I’m on ps5 so mind you recoil is a bit harder, but if you had to guess what’s your picks? I prefer stubby grip and heavy barrel, however that first shot recoil is nasty and the vertical recoil from the heavy barrel only makes it worse. Thoughts?
Just a heads up. Due to the way movespread is calculated based on min spread. Heavy barrel actually gives a slightly greater movespread buff than ergo, so combining it with ergo ends up giving you movespread on par with just standing still. For LMGs that's a difference between .9 degrees and .3
For each of the assault rifles you effectively have 2 options heavy barrel or compensator on all of those that fire more than 800rpm its mathematically better to use compensator assuming you properly burst fire at range. For the pdw and carbines your only option is heavy barrel because they are much less accurate. The suppressor is only useful if you are playing a map with vehicles and need to make it harder for them to find you. The grips are basically stubby only unless the gun is very slow firing then ergo can be better.
The vertical grip is far more useful than the stubby grip. 99% of players move 99% of the time while shooting. The much lower minimum spread in the first place is better than slowing down spread increase as you shoot. The amount the stubby slows it down requires burst dozens of rounds long to notice any significant difference. This is why I put a vertical grip on every automatic gun, and a heavy barrel if the recoil is under 0.3. Otherwise, it's comp, flash hider, or suppressor depending on the situation.
This is not correct even tho most people move most of the time that does not mean ergo is always better simply because at some point usually only a couple shots the lower spread decrease of the stubby outweights the lower initial spread from ergo.
I'd have to disagree despite being a huge advocate for the ergo situationally. The stubby and ergo reduce there respective spread by a percentage from the value of the gun, and different guns have different penalties, and ways you want to be firing them. Having high mobility is very important in this game but so it having great aim, and maximizing your precision when you need it seriously stretches the range on some guns. Ergo is fun but doesn't actually do much for smgs as their movement penalty is already low, and the high spread of their first shot base is already more penalty than the movement is, so stubby is generally much better as a choice for more aggression, though the angled works great on the higher dps per shot smgs if you're squeezing out some long range kills. The ergo is respectable on ARs and I could go into length as the why ergo+heavy is the only correct option for the an94, but the damage drop off+bullet speed and low spread means you kinda want to be placing your shots at long range with most ars instead of just giving up on engagements, ergo gives up huge potential for solving problems at distance or tight angles. I have started using ergo on all my dmrs now though, as the recoil doesn't bother me with any of them, and it does work well for SOME lmgs to where you can really crunch some numbers on them and find that some really do benefit most from it, but they all have very high spread increase on full auto making stubby generally both a safe and sometimes the clear winner for lmgs. It's a waste on carbines that don't have as high as a movement penalty but do suffer moderately significant full auto penalties, hbar and stubby seem like the clear winner on most carbines and I couldn't be convinced the ergo is the right choice, with weapons like to groza seriously being held back by the attachment limitations. Generally I'm always an hbar guy on *mostly* everything but am moving away in some instances, the high precision and just overal greater agency and potential makes it a clear choice on MOST guns. Things like the ScarH and p90 are outliers, as it turns out using hbar on the Scar is gratuitous when you should be tap firing now to reset the deviation anyway, the hbar doesn't really give much benefit until ranges that the damage drop off makes the gun poor anyway, the recoil may not be worth the hassle for a placebo of a benefit. The p90 and a few others have very high horizontal recoil, which is basically just spread that you can't learn (on most guns), so the compensator is actually the correct choice for it (almost want to throw up saying that).
