A small change to my prediction: I think Serbia and Slovenia are too close together. So I would swap Slovenia and Azerbaijan, so that they are a little further apart
I was thinking exactly that when I was watching on Patreon
I don't think that's that much better as Slovenia and Sweden will probably clash too much. Both will probably have a dark staging and the songs are darker/cooler
I think what it means is that the three automatic qualifiers will perform live after all the participating countries have performed and not that they will be put in the middle of their performances

The latest information of the Windows95man staging is that it will be pretty much the same as in UMK. Or that's what is being prepared. We can also expect him to do something unexpected when the cameras are rolling...

Makes me wonder whether the producers are right now playing around with magnets like these, in frantic effort to decide the running order 😂 Anyway, hope Finland gets a good slot (and that people won't be angry if we get the final slot again - which I assumed would be the 15th, though - after all the options here are limited)!

About Finland's staging, W95M and Henri did an interview with Katri Norrlin from Ylex a few weeks ago and in it they said that the denim egg will stay. They are tweaking the performance but based on what they said I'd imagine it will be pretty similar to their UMK performance
So definitely the biggest prop, or one of the biggest 😂 So a break just before...?

I hate to say it but Ireland has big death slot energy for me. If Samo mi se spava wasn't weird enough not to be put early, I don't think Doomsday Blue is safe either.
It's not safe at all. I think there's a strong possibility of Ireland not qualifying. Even though I would be very disappointed by that. 😢
Samo mi se Spava was weird as a song but as a performance it was very mediocre, wasn't surprised it was put 3rd. Ireland if it's anything like the music video will be a lot more striking and engaging and if so I'd be a little surprised if it was put so early but we wont actually know as we only have the songs to go on and not the live performance.

I can definitely see the UK opening. A wee bit of narrative too of last years host (of course on behalf of Ukraine) opening up the first show

@@ESCTomI think the British TV audience is generally loyal enough to tune in all the way through regardless of where the UK act is placed in the show. Also, it's a semifinal, where viewership isn't the highest, so the EBU & SVT can afford to put the UK as the opener.
I think that the automatic qualifiers should fill first, second and third. I think that it would make it less confusing for non-euro fans and would be more fair for the countries that need to qualify.

I just hope they don't screw up Ireland. I love Doomsday Blue (not my fav, but still great and appreciate that Ireland is really taking a risk this year) and Bambie really deserve to get a lot of love and qualify because of this.
Bambie is such a standout that they could nearly place the song anywhere in the running order. I don't think it will be #1 or #2 though. It's so dark and alternative that it will surely come later.
I feel like the Swedish producers will have pretty good knowledge of the contest, and that Ireland has been having a lot of trouble lately. So they might realise that and give us a good spot
Also, I still think that Bambie could be favoured by the voting public in Finland, Iceland, Serbia because they appreciate harder darker music. Also UK and Germany might go for them too. Fingers crossed... but I am still ready for Ireland to fail to qualify again. 😢
I genuinely think Bambie closing the first half would be perfect. Both to give Ireland a break of getting shit placement, but also I genuinely think it would be a fantastic closer before the break, it would keep your attention right till the end

I remember SVT wanted a shorter show, so naturally the big 5 plus host perform in the semis which are the shorter shows 😂
I kind of hope that spots 1 2 3 are given to the automatic qualifiers to avoid any death spot controversy, but that seems outlandish
If 1.2.3 are given to the automatic qualifiers then 4 , 5, 6 become the new "death spots" , so no.
Cyprus opening was obvious til they announced the big5 news. Now I think it'll be the UK; its accessible plus last year's host and closing song opening would make a nice full circle.
I agree Australia would be a great closer! I'm apparently one of the few people that really likes it, but regardless I think it's got peak "we are the world" vibes that would work well in the last spot.
I worry that the Big 5 being thrown into the running order randomly will confuse people and could potentially have some effects on voting that we can't predict quite yet, but we shall see!
Thanks for considering Germany as a "big audience", but the semis are unfortunately broadcasted by a smaller tv station, so not that many people will see the semi (around half a million). One of the many problems here in Germany with Eurovision...

