It is more amazing when they quiet 10,00-12,000. people of all ages all holding their breath. At the beauty of this song. It touhes my soul. Those voices are just out of this world.
Yes those off mic performances are the best. Unfortunately last summer when they sang this at my show, a bunch of the people in the lawn seating were drunk and were hooting and hollering through the whole thing. Like they thought they were supposed to show how good they thought it was. It was so disappointing as I had taken my mom to her first Ptx concert and was excited for her to witness the off mic performance and be just as awed by it as I was when I saw them do light in the Hallway off mic at my first show In 2016.
@betsyvondracek4009 yes and the comment you left just before this one reminded me that Scott or any of the others forgot to tell the crowd that they needed silence during the song. I know he usually does it. It was the 2nd to last show of the tour and I also had tickets for the last show and they didn't even sing it so I was afraid those drunk people had ruined it for them and they weren't going to do it anymore. Glad to see they brought it back for this summer tour with Can't Help Falling In Love.
FYI, there is a mic hidden behind the light. If you sit to the side, you can clearly see it. It is wonderful that they still do these quiet choral pieces. Loved when I saw them do this last Fall.
O truly love this and thought nothing could top it until I saw them last month do "can't help falling in love" off Mic. Sweet heavenly Angels, it changed my life to witness that from forth row 🥺🙏🏾
As you mentioned, you've read that they perform this around a mic - typically they have one song in every concert where they put down their mics and sing in a circle around a single mic. Scott begins by saying they're going 'old school' and asks the audience to be quiet. In the videos I've seen, you could hear a pin drop. At the concert I attended, the audience wasn't quite so respectful and there were a few loud yellers in the back. BUT, it didn't entirely ruin the experience. This was the song they sang for a long time, they did Run to You for a couple years, but this summer's tour they've replaced it with Can't Help Falling in Love. Here's a fan's recording of it ua-cam.com/video/e4f-82zsqE8/v-deo.html Since I Know you've heard the studio version, you might appreciate a recent live version and how Mitch changes it up. I eagerly await each and every one of your PTX analysis and I'm learning a whole new vocabulary and appreciate for the subtleties of musicianship. Thanks for all the time you put into your videos - it must take FORever - and, speaking for this fan, it's very appreciated!
My favorite "one-mic song" was Light in the Hallway. A really great video of them doing it is from a concert in Lisbon, which I still watch whenever I can't fall asleep.
They sang this at the close of many of their concerts - this and "Run To You" and "Light in the Hallway" are just so special. In concert they ask for quiet and put down the microphones and huddle around them - and you can hear a pin drop when they start. It's magical
This is a special song for Pentatonix. During 2010-11 Scott's first and only year in college, he sang with the college's a capella chorus, which did an arrangement of this (The Rescues version came out in 2010). He loved it, and after Pentatonix formed, during their early struggles to build an audience, he taught it to the group and they would listen to it and probably sing their own version. They often say that many of their homophonic arrangements have been based on it, including their original song, "Run To You". Ten years later, they finally recorded it for their 2021 "Evergreen" Christmas album.
Always appreciate your observations - thank you! Pentatonix members quite often close their eyes, concentrating on their blend. They've sung with each other for so long that even their hand gestures (as you have noticed in other reactions) are in sync.
That was so beautiful! They blow me away. Mitch and Kirsten are perfection. But Scott! His voice just grabs my soul. ❤ ❤❤ His soft tone, his belting voice, Good Lord chills all over me body. Thank you for going over all the parts and explaining what's happening. Kevin and Matt-❤❤❤
I was “front and center” when they did this in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA on 12/18/21! At that time it was their largest audience to date. You could have literally heard a pin drop during their performance of this song!! If someone cleared their throat or coughed, they probably received a throat punch or were humanely suffocated by the folks near by because this was so angelic!!