@@thezombiepotato1 First of all, look up what paragraphs are. Second, the vertical grip and ergo grip are the exact same attachment, they just look different. Third, the stubby spread reduction is far too small to be practical with most weapons. Another UA-camr already did the calculations back in 2016 (ua-cam.com/video/7fkv-A8J6Uo/v-deo.htmlsi=qaljrStA13MnFzvS), showing that you would need to shoot dozens of rounds without letting go of the trigger for the spread decrease rate to amount to anything significant. This means it only has a significant effect after just dumping LMG belts, in which case you should just be using a bipod. Use basic trigger control/bursting. As for the heavy barrel, it's only practical on weapons with low horizontal recoil. Weapons like the AK5C, CBJ-MS, SAR-21, G36, etc. which are basically laser beams. This is because the increased accuracy is nullified by the fact you'd be missing shots from its big recoil multiplier. Thus, faster RPM, higher recoil weapons like the ACWR, P90, FAMAS, AEK, MTAR, etc. should be used with the compensator to reduce horizontal recoil for closer ranges. In which case, a suppressor is also a good compromise. A good rule is under 750 RPM use a heavy barrel, 750+ RPM use a compensator. Muzzle break is useless on PC, pull down on your mouse. As for angled grip, that's basically a DMR and burst-fire weapon attachment, due to the vertical grip being so much more beneficial in most situations. If you feel the need to use an angled grip, you're using the wrong gun for the situation. (likely a high rpm, high recoil gun at 50+ yards).

Like you said, attachments are playstyle dependent, and if you strafe/move a lot whilst shooting, ergo/vertical grip sometimes outweigh the benefits of stubby grip. You said it perfectly dude, some weapons do very well with specific playstyle/attachment setups, can even be worth changing attachments based on the map, but for me I aim for, accuracy at all ranges. 2042 will be cool in the way of changing attachments on the fly.

I can easily see your guides topping the search results with your clear, concise, and organized approach to video structuring. Your guides are literaly one of the bests out there, you go into the most important things and do it in a way thats easy to understand. I also never saw such a complete scout heli guide like yours.
This was an excellent video, so please keep it up. I hopped back on b4, despite previously hating the games gun mechanics, bc I was excited for 2042. Your videos have helped me to understand how the game works and how to fly helis. Watching you and other UA-camrs has made me into a pretty good player in a pretty short amount of time. I hope you continue to release good content like this and I’m excited for your 2042 videos!
Man it feels like most really good BF4 players are snobs who look down on noobs and new players, I really like your approach. It feels like a teacher who genuinely wants to see his students improve.
I am guilty of this but sometimes ego gets to your head, especially when you grow good at something, but a good player accepts that there is always better and always more to learn, I just remembered that I wished I got more help when I started sometimes.
Quite interesting that there's so much depth to attachments. I guess they're sorely misunderstood, and it is clear that you've done a large amount of research in presenting this. I've learned a thing or two, and I thank you for that. Great job, and I hope to see videos of similar nature when in comes to BF2042, should you decide that's the type of content you'd enjoy making, as that's what matters most.
Hello, good video! I want to point out two technicalities you did not mention but is of great value: 1) The spread in the spread circle is not randomly distributed over the area of the circle, but rather uniformly over the radius. This means it is more likely for the spread value to be closer to the middle of the circle compared to if it was distributed evenly over the area. Basically, spread definetly a number to care about, but is a bit less crazy than you'd initially assume. 2) While vertical recoil is predefined and can be learned via muscle memory (so muzzle break is never worth it), horizontal recoil is random (like a random walk within the weapon specific integers for HRecoil) For some weapons (e.g. AEK) this means, Compensator+Stubby grip is beneficial for the first x bullets. I Monte-Carlo simulated the AEK, Comp+Stubby beat just stubby within the first let's say 10 shots for horizontal deviation (I looked at that attribute, because missed shots usually feel missed to the side of a target, not over their head. It's also debatable what height of the enemy target people usually aim at, but aiming for the horizontal middle of a target can't be argued with.) The downside of switching to a compensator is that you have to unlearn the average HRecoil pattern that you are used to :D Long Barrel + Stubby was also better than just stubby, but you mentioned the crazy 1st Shot recoil yourself... it would take a long time of training for a small upside. Anyway, your video gives a good overview and I agree with most of the examples for weapon setups!
I personally like to eliminate variables which is why I run stubby only on most guns no barrel attachments, except for the scar, I run the angled grip because that first shot recoil multiplier is a bitch.
