Tom, I said this last year! RTE need to employ you as their top expert/commentator like the BBC use various famous fans throughout the Eurovision season. You’re a natural.
as usual, one of the best Eurovision analysts out there. hopefully BBC or RTE will hire you as an analyst/colour commentator alongside Graham Norton/Scott/Rylan (BBC) or Marty Whelan (RTE). it's time for Eurovision commentaries to be more similar to football/soccer commentaries; even though some countries/broadcasters already do that (notably Sweden's SVT with Edward and Mans), there is almost no clear distinction, which one was the play-by-play and which one was the analyst/pundit.
Graham and Rylan are great for the lighted hearted commentaries but a second option if people want a bit more depth would be a great addition.

Though I usually ignore commentaries myself, entirely unnecessary IMO 😅 (I usually know more about the entries than the commentators anyway...)

I’m absolutely voting Serbia, it’s one of my favourites this year and it’s in big trouble being a ballad so early in the running order and no jury votes in the semi. can only hope it pulls through but I think it may not 😢

Although ive neen trying so hard to avoid any big spoilers for Eurovision performances, ive seen a few of the performance clips and i have to admit, i agree with your commentary. Particularly Australia, Iceland & Finland.
Keep up the good work but make sure you rest up well too Tom! Looking forward to your reactions on the qualifiers. I'll be getting home at 9.30pm tonight (UK time) so will hold on to see the results instead of watching the entire show.

Bambie Thug was superb, but the unexpected 'malfunctioning' of the candle circle during the jury show was HIGHLY, HIGHLY suspicious. I hope there are some very serious questions being asked tonight behind the scenes in Malmö.
I'm so glad that this shouldn't affect the actual show (except maybe the voting of San Marino). We should absolutely be asking some questions and if this happens AGAIN she NEEDS to be allowed to repeat!

I appreciate your perspective on Finland 🇫🇮 and Windows 95 Man. Given the abundance of talented artists in this Eurovision edition, I am not sure if it will emerge in the top 15. Still, I find watching Windows 95 Man enjoyable, even though the revealing outfits might be a bit much.😊

I think it is also interesting how W95M challenges our perceptions of what is OK with revealing outfits. There are very few comments about the Spanish male dancers with their bare butt cheeks, or other artists with suggested nudity, or indeed women's skimpy clothing. No rules really breaks the rule that you need to be a female or a male with a six-pack wearing underpants. A middle-aged dad can also do it and it starts a conversation about what is and is not acceptable. I guess Let3 showed the way last year. It will be a fun show regardless! Can't wait...
Yeah, people are so biased - the entry actually has much less "revealing outfits" than most female singers *every year,* and yet that's what many choose to focus on... 🙄 Oh well, hope they'll show to all the haters out there!!!

@@KevinWWSP Teemu Keisteri is actually a visual artist and has an art gallery in Helsinki. He is also a DJ. Henri (the lead singer) is a vocal artist and plays in a band among other things. He has worked on a lot of films, including dubbing animation films in Finnish (such as Paw Patrol). He started working as a voice artist at the age of 4! They will bring a lot of laughter and winning here is not the aim of the game - just lighthearted fun with a message about body positivity. 😁
You can call it Yidaki Digeridoo, Joining the two languages and people together, that way people know and understand what you are talking about. We will have a play around wit that. Yidaki, Didgeridoo, Yidaki Digeridoo, Didgeridoo, Yidaki. Its very rythmic and goes together. Australia and Australians are accepting, we are still happy with them and Celebrating One life. Still wait and see for the peformance.

Was at the Jury show last night, can confirm Bami KILLED that stage. Here’s the T - I didn’t like Doomsday Blue, I was totally converted by the end of their performance! Baby Lasagna was on point! Was worth the entire trip for me. Isaak really surprised me with his performance. The staging was great and the power he gave was spectacular!

It will be an interesting show. For sure the 'borderline' songs have to perform to perfection in order to get to the final.