So glad you enjoyed this beautiful song from PTX! This song has a permanent place in my top 5 Pentatonix songs of all time - 3 of those places are permanent, but the other 2 float depending on what I've listened to recently. You mentioned that PTX left out the 2nd part of the first verse of the song. This video was recorded for their live BYU-TV Christmas special (as their outro mentioned), and I think it may have been cut slightly for time. When PTX sings the song in concert (which they do regularly), it's the full version. PTX has used this song as their closing number several times for concerts, singing it very similarly to how they do it here. Everyone gathers together in a semi-circle, puts down their individual mics, and sings it using just a single central microphone, often with only a single light illuminating the stage. It truly looks and sounds magical! Closing their eyes: you can see that everyone spends a majority of the song with their eyes closed, just listening to each other. In this video and in the live version from the Hollywood Bowl 2022, there's not a single shot of Mitch with his eyes open during the entire song. This is a song that I have always said has no solo singer, but DOES have a lead singer, who I believe is Kirstin. I have 3 reasons for that statement. 1) When you listen to the song with headphones (if you're not, why aren't you?), Kirstin's voice is always in the center channel (this is especially evident in the studio recording). Mitch is on the left, Scott is on the right, Matt is "behind" Kirstin, and Kevin...I'll confess, even in this song, I STILL can't pick out Kevin's voice unless he's doing something "solo-y" in nature. Being in the central channel doesn't guarantee you're listening to the lead singer with PTX, but it's a good be that you are. 2) Kirstin's line is almost always the "main melody", what I'd expect to hear if someone was singing this song as a single voice. Mitch's and Scott's lines are obviously harmony lines in 3-part, Matt is the bass, and Kevin...see my earlier comment, but Kevin's line is rarely the "main melody" unless he's singing a solo. 3) I said that this song has no solo singer, which is technically not correct. There is 1 very(!) short solo in the song: at the beginning of the 2nd chorus ("My love, the reason I survive"), Kirstin starts her line with "And" (more of an "nd" really). When I first saw this video, I thought that since it was a live recording it was a fluke, a one-off, an "error" if you will. But then I began listening to other versions: the studio version, several live versions from concert, and EVERY time at that point in the song, Kirstin sings that one note/word by herself. No one else ever does it, or does a single note/word by themselves, and she does it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. So for those reasons, I always think of this song as a (very subtle) Kirstin lead.
I always enjoy your reviews. I learn so much from you. That makes me appreciate what these amazing singers do so much more. I recently heard Matt & Mitch with their lower harmonies.blending together on "Mad World". I love that sound. Now I'm able to pick it out on other songs, like their "Home" medley. Thanks again for your master class.
It is so special to watch and listen to them singing this. Much of the time, their eyes are closed. They are so in tune with each other, they do not need to look at each other. I have seen this in concert several times and it is magical each time.
Thank you Sir Hairless! I’ve always loved this raw and simple feeling performance full of scrunchy chords. FYI: Scott posted pictures with Imogen Heap on his socials a couple days ago!
As a Pentaholic for 10+ years I’m always looking for new reactions/analyses of their songs I’ve watched & enjoyed all your reactions You’re the most thorough, thoughtful, academic, & wholesome reactor I’ve come across Your knowledge & overall appreciation of music is a gift & we’re all lucky that you share it with us Keep up the excellent work 🙌🏼
🟨🟨🟧🟨🟨 .... Sir Hairless ... I wasn't aware that I needed to hear Pentatonix, on the 4th of July holiday here in the States. But ... I did .... Thanks to you. The song has been over for a few moments and I am wondering if my goosebumps are going to go down. These harmonies are beyond anything normal. Thanks for the education. 🟨🟨🟧🟨🟨
I've been waiting for your next Pentatonix reaction. Isn't this beautiful? Wow, even for one of your reactions, I learnt such a lot in this analysis. Thank you! I got the feeling that this one did affect you a bit as you had that wet eye/goosebumps look! If Voiceplay are the masters of rhythm, are Pentatonix maybe the masters of harmony?! They often do this one at their live shows in between all the up tempo ones that have a lot of beat boxing etc. The audience absolutely love it when they just stand in a circle together and make the most haunting, beautiful music. You often hear harmonics because they are so in tune with each other. You keep mentioning the 'Imogen Heap' moments - I truly think now is the time for you to do Aha - Imogen Heap cover, live in SIngapore. The official video is fun, but the live version with Mitch hopped up on Red bulls and Avi blowing the amp is just something that has no parallel. You've done upbeat (Come along) and calm (My heart with you) now you need to do straight up bonkers with Aha! I would also recommend The Sound of Silence and Mad World. Thank you as ever, I continually watch your reactions over and over again and learn something new each time! 😊🎤❤🎵🎶
Very beautiful. Yes! So I listened to this song on repeat for a few days following this reaction, and the bit from 15:43 - 16:10 is up there with my favourite PTX moments of all time In moments like that, they certainly are the masters of harmony....or maybe the masters of blend? Thanks for the recommendations! I'd love to get to them all next but my list is massive - I never know what my next reaction will be until the day (so it's kind of a surprise to me too 😅)
Had to run over when I got this notification!! Thank you!! Needed a Pentatonix one sooo much for an uplift! I haven’t even watched it yet, but I just know you & your analysis are going to be amazing, fulfilling & mood lifting. Thank you again as always!!