I like using flash hider on guns i know well, because if i can control it, it gives me that extra edge of people not seeing where im shooting from the first 0.2 sec.
Unrelated to the topic of the video, but I've been playing BF4 since launch, and I've used DMRs quite extensively. After the first CTE patch, which eliminated the visual recoil, I feel like they were very powerful (accurate, high damage at range). But after the big patch that changed all the weapon stats (either Spring or Summer patch, not sure), I've noticed they're far less accurate than they used to be (literally, I'm more accurate with an LMG), to the point where I think the accuracy on DMRs may be bugged. Do yo have any knowledge about that? PS: This is a very good guide, I'll definitely be trying the combinations from this video.
Your channel is great and this info is indeed very valuable. I finally managed to make proper use of the AEK when equipped it with the compensatior and vertical/ergo grip. *still changed it to the UGL rail with GP30 grenade launcher and suppressor because it looks cool 😂*
One small detail to add is the bipod has an extra functionally. Whenever you're in a vehicle its automatically deployed. So if your riding in a scout or transport, you can become a door-gunner (particularly potent with an lmg). You can also have a lot of fun seat swapping on the quad/bike and beam people from across the map, then switch to driver seat. Very fun hit and run!
I've been playing battlefield 4 for years and I never noticed the spread, I used just put whatever I unlocked last on the weapon and go but now I put the heavy barrel and potato grip (don't eat it) on all weapons. This information should be available in game for players to learn 😕
No it shouldn't be. BF4 was one of the last games that actually required people to play and play and learn the secrets of mechanics through experience. Too many games now explain everything and the skill gap gets reduced. Sick of devs punishing the highest skill players by reducing the need for deep understanding of core dynamics.
Personally I love bipods, they're my go to, the set up is quick enough and I've gotten used to aiming and moving while people are right up on me so I don't die while deploying lol, but I play weapons based on faction and attachments based on map, bipods for mid to long range combat (bonus points for Locker/Metro sense I can set up at a chokepoint and become defense), stubby/angled/vertical grip for close range.
Could you give a basic overview of BF1 or BFV seeing as they're free or will be on twitch prime? Couldn't find anything relevant recently of these games. Loved your other videos about BF4, would appreciate these.
I'm really sorry dude I most likely won't be going for BF1 or BF5 content, its never a set of games I really enjoyed and considering the release of 2042 i most likely wont be going back to those games :/
@@x8reaps understandable honestly, BF1 feels so different to play. Maybe a shotgun attachment explanation? The attachments could have hidden stuff like the flash hider that isn't shown explicitly in game.
Been playing around with the M16A4 with Muz-Break and Stub. gets rid of the recoil but turns it into a spread gun. Which is fine. I prefer to still see my target.
I think describing recoil as linear and comparing it to others games that have recoil patterns; where the recoil follows a more complex pattern such as CS or Valorant. The tutorial is high quality and I'm glad to see it.
For the M416 I use Stubby + Heavy Barrel because its a gun that doesn't have much first shot recoil and overrall its recoil is quite minimal. For the ACE-23 I use Angled + Heavy Barrel but sometimes just Stubby, torn between those 2 setups atm.
I know its an old video but i just have to say, i absolutely hate bullet spread as an automatic penalty. I think making recoil much harder and somewhat random, so that taking standing shots at 25 meters is difficult and beyond 50 damn near impossible is a much better idea to keep automatic rifles from being laserbeams in all circumstances. I think spread should be applied to snipers (.75-1.25moa) and dmrs (1.75-2.75moa) and varied depending on muzzle velocity and damage. I also think tge damage should be much higher but with heavy nerfs to mobility (like eyebox being mostly blacked out and much much higher sway when moving and aiming) to make sniping more challenging and also more rewarding. Maybe limiting scope attachments woulf make it easier to balance snipers as a whole for battlefield style games
Very informative video. I have playing BF4 for last 4 years, but never noticed about spread. I though noticed horizontal recoil on few gun. Will appreciate if you recommend some attachments for M16A4 and AN-94 and M4 in burst mode
Maybe it's just me or maybe console is completely different, but from TONS of experience I have found that I'm essentially playing against lag, and nothing more. When they lag is going your way, no one can shoot you and your enemies go down quick - but when the lag is going against you, every single bullet will hit you, enormous suppression exists even when no one is shooting your direction, and when you go to shoot someone else the screen will begin to freeze-up and all kinds of other glitch-mania takes place.
