The One Hundred Mile Azalea Forest, also known as the Baili Dujuan Scenic Area, in southwest China's Guizhou Province, is the largest, most diverse and best-preserved primitive azalea forest in the world. Over a million tourists flock to the scenic area each spring to see the riot of color. Martin Andanar explores how the "flower-viewing economy" has boosted tourism and rural vitalization in the area.

Rhododendrons and azaleas are completely different. My childhood hard had tons of both.

No. Different Genus. But both are found in similar climate. Azaleas are much smaller in size.

Excellent example of how China brought 800million out of poverty. Each area has unique qualities & possibilities. Imagination & keen understanding produce miraculous results such as this. Not turning the countryside into more cities but looking at the relief from city life they can offer while also providing good life for residents. Win, win= China!

They did not grow the park. The park contains the world's most ancient azalea's forest. It is actually rhododendrons. Chinese people call both azalea and rhododendron as dujuan 杜鵑 and the area is called bai'li dujuan 百里杜鵑 one hundred miles of rhododendron / azalea.
They also plant longer flowering rhododendrons and sell them in pots.
@@zhangruyi3153 All azaleas are Rhododendrons but not all Rhododendrons are azaleas. Most Azaleas are deciduous, but true Rhododendrons are usually evergreen. Azaleas have funnel shaped flowers. Rhodi flowers tend to be bell-shaped

I am surprised that you are unaware that people in different countries have different accents.
This is a tourist destination which is just a small part of China. The coverage is meant to have an authentic local jovial holiday mood and tone and therefore does not need the newsroom newscaster style to speak perfect English.