This performance perfectly illustrates why the human voice is most powerful, exceptional, and moving instrument. Your detailed explanation adds understanding to this phenomenal piece. Thank you
This was filmed as part of "Christmas Under the Stars", a 2021 concert / TV special for the television channel owned and run by Brigham Young University. Most of the songs were live on stage, but this and one other were filmed in a studio. The full concert is only available through BYU, and isn't always available there, only sometimes during the holidays.
Such a beautiful song. When they perform this live the audience goes silent. Definitely goosebumps. Im sure someone has already mentioned that Scott and PTX can make, what appears to be a non-Christmas song, a Christmas song. I just think they love Christmas and love singing. Thanks for your reaction.
They sang this at their Christmas concert last year, singing from a small secondary stage set within the audience. It felt incredibly intimate despite there being about 20,000 people in the arena. Positively breathtaking!
This inspired their original Run to You which is another five part harmony song. If the venue is small enough they will just sing it without a mic. They usually sing around a single mic since they usually play larger venues. Another five part original is Light in the Hallway. Scott wrote it and Avi has the lead.
I believe it was Scott who brought it. He talked about how they used to listen to it a lot in the early Ptx days. Which obviously inspired Run To You? I think he said they sang it in his collage a cappella group for the one year he was there before Ptx formed.
I have come to appreciate and enjoy your in-depth analysis of each song. I use to skip to the timestamp you provided to the next section of the song. No more. This particular song has special meaning to me. I lost my wife of 50 years four years ago. The words to the song reflect my belief and trust that she and I will be together again. It's a comforting thought that envelopes me in a cocoon of warmth.
When I can’t tell whether I’m hearing Mitch or Kirstie, I just think “Mirstie” and salute them both. I don’t know how we’ve let you go so long in the Avi era without Hallelujah….and now that you’re listening to Matt, Amazing Grace and The Prayer are mandatory as well. OH, and The Sound of Silence also!
As usual, your reactions are spotless !! I have couple off interesting related Pentatonix recommendations. 1) I think you did the reaction to their "Sugar Plum Fairy" (received a Grammy)...but, an one of their concerts (Orolando), Kevin and Matt performed a musical reinvention of that performance...ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR !!! 2) Once again at a live Pentatonix performance (Kentucky), Kevin , arranged, produced and performed what he called "Kevin's 5th"....AGAIN AMAZINGLY SPECTACULAR !!! He's truly a musical genius, and I'm sure you will be shocked at this group's overall talent !!!
So amazingly beautiful goosebumps galore. This is why I love them sooo very much. I Can’t wait to see them live in August. I wish I had their concert playlist! ❤️💯R/A🎼
I don’t have a playlist but here is a really good video of their recent concert in Reno. ua-cam.com/video/LcfaD72ORIc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared I think you can get an idea of the set list.
This one always gives me chills, even more so when I saw it live. I am still desperately waiting for Hallelujah with Avi, their Sing Off performance of Dogs Days are over and Sound of Silence! pretty please :)
I've been waiting for this one from you for months now! Myself and family were 3rd row at their Christmas concert in Nashville TN in 2021 when they did this. Laid their mics down, dimmed all the lights except one in the center of their circle, and 20,000 people held their breaths while they wove their magical voices around us. Just a powerful moment...
