... NO WORRIES! Thanks again. I have subscribed to you.... I know I will need you again..... Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Dude, watched your video, checked mine and it was just a plugged pressure tube! Couple of pipe cleaners later, and we're back in the game!! Thanks SO much!!
Bill, My washer recently stopped working, my wife immediately went to Sears to look for a new one. I decided to check out your channel on a google search to see if i may be able to troubleshoot and repair myself. Low and behold we discovered a sock in the water pump. My dad was never handy so i never got to learn much DIY growing up. i just wanted to say Thank You! you saved me an unnecessary large purchase. my Washing machine is now working like new!
Thanks Bill for the information, our washer kept filling up and i didn,t know why.
I quickly shut off the water and we had to start cleaning up all the water that overflowed onto the laundry room, finished basement. Most of the carpet was wet, but glad that no electrical components were. great video!
Thanks for taking the time to make this! As you can imagine I was led here because of a nice little flood in our laundry area. Which in turn flooded a bunch of my electronics in the basement. So besides moving the washer to the basement. This has given me the info I need to repair it on my own! Thanks again!
Thanks so much, Bill! Super clear. Watched this video and fixed by overflowing washer in under five minutes!
Thank you for the valuable information! After discovering my washer was overfilling (a little at a time over months - I hadn't had a mini cycle in a long time). I tested everything you recommended and finally took the air dome (as it's called on the Maytag parts page). It was full of junk which I cleaned out with hot water and a zip tie to loosen it up. After cleaning it and putting it back together I now have all my load sizes back! Thank you!
Our washer was overfilling .Thanks to your fruitful advices ,it isn't anymore !
Bill, Thanks so much for the tips. Ive subbed, liked, and now commenting as a thank you. Tips like this from handymen like you are things that help the regular guy out from spending a ton of money on simple repairs. very much appreciated. thanks again!
Hello Bill, I found your information on the internet at the library today and came home and within 30 minutes had my drain tube cleaned out and fixed. Thank you so much for the information. I told my hubby that I was going to buy a new one but after reading all of the top comments I could find, I thought I would try it and you saved me several hundred dollars!!! Your daughter is sure lucky she has someone like you to learn from. I love fixing things and I love To look things up on UA-cam.Com...Again I thank you so very much!
Cheryl Robison Thanks for the Wonderful Comment! Awesome Job on your Repair!
Bill, you've saved my washer twice now. You're a rockstar. Thanks for sharing stuff like this.
You are Awesome!!! Fixed our washer it was the Pressure switch hose that was clogged. Blew on it and then tested the switch. Everything is back to normal! Thank you for the guide!!!!! God bless you Sir...
Bill,
Thanks SO much for posting this video. Blowing on the tube to clear it out worked like a charm for our GE washer. You saved us a lot of money and headaches. Thanks!
Thanks for this. I was having problems and had no idea what to do. This gave me the little bit of confidence I needed to see what was going on. My sides don't come off at all, from the back, so I got stuck for a bit. Anyway, no idea what I did to fix it, but it's working again. I blew out the tube, and I had garbage in the intake so I cleaned that, too. Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to help others out. I didn't have to spend a dime to fix my machine.
Dude u the man
My washer was overflowing and I look at your video and BOOM
THE TUBE WAS LOOSE FROM THE SWITCH AND NOW IM UP AND RUNNING AGAIN
RESPECT MY DUDE
Thanks for explaining it so plainly. I bet your proud of that little girl.
Thank you!!!!
Watched your video, blew out the hose and it was all fixed.
I've never worked on a washer before and in 15 mins I was back in business.
Sunday afternoon on Father's day and the washer is overflowing. A trip to the barn for parts and I am back in business thanks to your video! Let me repay you by telling you the best way of keeping a washer from "walking" across the floor (I know:balance load, level, friction washer etc). Go to the local farm store and get a horse stall mat. Cut a piece just about 2 inches wider than the feet on the machine, an inch longer in front and extend out past the back of the machine to the wall. Put the piece of mat against the wall and the washer on top of it. The feet of the washer sink into the mat just enough to keep the machine from moving and weight and size of the mat keeps the machine from moving. I have done this for over 7 years with three different machines with perfect results. Don't mean to hijack this thread and this is valuable information. Thanks again and love up your daughter because they group up fast.
Bill - I blew into the hose. It worked. You saved me hundreds maybe thousands of dollars as my wife was bucking for a new HE machine. Thank you thank you a thousand times thank you.
Thank You!!!! I blew into the pressure tube and it finally cleared. Back to working properly.
+Crystal “Coily Crystal” Moncrief Awesome!
