J'ai visité la région et montagne du Wu-Tang quand j'étais ado avec mon père, paix à son âme. À l'époque j'étais un fan inconditionnel d'Art martiaux, je pratiquais le kung-fu et je louais des2 dizaines de DVD et VHS dans les vidéos clubs. C'était des années avant les kdrama et c-drama, avant toute cette hype et mode ado tout l'engouement de la culture K-pop J-pop et c-pop. Mon maître de kung-fu était chinois, paix à son âme, m'avait proposé de partir en voyage en Chine visiter le wudang et le temple Shaolin où le kung-fu est né. Il voyait que j'étais un fou inconditionnel d'Art martiaux. Parmi tous ses élèves c'était moi le plus passionné. Alors je l'ai convaincu de parler à mon père pour le convaincre de m'autoriser à partir et me payer le séjour. Mon père était de la vieille école surtout pour un Algérien il était difficile à convaincre. Alors finalement en échange de décrocher mon BEP il acceptait de me payer le voyage. J'ai donc décroché mon BEP et avec une très très bonne note. Je me souviens encore de ce jour là où j'ai couru à la maison pour annoncer à papa que j'avais eu mon diplôme. C'est comme ça que moi, un autre élève enfant de riche lol et notre maître on a passé 2 mois en Chine durant les vacances d'été. J'ai encore les photos Polaroïd de mon voyage. C'était extraordinaire. Et en plus on a eu la chance d'avoir quelques cours dans le temple avec les Shaolin. Dans les années 90 la Chine n'était pas encore autant ouverte qu'aujourd'hui. C'était même assez difficile d'avoir le Visa. Et y'avait une forte présence de la police communiste à chaque coin de rue. Les Chinois étaient très méfiants des touristes. Mais finalement grace à notre maître qui était chinois, un enfant du pays, toutes les portes nous ont été ouverte. J'étais très proche de mon maître. C'est dire il venait même à la maison avec sa femme et sa fille dont j'étais fou amoureux pour manger le couscous. Quand j'ai eu 17 ans sa fille xiaofu est devenue ma chérie. Mon premier amour. Rien que d'y repenser purée ça me rend nostalgique. Voilà comment j'ai réalisé mon rêve. D'ailleurs moi je voulais carrément y partir définitivement pour apprendre le kung-fu avec les Shaolin. Ça a été le voyage le plus incroyable de ma vie. Encore aujourd'hui même si adulte je suis retourné 2 fois en Chine. Ce lieu est spectaculaire. Faut le voir pour comprendre. Imaginez-vous, foulez ce lieu légendaire où est né le kung-fu pour un gamin bercé aux films hongkongais et passionné de 'kung-fu. C'était carrément u un mode de vie, une philosophie pour moi. Jamais j'oublierai ce voyage. Aujourd'hui mon maître n'est plus. Il est décédé en 2016 à l'âge de 92 ans. Quand papa est mort, mon maître était comme mon deuxième papa. J'avais beaucoup d'estime pour lui car il a façonné l'homme que je suis. Et pour la petite histoire, grace à lui je suis devenu champion de France, vice champion de France et et j'ai terminé plusieurs premiers dans des compétitions de kung-fu. J'ai aussi eu la chance d'exhiber au Salon Mondiale du kung-fu. Je l'ai fait durant plusieurs années consécutives. Anecdote : mon oncle est ceinture noire 7ème dan de Karaté. Avant de m'orienter vers le kung-fu c'est mon oncle qui m'avait initié au karaté et j'en ai fait durant 3 ans mais finalement c'était le kung-fu que je voulais faire. J'ai aussi pratiqué la boxe pour développer de nouvelles techniques. Le kung-fu c'est vraiment un art magnifique à tous les niveaux. C'est quasi l'ancêtre de tous les arts de combats