I've seen pentatonix and concert almost every year since they started in 2013. At every concert, regardless of the size period they always ask the crowd to be quiet and they go off mic and old school like this. it is typically the song run to you, but this one's even better. You can hear a pin drop
Aaaah I really enjoyed this one. I was engrossed on it and on your reaction, I felt like you felt it a lot, correct me if I'm wrong. Where you said "What am I doing?" in text, you were like transfixed on some note you heard, your brain does its own calculations, uh? This gave me peace, I already heard this many times, but your voice was specifically soothing for me here, I liked how you treated this one more than normal, I don't really know why, maybe when you really really like something, that comes out of you. I felt your passion. Congratulations Sir Hairless. Another clean, intelligent and heartfelt reaction and analysis. Hugs from Argentina, Lupe.-
Haha yes I think you're right 😅I think at that point I was mapping out the bass part in relation to Scott's part in my head. I usually do this by singing the bass part out loud, but I remembered I was on video and unfortunately my mic audio is not in sync with the video audio, so if I sing along live it will be slightly delayed and ruin the PTX audio, so I stopped myself as I was about to create an audible sound I do believe sometimes passion can just be seen/felt, even if the reactor doesn't know it! The section from 15:43 - 16:10 is up there with one of my favourite bits of PTX music of all time Thanks, as always
This is one of my fav PTX covers! They can do some crazy arrangements , then do things like this that are so “simple” and beautiful. I vote yes for Christmas in July! 12 Days of Christmas (so fun!), O Holy Night (2023 version), Mr Grinch (Matt lead), That’s Christmas to Me or Evergreen (originals), Pure Imagination/Christmas Time is Here (mashup). Soooo much to choose from
Love your reactions. Can't wait for you to do another Pentatonix reaction. But I was wondering do you have any videos with you singing. It sounds like you would have an amazing voice. I would love to hear something. Have a great day.
That was totally amazing from any point of view. They did a wonderful job of singing it, and you did a wonderful job (as always) of explaining what was happening as they sang it. VERY BEAUTIFUL! Thank you!
Just beautiful. I really enjoy Mitch's lower register. I love his ability to stun people with his epic highs but he is so much more than only that. I understand the use of extreme high notes and extreme low notes but I hate to see a singer pigeonholed for only that purpose. This song and arrangement, to me, is so much more stunningly beautiful. Thank you so much for this wonderful reaction/analysis. Peace✌
I saw this live and let me tell you, the whole filled stadium was silent... SILENT... you could have heard a pin drop. Tears all around it was beeeeeautiful! I love your reactions, bud. Keep spreading the knowledge 😊
Goosebumps for me too. So pretty! Yes, I'll count it as a Christmas song via a Scott standard. Loved this analysis due to the richness of the harmonies. Thanks again for your ptx interests. 🎄 😊
Great reaction. Wow. It's amazing to me the variety of music that they do and do so well. I made a comment about 10 years ago that I thought they could do some Def Leppard and make it sound amazing.
This is the definition of gorgeous! Thanks for another excellent analysis. I always look for your PTX reactions. As someone else said, this video came from a 2021 BYUtv Christmas special. That whole program is stellar and they usually make it available for viewing during December. The version of Carol of the Bells from this special is my favorite recording- it really shows Mitch’s unbelievable cyclical breathing. Maybe you could put that on your list in December 😊. PTX Christmas in (insert month) is always a win for me!
For me, a distinguishing characteristic of Pentatonix is the common use of dissonant harmony. While some people may find “dissonant harmony” an oxymoron they use it very effectively to accentuate resolution to a standard harmonic chord although I have sometimes actually heard them end a song on an unresolved dissonant chord (which is quite unusual). As always, I love your analyses of the many techniques Pentatonix uses to make them such a unique and compelling a capella group. I find them the most versatile a capella group today both in musical genre expression and musical technique. The fact that they have an incredibly creative videographer only adds to their musical performance
Lol... And the sun came out as Kirstie sang that beautiful major note ☀️ Nice, sweet, tender, endearing... They are sooooo good! Thank you for this lovely gift. You made my day. 🤗
I love all the PTX performances. They never fail to impress me with their arrangements and vocals. This close harmony is so beautiful and peaceful. I just finished listening to a fan cam recording of their most recent Reno concert a couple of weeks ago. They sang Can’t Help Falling in Love with You around one mic. It was stunning even recorded on an iPhone from the back of the audience. I sometimes have problems hearing Kevin, when they do five-part harmony. Maybe that’s because I’ve heard the other four sing hundreds of times and him not so often. I’m going to listen to this a couple of times to see if I can isolate it. Thanks for the great reaction. I know what you mean about the breaths. When I’m singing in choir and we do acapella, breathing is a real cue when to sing. It feels like a group dynamic thing. You feel it as much as you hear it.