I regret not mentioning this as I straight up forgot to but, I tested this a lot and in complete HONESTY i never noticed a difference with it, so I recommend not using angled on burst weapons personally.
Well from my experience on the gun Its extremely similar to the SCAR-H but with less first shot recoil and higher rate of fire. I personally use the same loadout as the SCAR-H on the ACE-23 but you can get away with using hbar and stubby on it as well, I just feel more consistent, basically i go through 4 loadout pre-sets on all my guns: 1. Stubby Only 2. Stubby and Heavy Barrel 3. Angled and Heavy Barrel 4. Compensator and Stubby
if only we could all get 700 FPS and almost 0 input lag. hopefully in 2042 DICE shows all the statistics of weapons and attachments with actual numbers and not just this bars like they have been doing forever.
Its the same principal dude, those attachments work the same as they would on any gun so for example, heavy barrel on an SKS would mean the first shot you do will be very accurate but the recoil from it per shot will be much worse and you will be able to group more shots from the less spread, it works the same way its just a single fire weapon.
@@x8reaps So I assume, as you try to be very accurate with DMRs, Heavy barrel is a must? How long do you have to wait between shots until the second one is counted as a "first shot" again?
@@kev.kaviation1751 either by how well u can control the recoil between the shots or how long it takes for the shot to reset, its hard to tell and it depends on the weapon

It's much more forgiving with an angled grip. But if you are absolutely accurate, the stubby, heavy barrel scar H is the most potent gun in the game for dps at the most common engagement ranges. Draw back is you must be a beamer.
@@EnkeiTenjin hbar stubby is bad on the scar because the hbar in particular combined with the high recoil and high FSRM makes it very difficult to aim at range. to be honest i don't know why he recommended hbar angled as the angled grip doesnt cancel out the hbar's penalty and it comes with the spread increase penalty. hbar angled is the worst of both worlds. stubby nothing is best for the scar and pretty much any viable weapon, except for the burst weapons and L85
@@pk-zi7lm Late reply but I mean may as well lol, the stubby alone is definitely not a bad choice for the scar-h like I said in the video its preference. But the reason why i use hbar+angled and not just stubby is because heavy barrel makes the first set of shots have basically half of all the spread, meaning my first shots will be very accurate, since the scar-h has a very low rate of fire I feel this is overall better for it because the spread growth is slower, the angled is to cancel out some of the added first shot recoil from hbar, I have used stubby alone before on the scar-h and it works great, but something about angled+hbar to me just feels more accurate and consistent for all the ranges personally. And just to note I use this gun by burst firing 2-3 shots at a time, I rarely ever full auto it.
Pretty useful stuff actually, but babe... what about shotgun? Real shit though I’m a new player and this helped me contextualise some of the stuff I’ve learned from playing, testing and sym, I’d be keen to see more if you’re keen to do more
@@EnkeiTenjin (pump) shotguns are balanced and are skill cannons. they punish bad aim and reward good aim. however, they have definite drawbacks: -Fighting multiple opponents -Worthless at range (and the most viable secondary for a shotgun, the .44, is only slightly less worthless at range) -Worthless if the target is partially behind cover -As said previously, worthless if you can't land your first shot consistently -RNG dependent; shotgun pellets for the purposes of spread are treated as 1 "bullet". as spread goes up the dispersion of the pellets does not increase, but the chances that all of them completely whiff even though your aim was fine does. the dispersion of the pellets is affected by the chokes. in all of those areas an assault rifle or carbine even would perform better. if you can't punish a shotgun user's missed shot then that's not shotguns being OP, that's you being bad. on close quarters infy maps pump shotguns require a lot of skill to use effectively, arguably requiring the user to know how to play the game more than someone using an AEK or ACE 23. on larger more open maps they are bad as while they are okay for defending/capping a point, they are completely useless at range. i strongly recommend watching Marbleduck's video on shotguns, as he goes far more in depth than I ever could. (semi auto shotguns on the other hand, are completely broken as the fire rate negates all of a pump shotgun's drawbacks. but pump shotguns are balanced and skill cannons.)