Une culture si ancré très respectueux ,partout où ils vivent jamais ils ne cherchent des querelles à quiconque ,pourtant ils font tout pour préserver leurs héritage ancestraux légué par leurs ancêtres : comme ce culte du taoïste ,le confucianisme très imprégné dans la société chinoise, ce culte des ancêtres.... Une des sociétés humaines la plus élaborée complète en tout point, Où chaque individu trouve sa place dans laquelle la femme comme l'homme ont chacun leurs rôles bien définie ,sans pour autant chercher à en dominer l'autre quoique le culte du mâle ,le 1er né reste très important pour la famille 👪 uniquement par l'égo la transmission du nom de famille du garçon,ce qui ramène au dérive les infanticides, des avortements ; si c'est une fille....et la Chine se trouve en pénurie de femme,eux qui ne se marient rien entre eux, une société très renfermée sur elle-même (semblable aux peuples juifs),enfin la Chine s'ouvre au monde...et se mélange non par choix parce qu'il n'ont pas assez de femme pour chaque homme... On devrait laisser les d'individus choisir porter les noms des deux familles pour l'égalité... Moi, je porte le nom de ma mère et ça me va très bien ,celui de mon père cela ne m'aurait pas gêner... I spent 6months there. It was devastatingly disappointing. I went there for learning taichi and spiritual cultivation. Nothing came of it - nature is beautiful, temples are beautiful but the entire mountain is a daoist disneyland, it's all for show, for tourism only. Even the "schools" there are just for show and tourist entertainment. Extremely expensive, crowded and loud!! Noone speaks a word of english, even though it is often advertised that they do. There are 5G towers every 100m. If you are a foreigner you will be photographed, recorded and livestreamed without permision like an animal in the zoo. People literally showe their phones into your face. Just for a short tourist visit it is absolutely worth it - a stunning place worth of admiration. For learning and cultivation find a different, less famous place.
You should have gone to Peng Lai Shen Dao ( Taiwan). I have lived here on a high Mountain in a Taoist community for almost 40 years. We practice genuine Internal Martial arts Hsing I, Pa Kua and Tai Chi and meditation a lot! We drink the best Oolong tea in the world and live very simple lives. For fun, we leave our Mountain and go to the beach!
I should say, and I feel your pain and disappointment, realizing that Old China died with the Cultural Revolution. the Old Essence of Taoist Learning and Civilization has been kept alive in Taiwan by elusive adepts. My situation was that I could have never ever have found my Taoist Brethren and the Mountain. They found me and invited me. Honestly so. I hope that you too can one day leave the world of red dust There are more accounts of those more worthy than I. The one I long for most is that of a man who was identified and gladly taken to KUNLUN SHAN! His life story was told by his dying elderly daughter on her deathbed to a very dear and precious Buddhist nun friend of mine. There are lots of amazing stories here about Cultivation people who have supernatural experiences….. young people now don’t care about our ancient Culture and just laugh at us and mock us….. So we retreat more and will just disappear into the mist of Bliss!

Evocative beauty is the place...these mountains, the pureness. Calligraphy... is like creating a small mountain, or a mountain range, surrounded by greenery, merged with the skies. And we stand beneath mountains, where there may be water flowing past by, or climb a little higher to be momentarily a part of the mountain. The calligrapher stands above the calligraphy, creating. The narrator should learn the pronunciation of key concept words properly. The word Qi should have been pronounced “chi” and not “ki”! The Quqing is prounced “ QuChin” not QuKin” . Tao de Ching ( pronounced Tao de Ching as spelled, not “kink “ Qing Dynssty “ Ching” not “King Dynasty”. Otherwise the documentary see well filmed! This film looks like it is at least 10-15 years old.
Human hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me. Such noble principles and empathy flows from ancient knowledge and sages, yet people do the opposite - sometimes even while pretending to be good people - or just follow external rituals. Just look at that woman carrying chickens as if they were objects at 31:31. An ancient culture that stresses the importance of nature and our human nature as part and a whole with it, allowing animal abuse for all purposes (just remember where COVID came from, animal live markets). This needs to change. China doesn't even have laws against animal abuse, that's absurd. That said, I hope we can be better people, appreciating life and letting others, including animals, do so too.