I love nice things too. Those feelings still follow me no matter how many times I hear this song. This one pierces the soul. Loved your genuine reaction to the nice things😊❤
Beautifully done. At first I thought it was just a copy of the The Rescues’ version, a song I blast in my car because of those harmonies, but it’s nice that Pentatonix added some of their own style. Love your explanations. ❤
I love this one! When they strip back up just their pure voices it gives full body chills every time!! Love your reactions and always your analysis is the BEST! ❤🙌🏻
The breath sounds were - to me - analogous to the sliding-squeak sounds of fingers sliding between chords over a fret board that you often hear in acoustic guitar playing: incidental sounds that become part of the performance. Interesting note on the timing component of the breaths.
Ohhh, this was a nice one indeed! ❤ So soft... Didn't know the song at all, but it's really lovely and beautiful and soothing and touching - and your reaction even increased this feeling, so - thank you so much for presenting this beautiful little gem! 🙏💎❤️
@@SirHairless I sang at a bandstand concert in Kingston upon Thames on Sunday and we had thunder, lightning, some spells of sunshine and a lot of rain! The irony of my choir singing 'Here comes the sun' and one of us soloists singing 'Blue skies' was not lost on me! ⛈🤣
I just Knew you would get goosebumps from this one. So happy you did a reaction for it. As usual you make me listen in an entirely new way to what's going on even though I've listened to this song countless times. I still get goosebumps 😊
Gorgeous song, great reaction and awesome analysis. I don’t know anything about music, but I’m learning from you and you’re inspiring me to learn more.
Thank you for another flawless analysis. Really appreciate the chord breakdown and progressions. We would *love* to hear something you have composed...please. And now that you started with a Christmas in July, how about a Tim Burton halloween/christmas mix? Their "Making Christmas" is superb.
I've not done any composing in nearly 10 years! Perhaps they're best left locked away for good 😅 Thanks for the recommendation of "Making Christmas" 🎄🎃
My daughter and I see this as from the perspective of the soldier in war thinking about his love left at home and their version of all I want for Christmas is you from the perspective of the love at home missing him and at the end of that song he's there outside her door and they are reunited. It's hard to listen to without crying.
At this point, they’re stretching the bounds of Christmas music, but I guess that happens when you run out of traditional hymns and carols! More power to them, I will always play along. You mentioned, very briefly, the pairing of Mitch and Matt. I love their voices together. Thanks for the Christmas-in-July episode! Peace …
I saw PTX live in Manchester when they toured, I’m sure they put the mics down and did “old school A Cappella” the arena was silent. It was just beautiful.
SirHairless: thanks for demonstrating on the piano, all the possible chord combos for just 3 voices. This showcases the choices of an arranger. Do you still sing/perform in some capacity? Because songs like this one move you so much. 😊 Might we look forward to you treating us to your singing? Please? 🙂
Thanks! 🎹 Unfortunately I don't still sing/perform (at least not professionally). Sir Hairless is really my only musical exposure these days, other than occasionally watching performances/concerts/gigs etc.
Another wonderful reaction! I think you would love their live (official video) cover of Silent Night from 9 years ago if you are doing Christmas in July. I think it is simply beautiful.
Thanks again, this is a beautiful one, and it's hard to choose from so many. I would love to see your reaction to their evolution of Ariana Grande or Rihanna. I know you did the Michael Jackson evolution but it pales in comparison to how far they have come with these two. They are masters at transition and know just the right parts and even sometimes just notes of different songs to use.
I've been waiting for you to get to this one. This didn't disappoint. Thank you so much for continuing your PTX journey. I would love to see you react to "The Recording of Evergreen" a behind the scenes look at their recording of that album (which includes their upgrades of "I Just Called to Say I Love You" and "The Prayer"). Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/M60SKKkQLqo/v-deo.html&pp=ygUWcmVjb3JkaW5nIG9mIGV2ZXJncmVlbg%3D%3D
An even better version of this song was recorded at a Hollywood Bowl concert, live, where they put down their microphones and used a single mic in the middle. It also features the "missing lyric" you noticed. That was cut from the TV special to fit time requirements. Enjoy this, even if you don't analyze it. Nothing beats their true, unaugmented a cappella singing: ua-cam.com/video/fcSkFppAFms/v-deo.html
This version is actually a verse shorter than their studio recording and how they perform it at shows. This version was for a Christmas special and got shortened for time. *Editing to say that I just got to the part where you point out that they skip a part. It is included on their recording. Also the studio version has Mitch in one ear, Scott in the other and Kirstie’s voice over top or in the middle instead of mixing them all together like they usually do in the studio. So if you were listening to the studio version you’d definitely be able to tell which part is Scott and which is Mitch. I can’t remember if you did Their original Run To You during your Avi era videos but Ptx said that they used to listen to this song when they were first a group and it’s actually what inspired them to write run to you. I actually prefer run to you over this one but both beautiful.