Yeah, this is hard 😀. What I can tell you is that Teya Dora will have her rock again, and she said it will be bigger than the one she had in NF. I don't know if they need a lot of time to install this rock on a stage, but if they do she will be right after the break... or before, don't know
Last year they had 7min break before Loreen's performance. Others had 3min for staging. This year it will be very difficult to get extra time for staging. Or maybe Marcus &Martinus will get extra break in GF before their performance 🤭

I feel like Croatia will open, and Cyprus will follow directly after them in 2nd. This feels like it matches the vibe we had in Semi 1 last year of having a big hitter starting things off, followed by a very different, but still upbeat song following it. Cyprus this year just doesn't feel big enough to open the whole contest, in my opinion. And that's a great draw for Croatia, because they're sailing through regardless of where they go and will probably ensure they get a 'nicer' position in the final.
I also have Finland closing - yes, they closed last year too, but I can't see any other of the entries in the second half closing, other than MAYBE Luxembourg, but that doesn't feel as impactful.
Even tho it's one of those songs that would easily qualify no matter what, there's 0 chance the producers will give the favorite(s) a bad running order spot
Yes I do agree with Cyprus not really being strong enough to start. I wonder if they might really mix things up and open with Ukraine too, who also are a safe Q
I don't believe there is any chance of Croatia opening. They want to keep people on their toes for most anticipated acts.
They didn't seem to care about colour clashing last year when they put Austria, Portugal and Switzerland back to back in the final

This year the running order is done by Christer Björkman. Colour clashing is what he cares about the most

Those magnets! My thoughts: UK, Ukraine, Cyprus, Germany, Poland, Lithuania Croatia, Serbia, Ireland, Moldova, Sweden Finland, Portugal, Australia, Azerbaijan, Iceland, Slovenia, Luxembourg. Put 2 of the Big Five in the first third and put a powerhouse in slot 2, also Luxembourg makes sense as a closer as a big thank you for rejoinning.
Very good start with Cyprus, for the start of part 2 I would consider the Uk and closing with Australia with their beautiful, strong message. Good luck for everyone !!!
I predict that they gonna open the semi with Lithuania. It's a strong song and the staging is already pretty obvious and polished ,while Croatia may be too messy to open the semi and Cyprus is too unsafe with the vocals and staging (even though they usually manage to stage their songs well) and I don't really see any other songs opening

That prediction mostly seems fine to me, but i just can't see Sweden letting Finland end the show in their year 😳. But Netherlands and Finland are surely separated as far from each other as possible so i doubt Finland will be very early in the second half. Also the two witchery songs probably will have distance.

do we know for sure that the big five will compete among normal entries? l would've assumed that they would show them after the competing acts so that it doesn't confuse the televoters as to why they can vote for serbia but not for sweden. kind of like what they had until now but instead of showing snippets they show the full performance + interviews to drive the point home but i'd really like seeing the big five among the rest of us peasants 😂

I wonder if they'd want to put the big three in 6th, 12th and 18th place, just before the breaks. I'd keep Croatia and Ireland separated because Ireland has elements of rock in it. Just as an aside, Poland is REALLY growing on me again. it's an earworm for sure. So my top 3 right overall this year, keep cycling between Poland, Austria and Croatia. I do think rim Tim Tagi Dim has great potential to win this year, and that would be amazing so Croatia would get the chance to host next year!
Imo Cyprus has no right to complain if they get put in first again, they need to diversify their entries a little bit. Like of course producers are gonna want to put the safe & inoffensive but competent pop girly in first

What I don’t understand is why can’t the big 5 countries perform at the end of everyone competing? They basically did that for the past previous years, except that it wasn’t live but a pre-recorded live version, why do they have to put them in the running order? It’s weird as they are not even competing..
i think because its useful for them to have 3 extra songs that they can use to break up any quarter which has too many similar songs

My prediction for the running order, mainly concerned with creating an interesting set list with decent ebb and flow. Some staging considerations considered (e.g. UK, Sweden), but that's definitely not my main concern. I'm going with one major break between the two halves of the show, perhaps there'll be a shorter break halfway through each half. It's funny how many parallels there are to Tom's prediction - I could only remember he placed Cyprus to open the show, too...