Have a 32year old Simpson 175 Washer followed Bill and found a tiny hole in the tube fixed that and our 32 year old machine is as good as new. Thank you Bill and Simpson for a Brilliant mechanical washing Machine
Awesome Job! Most of the time this happens because a load was off balance. Usually the next load you do is the one that overflows. Glad you were able to fix it.
Thanks for Watching!
This video solved my 'overfilling' problem. I took the cabinet off of our washer because of another problem and the pressure switch hose had come off at the switch. I just reconnected it and the machine is now filling to the correct levels. Many thanks to the creator of this video.
Thank you so much for sharing. The only problem I had was the clogged tube. Washer is working like a charm now. God bless!
Thank you for posting this great video. My washer was over filling and Thanks to your help I was able to fix the problem.
thanks to this video I saved myself a service call and a whole lot of money. cheers.
Hi Bill,
I watched your video because my washer kept filling up and eventually overflowed all over the floor - couple of times causing a mess.
Your video for finding the problem was very very helpful and you did a great job. I checked my pressure switch as you explained and found that it was still in working condition. When I checked the tubing ( after opening the front panel) I found that there was gunk in the other end of the tubing ( about 2 inches) - completely plugged with a dark oily residue. I pulled out the tube and cleaned that end of the tubing with a sharpened chop stick so that all the residue could be removed. Wow, when I put back everything and did a small load test, the washer worked perfectly ... thanks very much ...a 10 for you.
Oh my gosh! Bill, YOU ARE A GENIUS! I feel like I owe you something. My husband is a truck driver who is almost never home. I have kids, needed to do my laundry and was totally frustrated, because it kept running over. I tried to keep an eye on it and just spin it around, but with everything else, it would slip my mind and then flood over. My hose was stopped up, just like you said. I figured it would be too simple to work, but NO...YOU WERE RIGHT! Between you and praying to God and Jesus Christ, to my complete amazement, IT WORKS! You are the greatest, BILL! Thank you for your wonderful instruction. I also feel a sense of satisfaction to tell my husband that I repaired my washing machine by watching a UA-cam video! I will never be able to thank you enough! :) :) :) I will share your video with all of my friends on Facebook and I will subscribe to your channel, even though I hope I never have to fix my machine again. :) :) :)
Thank you Bill for your easy to understand and informative video. We pray GOD Bless all with good health happiness and prosperity.
Wow! Your tutorial works! We were going to load the washer onto the pickup tomorrow morning and take it in for repair but got to thinking to fix for ourselves. Saw your video and... it worked! Wahoo! Thank you so much!
this video might be old, but it just made my day. I think there was a block in my pressure pipe. I blew into it a couple of times turned on the system and it works again. Thank you so much for this video
Great video! I was able to fix my washer that had a hole in the rubber air pressure tube. Keep up the great work!
i cleared out the line before watching vid, and now i know why that worked!
really good concise video!
Thank you bill I watched a lot of do it yourself videos and well you hit all spots of trouble instead of one or two problems. Thank you for your informative wisdom .
Tried to locate a new valve and was quoted 70 bucks for the part. They didn't have it in stock and would have to wait for it to be shipped. Took the valve completely apart and cleaned off all the hard water deposits, Cleaned corrosion from the terminals and put it all back together. The screen entering cold water inlet had chunks of hard water and I dont know what. Im not sure what the actual problem may have been, but the washer works perfect now. Just in time for the New Year. Much thanx again
Thank you for the demo. Should have watch this demo first before attempting the repair. I bought the water level monitor and found out that the original one it was not broken. The actual culprit was the small tube that attached to it. There is a pinhole leaks on the tube and the tube itself is getting hardened. Got the tube free of charge from a different repair shop.
Glad I was able to help out! Thanks for Watching!
Glad I was able to help!
Thanks for Watching
Thanks for the great video. My pressure tube was just disconnected. I reconnected it and the machine is working fine now.
Great advice Bill! I detached the vacuum tube at the water level pressure switch and when I blew felt allot of resistance. I then blew a bit harder and noticed the debris pushed through to the other end. About 4 months ago we added a new device to our homes' incoming water line to help cut down and dissolve the hard water buildup in our area. I think it must have caused the scale deposits within our washing machine tub to begin dissolving and break down, which then fell to the bottom of the tub and clogged up the water pressure sensor.
What was strange is how this problem caused a myriad of issues. Besides the water overflowing the tub on some occasions, at times any one or several cycles would fail to work (including no water fill, no agitating, no spinning, or sometimes it would agitate (but the tub had not filled with any water). When these problem occurred, we would try and advance the timer knob one click at a time. Sometimes that would work, and other times it would not. On some occasions we would also just let the machine sit for a period of time then start it up again, and it would work fine for that load or maybe the next couple of loads. Then one or more of the problems would start all over again. Just saying, I would never have imagined all these issues could be caused by a clogged water pressure/sensor tube. Thanks again!