tbh I never really used the mx4, but when in doubt, stubby only always, If u feel u can manage the recoil with heavy barrel then u can use it, make sure bursting is also consistent.

no barrel and stubby grip. FSRM is too high for hbar, comp (outside of famas)/muzzle brake/angled grip/flash hider/suppressor are useless. ergo grip is good but only in a few situations
Because it increases the recoils magnitude a lot, adding that on top of the first shot recoil makes burst firing far more inconsistent due to the massive first shot overrall recoil in combination with both, and in Battlefield 4 I find burst firing to be the most crucial thing, although some people do like using hbar and everything.
@@x8reaps I get ya it just throws the consistency of longer range shots out the window where you could still hit long range shots but not in all occasions

Thank you very much this is very nice of you to say, I hope all goes well for 2042.
:(
Your guides are literaly one of the bests out there, you go into the most important things and do it in a way thats easy to understand. I also never saw such a complete scout heli guide like yours.
Thank you
This was an excellent video, so please keep it up.
It feels like a teacher who genuinely
wants to see his students improve.
I want to point out two technicalities you did not mention but is of great value:
1) The spread in the spread circle is not randomly distributed over the area of the circle, but rather uniformly over the radius. This means it is more likely for the spread value to be closer to the middle of the circle compared to if it was distributed evenly over the area. Basically, spread definetly a number to care about, but is a bit less crazy than you'd initially assume.
2) While vertical recoil is predefined and can be learned via muscle memory (so muzzle break is never worth it), horizontal recoil is random (like a random walk within the weapon specific integers for HRecoil)
For some weapons (e.g.
It's also debatable what height of the enemy target people usually aim at, but aiming for the horizontal middle of a target can't be argued with.)
The downside of switching to a compensator is that you have to unlearn the average HRecoil pattern that you are used to :D
Long Barrel + Stubby was also better than just stubby, but you mentioned the crazy 1st Shot recoil yourself... it would take a long time of training for a small upside.
Anyway, your video gives a good overview and I agree with most of the examples for weapon setups!
thank you man, i was looking for this, nice video.
actually downloaded bf4 after YEAAARS again and i love it!! thanks for this vid
absolutely amazing video! Explained everything!
It's always a good day when reaper uploads plus I see you put effort in your thumbnails.
I mean.... I didn't really I just picked a part of the video lmao I need to learn photoshop xd
Hey Reapz, I just made a little bird guide and wanted your opinion on it. After all, you're the best pilot I've ever watched.
Ill be sure to take a look at this when I can bro and ill give u feedback here on it
@@x8reaps Awesome man, thank you! your opinion means a lot
Great video mate, its interesting seeing this from the perspective of a console player, but worth watching especially if your a console pilot.
@@x8reaps Thanks man, means a lot. You’re the OG
Very informative for a first time bf4 player.
I personally like to eliminate variables which is why I run stubby only on most guns no barrel attachments, except for the scar, I run the angled grip because that first shot recoil multiplier is a bitch.
I like using flash hider on guns i know well, because if i can control it, it gives me that extra edge of people not seeing where im shooting from the first 0.2 sec.
this was very helpful reapz. i really enjoy this kind of content
Great video. Keep them coming. Thanks.
I would be curious if spread decrease was more important in actual gunfights where you are being shot at because of suppression.
I have noticed dmrs have been nerfed
Great vid mate, well done.
Really nice guide!
Well explained and illustrated, noice.
And I like the fact that you explained the differents recoil mechanics
I've been playing battlefield 4 for years and I never noticed the spread, I used just put whatever I unlocked last on the weapon and go but now I put the heavy barrel and potato grip (don't eat it) on all weapons.