According to the rules suggested in a few other comments (add one point per place difference between predicted and actual running order, the best possible result would be 0 points for an exactly predicted running order), I've got 38 points. Not too shabby, especially because I managed to guess three countries' places in the running order correctly, which I'm happy about.
For fun (and because part of this prediction is guessing a sensible sequence of songs), I've also deducted points for two or more songs that I've guessed in the correct order (e.g. two songs in sequence = deduct one point, three songs in sequence = deduct two points, etc.) - with this model, the best possible result would be -17 points if the running order were predicted exactly as was announced. I've got two sets of two songs and one set of three songs in the right order, so deduct 1 + 1 + 2 = 4 points. Makes a result of 34 for me. I like it!
Ukraine also has a very high population and are one of the favourites so I expect them to be later, song wise I think Croatia opening is perfect but I wonder if they will do it as they are the favourite - although they put Norway 1st SF1 last year when they were the biggest favourite in the half. I think Luxembourg will be last as it is fun and has the narrative of the returning country while Finland and Australia might be too divisive, and they closed last year.
If we don't consider the automatic qualifiers my running order would be

Based on the ad breaks last year, they will probably break it into 4 then have the 3 automatic qualifiers perform between each subdivision (either before or after the ad break). I think they won't put the automatic qualifiers on inconsistent position - somewhere people will always know an automatic qualifier is to be expected to perform.

Would you think another way you could mitigate the 2nd place "death spot" is not necessarily to put a Big5 performance in that slot, but rather a Big Five performance right after it?

I really dont think that putting the Big Five&Sweden later in the show will necessarily as major of a voting deal as you think, given that voting will be open from the beginning of the show, right?
The voting is only open at the beginning of the show in the final, apart from the Rest of the World vote which will open 24 hrs before each of the live shows.
I'm not sure if the automatic qualifiers will get their numbers in running order since we won't be able to vote for them. So for me it's unnecessary.

the AQ performances are really throwing my prediction this year, i'm so intrigued to see how it'll work. i'd be very surprised to see them very close to the beginning or end though, i imagine theyll be evenly spaced through to break up the competing entries

Im Going to Do my Predictions for and If I remember, I will score myself by giving Myself 1 Point for Every position im off for 1 Country so For Example If I predict Slovenia to go 14th but they actually go 10th I am 4 Positions of so I get 4 Points and If I manage to get a Position Correct I will Take 1 Point of and I start with however many Points as there are entries competing. So In Semi-Final 1 I start with 18 Points because there are 15 Competing + the 3 Auto-Qualifiers making 18 Points. So that means the lowest Score I could Theoretically get is 0 but I would have to get every single one correct which Is highly unlikely. But I want to keep my score as low as Possible. The Lower the Score the Better I will also do this for Semi-Final 2.

I like my Running Order. We should Put this to the EBU. Not Sure how I feel about after the 2nd Break Everything Else I like The only major Problem with The First 12 is The 3 biggest Audiences are 5th, 7th and 9th. 'm not sure when all the Kids are going to bed and I think Ireland should go after bedtime. I did use the Auto Qualifiers and breaks as wild cards to put whenever I want and Seperate songs that might be to Similar. I may have Put the First Break a bit too early.

Do broadcasters care about previous running order spot for a particular country? As a Serb, i hate seeing us again at no.3....i want little later....also, Teya Dora said she is going to have a big stage, so maybe Eurovision has to commercial break because it's gonna take for a quite some time to set up the stage....i don't know 😂😂
I think Martin does as he has to deal with the delegations. But the broadcaster producers, I reckon it changes year to year

When it comes to big props, my working assumption is that they'd be better after an ad break than before because presumably it takes longer to set up, what with ensuring everything is in the right place, than rolling them off stage. I'd also separate all songs in native language, so no Lithuania before/after Ukraine. I'd be bold and put Ukraine 2nd, they're gonna qualify no matter what, and we need to put an end to the "death slot" myth. (Despite, number 3 is actually the worst slot in the semi final, not number 2)