Thank you so much. I checked mine and the hose had come off for some reason or another. I put the hose back on and it now works perfectly. Took me only a few minutes and didn't cost me a penny to fix.
Cleared the tube out and it works like charm. Thank you sir.
Your video is really helpful. I was able to unclog the tube as you mentioned and it fixed the problem. Thanks a lot for your help.
Thank you for your Video !!! it saved my washer and me MONEY!
Thanks mine was clogged and I couldn’t blow through it. I took a air tank and gave it a low pressure blow and it cleared it. You were a lifesaver. Now I’m drying out the garage.
Thank you! You saved me a huge repair mans bill! The tube had a little hole near the top, cut the ending of the tube off and reconnected it and its working fine!
Many thanks. I had a real weird situation. First the open/close switch went. I fixed it, and put the washer on all smiles. Came back to check after ten minutes, and water everywhere. I did all your checks, and now working fine. I'm guessing something must've come lose and clogged the pipe, but, now all is good. In future, I may just wait till it starts agitating before I leave it to it's own devices. Again, many thanks.
Great explanation. I was able to pull apart my washing machine and fix it's overflowing problem. Turns out the pressure tube had puled loose from the tub :)
Appreciate your video! My tube came unattached from the dial. Had it up and running again in 10 minutes 💪
Hey look bro, I have viewed about a dozen washer machine "water overflowing" videos. Your video helped me solve the problem. Nice Job!
Nice - simple - clear directions - very helpful , thanks a bunch
you know your stuff, thanks for sharing your skills.I will subscribe! ! your daughter will be so smart. good dad!
Thanks for the info, I didn't even have to finish the video to know what was wrong. I did the fix and now it' good to go. Thank you for the concise info. I appreciate that because I didn't end up having to sit through nearly an entire 10-15 min video to get to what the problem was.
thank you for your help, your video helped a great deal. no more flooding in my washer/dryer room!!!!
Great tip. Blew the hose out a few times and that did it. Thanks so much!!!!
thank you so much for this video. i followed your vid step by step to troubleshoot my washer to determine that the pressure tube was clogged. i removed the trash and it is back to cleaning clothes. i was at the point of calling a repair man. thanks you alot
Excellent Video. Very well put together (in that you didn't ramble on like so many other "instruction" videos).
Great video. Will be working on my washer this week.
Thank you for this video! You helped us save so much money and find out exactly what the issue was. Thank you!!
Super little helper is so cute.
Thank you!!!!! I fixed it. I really didn't need the extra expense of calling a repair person before Christmas.
As all the other posts have said, great advice indeed!! Removed tube to find it cracked. I was able to cut it at the crack and have enough left to reconnect the tube to the switch. Runs like a top now. Cheers!
C Waters Awesome! Great Job on your Repair!
The tube came off the nipple down low so I popped it back on and them had an overflow. Watched your video and took both ends off, blew it out, hooked it back up and I am running fine, for now. Thanks.
Thanks! My pressure hose came off at the tub! Great vid. Saved me some panic!!!
This video just saved me hundreds of dollars. Thanks
Thanks for the great, easy-to-follow info. The hose had worked it's way loose and it was an easy fix due to your demo!! (Kenmore 70 series washer)
John Hauschild Nice! Thanks for Watching!
I sense the honesty on this man. Thank you
Thanks, I spent part of Memorial Day cleaning up a whole bunch water on the laundry room floor. Now looking for a good video on repairing water damage. LOL
Very helpful. One important point was missing in my case. The pressure switch tube had come off the barrel and I put it back on while there was water in the barrel (indeed it was squirting out of the barrel) which meant that the air pressure level was incorrectly low, causing the washer to then overflow. By emptying the barrel completely and then re-attaching the tube again, it then worked correctly.
Thanks for Watching! Glad you were able to fix your machine.
Excellent video, very easy to understand.
My pressure hose got plugged somehow. Blew through it, checked it and it was/is working just fine now! Thanks a ton for this video!
thank you for your very practical information...
Checked mine and found a ball of lint gunk in the line. Took it loose from the switch and blew it out. Works great! Thanks!
My tube was off the switch! So easy to fix! Thank you!
thanks I have a GE and the hose was black with dirt. I replaced it for a couple of dollars and i'm back in business. thanks to you!
You made this presentation very easy to understand, thanks a lot.
Alan Pastor Your welcome! Thanks!
Great! Thanks for Watching!
Bill,,,Many thanks, I'm going to check that tube because it's not the inlet valves, I unplugged the washer and no water went in, ...great video !!
Spot on! Hole in the air pressure tube and it's a GE frontloader. Thanx! And the part was fairly cheap. Yes!
Thanks very much for the explanation. Very well done!
Thank you for everything you do for us!