This information should be available in game for players to learn 😕
No it shouldn't be. BF4 was one of the last games that actually required people to play and play and learn the secrets of mechanics through experience. Too many games now explain everything and the skill gap gets reduced. Sick of devs punishing the highest skill players by reducing the need for deep understanding of core dynamics.
@@EnkeiTenjin Ever heard of escape from tarkov?
Multiplayer then test range, there you go be happy testing loadouts
To me thats just weird, maybe if you only play ARs then alright, but you can notice this with PDWs, LMGs and even some carbines reeaaly easily
@@EnkeiTenjin cry some more that people are better than you
Love the video, it really helped clear some doubts
really well explained!
Not a bad combo tbh the stubby would help cancel out the spread and the muzzle keeps the bursts consistent
the gun works best with no attachments or angle grip
@@d1stopian Actually, I have now started to use Underbarrle rail + muzzle break.
I think describing recoil as linear and comparing it to others games that have recoil patterns; where the recoil follows a more complex pattern such as CS or Valorant. The tutorial is high quality and I'm glad to see it.
That's very nice of you thanks, recoil varies from game to game so you can't act like recoil is the same for everything.
I use heavy barrel+stubby because I value my bullets going where I'm aiming for longer
Very in depth video! Thank you for sharing! My question is, what attachments would you use for the ACE-23 and M416 for the assault class?
For the M416 I use Stubby + Heavy Barrel because its a gun that doesn't have much first shot recoil and overrall its recoil is quite minimal.
For the ACE-23 I use Angled + Heavy Barrel but sometimes just Stubby, torn between those 2 setups atm.
Great vid on the best game ever! Looking forward to more vids especially when 2042 comes out. Thanks again!
Flash hider is immensely useful on locker and metro btw
Maybe limiting scope attachments woulf make it easier to balance snipers as a whole for battlefield style games
amazing and informative, stubby meta. great video, you're very good at these kinda things X8PeterZ. seeya on the battlefield : )
Thanks Jordyy! Big fan of your videos mate its one hell of a watch ;)
Very informative video. I have playing BF4 for last 4 years, but never noticed about spread. I though noticed horizontal recoil on few gun.
Will appreciate if you recommend some attachments for M16A4 and AN-94 and M4 in burst mode
Just stubby on all of them, for me honestly works best.
The gameplay here is absolutely psychotic, I've never seen anything like it. I wish I had hands steady enough to aim like that.
Thank you, this helped
Maybe it's just me or maybe console is completely different, but from TONS of experience I have found that I'm essentially playing against lag, and nothing more. When they lag is going your way, no one can shoot you and your enemies go down quick - but when the lag is going against you, every single bullet will hit you, enormous suppression exists even when no one is shooting your direction, and when you go to shoot someone else the screen will begin to freeze-up and all kinds of other glitch-mania takes place.
So with the angled grip, and burst. It would instead decrease the last shot recoil? Reply would be MUCH appreciated
I regret not mentioning this as I straight up forgot to but, I tested this a lot and in complete HONESTY i never noticed a difference with it, so I recommend not using angled on burst weapons personally.
What about the ace 23? Let’s say it has no vertical and barely any horizontal recoil. What would you use on it?
Well from my experience on the gun Its extremely similar to the SCAR-H but with less first shot recoil and higher rate of fire. I personally use the same loadout as the SCAR-H on the ACE-23 but you can get away with using hbar and stubby on it as well, I just feel more consistent, basically i go through 4 loadout pre-sets on all my guns:
1. Stubby Only
2. Stubby and Heavy Barrel
3. Angled and Heavy Barrel
4. Compensator and Stubby
awesome guide thanks for the info
if only we could all get 700 FPS and almost 0 input lag. hopefully in 2042 DICE shows all the statistics of weapons and attachments with actual numbers and not just this bars like they have been doing forever.