Quite lovely, really, and in spite of our friend @luciapandrova reporting from her personal experience that it’s all a great tourist trap (which surely it is, but how many places worth seeing in the world are NOT these days?)… At first mildly annoying, the textural differentials between the British narrator’s voice (obviously the original!) and the captioned text below became increasingly fascinating after I realized that the voice over narration had been translated into Chinese and then back to English again, and the great differences in how concepts might be expressed within the same language were rather entertaining in their own right. While some would without doubt suggest that it’s the Chinese CCP attempting to nefariously “control the narrative” (which is doubtless true to a certain extent, but I only found one or two instances in nearly an hour where such might have occurred, and then it was simply like the deletion of the second half of an analogy), but what of it? Any western country would no doubt do the same, and often a great deal more egregiously! I watch a lot of CCTV (well, I’m subscribed, although YT only rarely reminds me to watch it, and also I’m generally so “oversubscribed” that it’s usually dealer’s choice when I’m doom-scrolling YT!), but it is nowhere near, in fact NEVER, the endlessly depressing fountain of angst and racist hyper-patriotic vitriol that in general is the hallmark of the “mainstream” American press. I have never seen, nor do I expect to see, President Xi wrapping himself in the “red and gold,” or hawking specially bound copies of the Confucian Analects or the Tao Te Ching, stamped with the Mandarin characters meaning “Make China Great Again!” In spite of their many grievous “humanities,” and errors over the millennia, China is, was, and will always be great, and they know it! And a special word of thanks from my seldom sufficiently humble self to China, for tea, silk, paper money and perhaps most especially toilet paper… The real reason for the double translation was beyond doubt to expedite further lingual offerings, as I notice about half the previous comments are from French speakers (go Macron, go NATO, let’s bury Putin, “Slava Ukraini!”)… Is it just me, or after a certain point doesn’t it become easier and easier to love all the peoples and cultures of the world, and to appreciate both our samenesses and our very wonderful differences? J'ai visité la région et montagne du Wu-Tang quand j'étais ado avec mon père, paix à son âme. À l'époque j'étais un fan inconditionnel d'Art martiaux, je pratiquais le kung-fu et je louais des2 dizaines de DVD et VHS dans les vidéos clubs. C'était des années avant les kdrama et c-drama, avant toute cette hype et mode ado tout l'engouement de la culture K-pop J-pop et c-pop. Mon maître de kung-fu était chinois, paix à son âme, m'avait proposé de partir en voyage en Chine visiter le wudang et le temple Shaolin où le kung-fu est né. Il voyait que j'étais un fou inconditionnel d'Art martiaux. Parmi tous ses élèves c'était moi le plus passionné. Alors je l'ai convaincu de parler à mon père pour le convaincre de m'autoriser à partir et me payer le séjour. Mon père était de la vieille école surtout pour un Algérien il était difficile à convaincre. Alors finalement en échange de décrocher mon BEP il acceptait de me payer le voyage. J'ai donc décroché mon BEP et avec une très très bonne note. Je me souviens encore de ce jour là où j'ai couru à la maison pour annoncer à papa que j'avais eu mon diplôme. C'est comme ça que moi, un autre élève enfant de riche lol et notre maître on a passé 2 mois en Chine durant les vacances d'été. J'ai encore les photos Polaroïd de mon voyage. C'était extraordinaire. Et en plus on a eu la chance d'avoir quelques cours dans le temple avec les Shaolin. Dans les années 90 la Chine n'était pas encore autant ouverte qu'aujourd'hui. C'était même assez difficile d'avoir le Visa. Et y'avait une forte présence de la police communiste à chaque coin de rue. Les Chinois étaient très méfiants des touristes. Mais finalement grace à notre maître qui était chinois, un enfant du pays, toutes les portes nous ont été ouverte. J'étais très proche de mon maître. C'est dire il venait même à la maison avec sa femme et sa fille dont j'étais fou amoureux pour manger le couscous. Quand j'ai eu 17 ans sa fille xiaofu est devenue ma chérie. Mon premier amour. Rien que d'y repenser purée ça me rend nostalgique. Voilà comment j'ai réalisé mon rêve. D'ailleurs moi je voulais carrément y partir définitivement pour apprendre le kung-fu avec les Shaolin. Ça a été le voyage le plus incroyable de ma vie. Encore aujourd'hui même si adulte je suis retourné 2 fois en Chine. Ce lieu est spectaculaire. Faut le voir pour comprendre. Imaginez-vous, foulez ce lieu légendaire où est né le kung-fu pour un gamin bercé aux films hongkongais et passionné de 'kung-fu. C'était carrément u un mode de vie, une philosophie pour moi. Jamais j'oublierai ce voyage.
Aujourd'hui mon maître n'est plus. Il est décédé en 2016 à l'âge de 92 ans. Quand papa est mort, mon maître était comme mon deuxième papa. J'avais beaucoup d'estime pour lui car il a façonné l'homme que je suis. Et pour la petite histoire, grace à lui je suis devenu champion de France, vice champion de France et et j'ai terminé plusieurs premiers dans des compétitions de kung-fu. J'ai aussi eu la chance d'exhiber au Salon Mondiale du kung-fu. Je l'ai fait durant plusieurs années consécutives. Anecdote : mon oncle est ceinture noire 7ème dan de Karaté. Avant de m'orienter vers le kung-fu c'est mon oncle qui m'avait initié au karaté et j'en ai fait durant 3 ans mais finalement c'était le kung-fu que je voulais faire. J'ai aussi pratiqué la boxe pour développer de nouvelles techniques. Le kung-fu c'est vraiment un art magnifique à tous les niveaux. C'est quasi l'ancêtre de tous les arts de combats

Une culture si ancré très respectueux ,partout où ils vivent jamais ils ne cherchent des querelles à quiconque ,pourtant ils font tout pour préserver leurs héritage ancestraux légué par leurs ancêtres : comme ce culte du taoïste ,le confucianisme très imprégné dans la société chinoise, ce culte des ancêtres....
Une des sociétés humaines la plus élaborée complète en tout point, Où chaque individu trouve sa place
dans laquelle la femme comme l'homme ont chacun leurs rôles bien définie ,sans pour autant chercher à en dominer l'autre quoique le culte du mâle ,le 1er né reste très important pour la famille 👪 uniquement par l'égo la transmission du nom de famille du garçon,ce qui ramène au dérive les infanticides, des avortements ; si c'est une fille....et la Chine se trouve en pénurie de femme,eux qui ne se marient rien entre eux, une société très renfermée sur elle-même (semblable aux peuples juifs),enfin la Chine s'ouvre au monde...et se mélange non par choix parce qu'il n'ont pas assez de femme pour chaque homme...
On devrait laisser les d'individus choisir porter les noms des deux familles pour l'égalité...
Moi, je porte le nom de ma mère et ça me va très bien ,celui de mon père cela ne m'aurait pas gêner...