They usually DO sing the second verse, on the studio version and in the live concert performances I've seen. They must have decided they wanted a shorter version for this. I hadn't heard this version in a while and was startled at the skip. I thought for a second you had cut out the verse.

I can’t explain to you how powerful this is in person. The stadium is completely silent except for those 5 beautiful voices.
I heard this in a hockey arena with PTX around a big light an NO MIKES with 10K+. Complete silence. Memorable.

First time I've heard this PTX cover. Thought of "Run to You" immediately. I can imagine it would be sensational in a concert hall.
This is a special song for Pentatonix. During 2010-11 Scott's first and only year in college, he sang with the college's a capella chorus, which did an arrangement of this (The Rescues version came out in 2010).
Thanks for the insightful comment!
Thanks - this is very interesting and I had not noticed the Kirstin moment!
They have said they close their eyes to better listen to each other. Magic is what I call it
Thank you Sir Hairless! I’ve always loved this raw and simple feeling performance full of scrunchy chords.
FYI: Scott posted pictures with Imogen Heap on his socials a couple days ago!
As a Pentaholic for 10+ years I’m always looking for new reactions/analyses of their songs
I’ve watched & enjoyed all your reactions
You’re the most thorough, thoughtful, academic, & wholesome reactor I’ve come across
Your knowledge & overall appreciation of music is a gift & we’re all lucky that you share it with us
Keep up the excellent work 🙌🏼
That's very kind of you to say, thank you
Their "Scott hands" are in harmony too 😆
I'm sure we're not alone in the goosebumps gang for this one!
I'd love to get to them all next but my list is massive - I never know what my next reaction will be until the day (so it's kind of a surprise to me too 😅)
I SO look forward to seeing your reviews of ANY group but the most for Pentatonix! What a great 4th of July Christmas! 😄
No shame at all, Sir, I found both the song and your reaction, ‘quite nice’. Thank you, again.
Had to run over when I got this notification!! Thank you!! Needed a Pentatonix one sooo much for an uplift! I haven’t even watched it yet, but I just know you & your analysis are going to be amazing, fulfilling & mood lifting. Thank you again as always!!
❤
This performance perfectly illustrates why the human voice is most powerful, exceptional, and moving instrument. Your detailed explanation adds understanding to this phenomenal piece. Thank you
🙏 Indeed! Thanks
Haha yes, someone once commented that Scott will deem a song fit for their Christmas album if it so much mentions 'snow' ❄😅
I've reacted to Run To You (a live performance), it's very nice 🎵
This song was brought to Pentatonix through Avi, I believe, and inspired, Run to You, done with Avi, in 5 part harmony. An absolutely beautiful song.
Gorgeous here. Even more amazing in person. Your reactions are so informative from a musical perspective and I can tell you enjoy Pentatonix
This song makes me cry every time I hear it because it's so beautifully arranged!! Thank you for this amazing breakdown.
So amazingly beautiful goosebumps galore. This is why I love them sooo very much. I
Can’t wait to see them live in August. I wish I had their concert playlist!
❤️💯R/A🎼
I don’t have a playlist but here is a really good video of their recent concert in Reno.
ua-cam.com/video/LcfaD72ORIc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I think you can get an idea of the set list.
I'm sure it'll be amazing!
It was nice to hear The Trio sing the first verse and then Pentatonix there after.
This one always gives me chills, even more so when I saw it live. I am still desperately waiting for Hallelujah with Avi, their Sing Off performance of Dogs Days are over and Sound of Silence! pretty please :)
Pretty pretty please!!
This one is so special. Always brings a tear. Thank you for appreciating their take on this and for your educated (as always) and heartfelt reaction.