I watched it in full and I agree with you for the most part. For me I struggled to understand what the theme and narrative for Ukraine’s staging was, it felt to me that they brainstormed a lot of very nice visuals and cobbled them together with no connecting thread. And I wasn’t that hot on Germany, a bunch of fiery walls doesn’t make an otherwise bland performance interesting.
its beautiful ( except the rap) and it's apparently another reference to the war, with it being an appeal to Holy Mary and Saint Mother Teresa for aid..

It's been so sad how much hate (from fan bubble) the entry has got 😔 You mentioned a big drop of energy on the 2nd half, but there *is* Finland, who kind of carries the whole 2nd half on its shoulders 😅 (Apart from AQ Sweden.) Anyway, love how you said Finland's show "looks expensive", that's really promising! :)

@@ESCTom Back here to say that no, I didn't feel much loss of energy on the 2nd half of the show, it didn't feel flat to me, but then admittedly the part where my country's performing always has my heartrate up to about 200, so there is that 😉

I agree with you. I did see the dress rehearsal and I think the first half is definitely stronger. I'd say Serbia and Cyprus are the most in danger still. In the second half it is Finland, Portugal and Luxemburg going through I think. And I'd like to for Slovenia and Australia to grab a spot from the first half. I still think they have weaker staging, but I like the songs more than Serbia and Cyprus and I think if someone is gonna grab the spots it's likely those two.

I already voted as part of the Rest Of the World vote. I voted for Ireland 6 times, Ukraine and Slovenia 5 times, Azerbaijian 4 times, and Lithuania 1 time. If you vote on the website you get a message from your most voted artist.
I wont address individual tastes in music, but you really should educate yourself in some depth about the atrocities Azerbaijan has been committing in starving out and then ethnically cleansing Artsakh (aka Nagorno Karabakh), including the wholesale destruciton of sites that have been Armenian in culture/settling for centuries, if not a millenium. ANcient churches being obliterated.. that sort of thing. It would have been more major international news except everyone is glued to Gaza and Ukraine.

As a dual Brit/Irish person I’m absolutely beside myself with both Bambi and Olly. Remember The Late Late Show Song for Ireland and the audience went nuts but the comments on social media were so cruel? I said at the time that Ireland were back!!! Dodged the predictable boy band/ ballad, Ireland!! The witch will win the semi no problem.

Please don’t parrot this nonsense line that because the bookies are based in Ireland and UK that’s the reason they are so high up.
1. It devalues the artist and their talents.
2. Bookies is a profit making business not a support your own country system. In the World Cup Ireland is not higher placed because the bookies are based there - it’s done on talent of the team ( or less talent on this case).

I'll be voting for Serbia and Slovenia this year along with Ireland, Ukraine, Croatia, Lithunia and Portugal maybe Australia too.
I think Slovenia is going to have super hard time as it is compared to Bambie Thug performance just couple of songs before it. Bambie Thug shows how you should do the whole witchy vibes and Slovenia seems quite boring after that. I probably vote for Bambie because of the show (it's pure art!) even though I hate the song 😂

I feel kind of the opposite about 🇨🇾 already wasnt crazy about the song. The color palette is pretty. I always root for the teens but I dont understand what they did to the dance break, it looks so goofy to me. I think the choreo from the pre parties was better even😭. I predict 🇨🇾 to NQ cuz that 1st half is just too damn strong

Then the stage lit back up and the video transitioned to Jerry walking towards Alyona. I expect it will look amazing on TV, but in the arena, it's extremely angle-specific.

Judged on preference, order, rehearsals, I expect: Lithuania, Ireland, Ukraine, Poland, Croatia, then Slovenia, Finland, Australia, Portugal and Luxembourg to Q.
I personally like Moldova a lot, very good vocals, but I don't think it will do much because of the 'dull' performance

After seeing full jury show performances tonight I am quite sure that Croatia will be the WINNER of ESC 2024-my 20 votes from Kosovo as Rest of the World will go for Croatia in the finals this year -would love to see Ireland in top 10 as well

To me the only sure qualifiers are: Cro, Ukr, Lith, Cyp & Ire. Sure NQ are Australia (sadly), Aze, Mol, Ice. All the rest will fight for the remaining spots.