I spent 6months there. It was devastatingly disappointing. I went there for learning taichi and spiritual cultivation. Nothing came of it - nature is beautiful, temples are beautiful but the entire mountain is a daoist disneyland, it's all for show, for tourism only. Even the "schools" there are just for show and tourist entertainment. Extremely expensive, crowded and loud!!
Noone speaks a word of english, even though it is often advertised that they do.
There are 5G towers every 100m.
If you are a foreigner you will be photographed, recorded and livestreamed without permision like an animal in the zoo. People literally showe their phones into your face.
Just for a short tourist visit it is absolutely worth it - a stunning place worth of admiration.
For learning and cultivation find a different, less famous place.

You should have gone to Peng Lai Shen Dao ( Taiwan). I have lived here on a high Mountain in a Taoist community for almost 40 years. We practice genuine Internal Martial arts Hsing I, Pa Kua and Tai Chi and meditation a lot! We drink the best Oolong tea in the world and live very simple lives. For fun, we leave our Mountain and go to the beach!
I should say, and I feel your pain and disappointment, realizing that Old China died with the Cultural Revolution. the Old Essence of Taoist Learning and Civilization has been kept alive in Taiwan by elusive adepts. My situation was that I could have never ever have found my Taoist Brethren and the Mountain. They found me and invited me. Honestly so. I hope that you too can one day leave the world of red dust

His life story was told by his dying elderly daughter on her deathbed to a very dear and precious Buddhist nun friend of mine.

The narrator should learn the pronunciation of key concept words properly. The word Qi should have been pronounced “chi” and not “ki”! The Quqing is prounced “ QuChin” not QuKin” . Tao de Ching ( pronounced Tao de Ching as spelled, not “kink “ Qing Dynssty “ Ching” not “King Dynasty”. Otherwise the documentary see well filmed! This film looks like it is at least 10-15 years old.

Human hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me. Such noble principles and empathy flows from ancient knowledge and sages, yet people do the opposite - sometimes even while pretending to be good people - or just follow external rituals. Just look at that woman carrying chickens as if they were objects at 31:31. An ancient culture that stresses the importance of nature and our human nature as part and a whole with it, allowing animal abuse for all purposes (just remember where COVID came from, animal live markets). This needs to change. China doesn't even have laws against animal abuse, that's absurd. That said, I hope we can be better people, appreciating life and letting others, including animals, do so too.

Quite lovely, really, and in spite of our friend @luciapandrova reporting from her personal experience that it’s all a great tourist trap (which surely it is, but how many places worth seeing in the world are NOT these days?)…
At first mildly annoying, the textural differentials between the British narrator’s voice (obviously the original!) and the captioned text below became increasingly fascinating after I realized that the voice over narration had been translated into Chinese and then back to English again, and the great differences in how concepts might be expressed within the same language were rather entertaining in their own right.
While some would without doubt suggest that it’s the Chinese CCP attempting to nefariously “control the narrative” (which is doubtless true to a certain extent, but I only found one or two instances in nearly an hour where such might have occurred, and then it was simply like the deletion of the second half of an analogy), but what of it?
Any western country would no doubt do the same, and often a great deal more egregiously! I watch a lot of CCTV (well, I’m subscribed, although YT only rarely reminds me to watch it, and also I’m generally so “oversubscribed” that it’s usually dealer’s choice when I’m doom-scrolling YT!), but it is nowhere near, in fact NEVER, the endlessly depressing fountain of angst and racist hyper-patriotic vitriol that in general is the hallmark of the “mainstream” American press. I have never seen, nor do I expect to see, President Xi wrapping himself in the “red and gold,” or hawking specially bound copies of the Confucian Analects or the Tao Te Ching, stamped with the Mandarin characters meaning “Make China Great Again!” In spite of their many grievous “humanities,” and errors over the millennia, China is, was, and will always be great, and they know it!
And a special word of thanks from my seldom sufficiently humble self to China, for tea, silk, paper money and perhaps most especially toilet paper…
The real reason for the double translation was beyond doubt to expedite further lingual offerings, as I notice about half the previous comments are from French speakers (go Macron, go NATO, let’s bury Putin, “Slava Ukraini!”)…
Is it just me, or after a certain point doesn’t it become easier and easier to love all the peoples and cultures of the world, and to appreciate both our samenesses and our very wonderful differences?
