This is very common in lndia, they make it with clarified butter also known as ghee which gives it a unique, rich flavour. I have seen in many Turkish series this being served in memory of someone who has passed away.

Sometimes called "Halua" in some places.
In India we make Halwa out of wheat (atta), chickpea flour (besan), lentils (moong dal), and vegetables like beetroot and carrots too!

That's right Aysenur, in Europe we have coarse and thin semolina but for halva I prefer the coarse one as the result is more juicy. I love it with candied orange peel instead of nuts and sprinkle it with cinammon. Try also adding a chocolate bar when it is still in the pan for a chocolate version. Yummy!

Our cooking method with dry roasting the semolina in fat and then adding syrup (with or without milk) and addition of nuts is the same, but grape molasses and ice cream is new.