Yayyyy, Pentatonix day - my favorite! 🎉❤ Thank you, Sir! 🙃
Hugs from Argentina,
Lupe.-
Haha yes I think you're right 😅I think at that point I was mapping out the bass part in relation to Scott's part in my head. I usually do this by singing the bass part out loud, but I remembered I was on video and unfortunately my mic audio is not in sync with the video audio, so if I sing along live it will be slightly delayed and ruin the PTX audio, so I stopped myself as I was about to create an audible sound
I do believe sometimes passion can just be seen/felt, even if the reactor doesn't know it! The section from 15:43 - 16:10 is up there with one of my favourite bits of PTX music of all time
Thanks, as always
@@SirHairless Oh yes! Yes that section from 15:43 I just went back to it, you were instantly affected. I REALLY enjoyed this video.
Thank you!
I may reveal more about my musical past in a Q&A if I ever reach a certain milestone
🎄
Too beautiful!!!
Just gorgeous...!!!
Loved this review!!! Thank you for the video señor!!! ❤😊 You are the bestest!
I like the use of "scrunchy" vs "dischord" when describing some of the complicated sounds they make.
Just listening and learning from you always makes my day -- Awesome Reaction!
Kevin has such a sweet sound ❤
I really, really hope to see you react to pentatonix's - Aha! (Imogen Heap cover), absolutely perfect for Halloween and so, so good.
Lol... And the sun came out as Kirstie sang that beautiful major note ☀️ Nice, sweet, tender, endearing... They are sooooo good! Thank you for this lovely gift. You made my day. 🤗
Love your detail breakdown of chords!! Definitely enjoy the close harmonies in this one!!
Another amazing reaction. One of my favorites by them.
This one bring me to tears every time!
Love them ❤. Such a talented group of singers. Do check our their version of Sound of silence and Kiss from a rose. Prepare to be 🤯
I love this one!
So lovely, thank you! And it’s very nice to know that Sir Sun decided to visit Sir H lately☀😄☀
It was short-lived 🥲Has been raining for the past week straight, in the height of summer
Yay! I love this song so much; it was one of those that I couldn't wait for you to do. Thank you so much. Be well.
Gorgeous song, great reaction and awesome analysis. I don’t know anything about music, but I’m learning from you and you’re inspiring me to learn more.
I’m so happy that your patrons chose this song…it’s SO good ❤.
Every reactor I’ve seen has been a little teary. So lovely.
Midnight here!! Just have to listen, look, learn and enjoy.
Craftsmanship with words.
You are appreciated. Greetings from South Africa
They played this towards the end of their concert in Australia last year so beautiful gave me goosebumps.❤❤
Peace …
yay this is one of their best. so much to love
Might we look forward to you treating us to your singing? Please? 🙂
Thanks! 🎹
Unfortunately I don't still sing/perform (at least not professionally). Sir Hairless is really my only musical exposure these days, other than occasionally watching performances/concerts/gigs etc.
@@SirHairless I'm sure you'd have an audience here, if you felt like singing for us. 🙂
I love that you love PTX as much as us Pentaholics….we know exactly how you feel. ❤️ USA 🇺🇸
Another wonderful reaction! I think you would love their live (official video) cover of Silent Night from 9 years ago if you are doing Christmas in July. I think it is simply beautiful.
He did that one last December. 🙂
@@LindaVernon thanks. Don't know how I missed it.
@@tommieev5589 Well now you get to watch it. 🙂🙂
@@LindaVernon did so immediately
@@tommieev5589 👍
When you get around to Superfruit recordings, it'll be fun to watch you experience Mitch's register with Scott - and guests
Thanks!
Thank you Michele ❤️
Patients pays off at last, beautiful song and nicely done.❤
Thank you very much for this. My Heart With You is one of my top Pentatonix songs.
Loved your analysis. Fun to listen to this song.
⚡❣❣❣❣❣❣❣❣❣❣⚡
I knew this stunning version would be ear candy to you! Have waited so long for you to review this 😊
This is amazing in concert, not a sound in the place apart from these beautiful voices x

Thank you that was so nice!!! Have you heard Una Futiva Lagrima and or Somewhere both by David Phelps😊
Thanks! No I've not heard them
Please react to Amazing Grace. I love their take on it.
He has done Run to You -- a live version. 🙂
They usually DO sing the second verse, on the studio version and in the live concert performances I've seen. They must have decided they wanted a shorter version for this. I hadn't heard this version in a while and was startled at the skip. I thought for a second you had cut out the verse.
