It is ok. What do you think about the chance/risk of Israel winning.
I think I have two situations that seems to indicate this. One is the leaked televotes of the Italian televotes. The other was that I read Aftonbladet, the biggest newspaper in Sweden, and there they had a voting for the one you liked the most. Israel won by the same margins as Italies number. I mean a massive margin.
I like Israels song and it is beautiful. But this margin is not realistic. So it has to be other things like mostly against the protesters I think.
All this problems with the televotes could be so easily solved if we had ranked voting. To choose your three best songs as 1 2 and 3. This makes every person a jury and not this strange way of voting.

Biggest shock qualifier in a long time, that's for sure, but very happy Latvia and Georgia broke the NQ streak. I'm obviously completely bummed out because Belgium messed it up, I feel so sad for Mustii right now...

He messed it up regarding the stage and performance. But vocally it was very good. Sure it was not perfect, but compare that to a lot of the artist that got to the final. With this he would never win but he sure as h… deserve to reach the final.
There is no shit hitting the fan yet though. But it may happen since the teleovotes in the final may go heavily in one direction.

The edginess, rasp, and angst that the song required - and is delivered in spades in the music video - was completely absent in the show, unfortunately. Yes, she improved her live vocals A LOT. But the soul wasn't there.

Yeah I liked them as well, probably one of the best. Much better than a bunch of songs who did pass (especially the Netherlands, I really do not understand the hype, the song is awful)

To me Latvia was strongest of "traditional" songs and I was perplexed by it's bad reception.

Latvia was shocking, I predicted it last, but in this SF, literally ever song could've qualified. I thought SF1 was harder to predict, but SF2 is another level. Anyways, I got 9/10 in my predictions again (just like SF1). I thought Belgium would've qualified (from 9th place) and this is my only mistake.

I love that Eurovision is used to make bold statements about the state of our world, and to educate us about different cultures and ways of being, but in the end it's a song contest and prefer if the best song wins on its own merits, fair and square.
I’m really sad for Czechia as Aiko was my winner of this semi final, I’m sad about these qualifiers too but in my opinion they should’ve saved Latvia for last it would’ve been even more of a surprise over Belgium Czechia and San Marino 😂😂

I was QUAKING when Latvia were called!!! What a curveball! Nobody expected it.....and i mean that i dont even think Dons expected it! What a result for Latvia! Theyve had such a bad time at Eurovision lately so this was a reward for all their recent woes!
Soooooo happy that Austria got through! But i was gutted for Malta. They seriously had one of the biggest glow ups from the national final performance to now!
The only other surprise was Belgium crashing out.
Not surprised that Israel made it through though. The song itsself isnt bad (it doesnt interest me though), but those who want to support them will do so in their droves, just to ensure they get through.
Bummed that my Belgium's Mustii didn't make it.. it's such a good song but it's been a struggle. Still proud of him, he did his best and his performance was good, in my opinion.
I think that's the first time in a while I've actively cared about the song that was called last. That said, if anyone can take that tense situation with a smile, it's Jako haha. Perhaps that's why they did it.

They had to call my favourite two in each semi during the last 3 😂 They love to make me stressed AF. So happy for Armenia, Switzerland, Georgia and Latvia. Sad for Czechia and San Marino.
I thought Belgium where robbed. They had a terrible stage show because it did not reflect the song at all and was kind of nothing. He should have been more soul searching and introspective in his scenography. But still it does not matter. It should have gone through easily.

@@DarkFlareGC I am much more audio and vocally oriented. This was not fair by any means. Estonia and Latvia is for me songs that can only do well in Eurovision and no where else.

I avoided all spoilers and previews of staging and things of that nature because I wanted to be as objective as possible when we got to the semis. When I saw Belgium's staging, I did not think it had a chance. It felt all wrong. Wouldn't be shocked if it came 12th or 11th even, but I just did not see a path.

I was also gobsmacked Latvia made it through. Not because it's a bad song, it's quite pleasant to listen to and he's got a good voice, but I just didn't think this was a year where that would be rewarded.
The Latvian and Israel was suprising to say the least..... Latvia because of the staging and Israel..... well.... i dont need to say why. The Netherlands want to back out because of Israel..... well I respect it.

Me too, I had it joint first, but being honest he flunked it.
It was uncomfortable to watch as he was so nervous and he was ahead of the beat the whole way.
This was offset by another favourite of mine, Latvia, flipping the bird to everyone in sight and sailing through on pure merit

The Italy incomplete voting results thing is probably one of the biggest scandals in this season.
But I don’t think it was the true results since Norway was shown as in last and Albania in 3rd which just wouldn’t happen
No, those weren't the true results, Russia hacked something and probably changed the outcome, because they believe that it would raise Israel's chances of winning and its victory would divide Europe, which is exactly what Russia wants.
Those "results" cannot be true in any shape or form, yes. Though Norway might have major appeal only to Northern part of Europe, that much is true, but not dead last, no.

She was amazing. Her glow up as a performer and her performance from.the national finals was beyond imaginable. I didnt care for the song initially, but her performance literally slayed and I was so invested. Plus my friend was her makeup artist at Eurovision so I had to give them a few votes just for that too 😂
Shocked she didn't get through but she will walk away with so much more experience and artistic merit. I'm sure she'll go on to bigger things going forward.

Just on San Marino Tom. I actually backed them to qualify but her vocals were simply not up to that high quality semi final standard. The country whose name shall not be spoken, had a a great vocal performance and I am not surprised that Italy gave her the 12 points.

True, after seeing the rehearsals, I put them back in as qualifiers, because her vocals were so much better than at the preparties. And that staging was so good… alas. But Malta not qualifying really broke my heart 🇲🇹💔
I honestly strongly disagree with Greece, because it wss weak performance... she apparently doesnt know how to hold a microphone. Hervocals were very iffy. I do like the *song* though

Who voted for Latvia? There’s a massive population of conservative 50-year-olds who enjoy a calm ballad with excellent vocals (they don’t like flashing lights, hard dancing and fire). For them Latvia was #1. I think that in the final juries will place latvia top 5 because of vocals and because of that overall Latvia will end up close to top 10.

I watched with my parents and can confirm they liked all the more old-school or conventional songs that didn't qualify (Iceland, Denmark, Australia...) - but they didn't vote at all

They've existed in various copycat version for decades and decades.

What are you talking about? Her hair was done this way specifically based on the theme of the song. She depicts a woman howling against fire and a woman who is trying to extinguish the world fire with the help of love and where you need to put out the fire you need water but on stage this is impossible so they gave the hair a feeling of wetness and the visualization turned out perfect. I see you didn’t listen to the song and didn’t catch the main message of this song...
But the strange hair is a vote loser.

I would be really happy for Croatia if they won, I want them to win at some point, but I feel like if they win tomorrow their victory will not feel 100% genuine 😕 I know a lot of people feel forced to vote for Croatia now, just so Israel won't win and that's now how Eurovision is supposed to work. Now, after everything that's going on, from the leaked televote results (which has never happened before, and just "happened" to occur in the semi where Israel was competing and apparently got a good result) to Joost's possible disqualification... I wish Israel would have just stayed at home this year instead of ruining the contest for everyone else.

You know, maybe that would have been better, but there was also another way of dealing with it. For example not constantly pushing people into boycotting and maybe also being decent and not booing while a contestant performs. Maybe also not spreading hate. Good job everyone who frequently complained about Israel taking part in ESC. Now people will vote for her out of spite.
Yes, Israel should have stayed home, instead of ruining everything for everyone, not just for Joost and the fans, but for they're own representative as well, I mean who wants to get booed constantly, that's also not a great experience for her. Maybe he showed her and her dancers footage from Gaza, and apparently, Israel doesn't want their representative to learn about the truth and to start questioning their government's behavior.
It's not Israel ruining the contest. People are ruining the contest for themselves. If everyone acted civil as they should there would be no problems. Eurovision is supposed to be something that unites people by music and allows people to celebrate diversity. Instead, what we get is people causing chaos in Malmo and trying to ruin ordinary people's day who just want to enjoy the contest and music. Eurovision is not a place for it and people should keep it in themselves.

It's just some speculation, but couldn't it be the case that Latvia, Israel, Slovenia and maybe Austria profited from the fact that they came before or after Big 5 countries, which means that some idiots actually wanted to vote for Germany, Spain, Italy, and probably for France as well, which could have put them over the edge. Maybe it had just a minor impact, and I'm glad that Latvia and Slovenia have qualified, and as an Austrian, I feel delighted and relieved that we made it through, but still.

I loved loved loved Czechia, but Estonia was incredibly fun (non-ESC fans I know adored it) and Latvia was vocally perfect and very moving