Crt tv and or monitor
So wait muzzle break doesn't have the same stats as compensator? The in game description lies if so
just the video i needed dude thank you
Whats your cpu and gpu and your graphic settings ?
How would angle grip affect burst fire? Its useful for controller because recoil is harder to manage
Damn you're good at this game!
What about DMR attachments? As I really like using the SKS I wonder what you think about those ones
@@x8reaps Okay thanks mate
Appreciate it so much man
Respect and well done, the game is stonage old and everything well known to veterans. But its not ez for noobs to get the info from yt, as there were a lot of changes during the active phase of the game and a lot of vids not referring to the final state of the game. Do me a favour and explain them how to charge the defi🤣😂 well done again👏
Thank you nose with sneakers, this has helped me.
Definitely love videos like this one. And with all of the new players coming to BF4 it is very valuable. I'm a BF vet and still love videos like this one. I'd sit and watch a video two hours long if you ever did a video showing your preferred setup on ALL WEAPONS. Thank you.
my friend and I ran into you running that scar setup on lockers so we copied it. works very well
It's much more forgiving with an angled grip.
Would you kindly, to tell me , how did you put thoose ranks near squad hud?
Its in the advanced gameplay settings but I forgot what its actually called, its in my settings video on twitch if you type !settings in the chat.
Pretty useful stuff actually, but babe... what about shotgun? Real shit though I’m a new player and this helped me contextualise some of the stuff I’ve learned from playing, testing and sym, I’d be keen to see more if you’re keen to do more
M70 with buckshot and full choke
Ez game ez mapping people :)
Always full choke and buckshot imo are the best setups for any shotgun in the game.
Here's an idea... Don't use a shotgun and actually learn how to play the game.
@@EnkeiTenjin (pump) shotguns are balanced and are skill cannons. they punish bad aim and reward good aim. however, they have definite drawbacks:
-Fighting multiple opponents
-Worthless at range (and the most viable secondary for a shotgun, the .44, is only slightly less worthless at range)
-Worthless if the target is partially behind cover
-As said previously, worthless if you can't land your first shot consistently
-RNG dependent; shotgun pellets for the purposes of spread are treated as 1 "bullet". as spread goes up the dispersion of the pellets does not increase, but the chances that all of them completely whiff even though your aim was fine does. the dispersion of the pellets is affected by the chokes.
in all of those areas an assault rifle or carbine even would perform better. if you can't punish a shotgun user's missed shot then that's not shotguns being OP, that's you being bad. on close quarters infy maps pump shotguns require a lot of skill to use effectively, arguably requiring the user to know how to play the game more than someone using an AEK or ACE 23. on larger more open maps they are bad as while they are okay for defending/capping a point, they are completely useless at range. i strongly recommend watching Marbleduck's video on shotguns, as he goes far more in depth than I ever could.
(semi auto shotguns on the other hand, are completely broken as the fire rate negates all of a pump shotgun's drawbacks. but pump shotguns are balanced and skill cannons.)
@@pk-zi7lm not matter the game, if you use a auto shottie you're a bitch and a disgrace to the pump/lever action gang
Would you recommend running the the mx4 with heavy barrel + stubby or just stubby
tbh I never really used the mx4, but when in doubt, stubby only always, If u feel u can manage the recoil with heavy barrel then u can use it, make sure bursting is also consistent.
from what i remember the best attachment to use on it is either the stubby or the egro grip OR only the heavy barrel
Awesome video, looking forward to the same video for BF2042.
Great job
lmao i havent played this game since bf1 came out but what i remember is they fucked up all the attachments so i used every single lmg and carbines and AR with no attachments only a coyote site
They didnt fuck them up they just changed them, still highly viable using attachments
@@x8reaps well it didnt matter to me, bf4 taught me how to controll recoil therefore it really helped me in other shooters and i dont regret it lol. i was one of those kids who would always watch xfactor, matimi0, levelcap and so on. have about 250k kills and 60k deaths. i want to be a kid again so i can enjoy the beauties of that game cause i really spent so much time on it through summers, christmas, weekends and so on
what is the best setup for acwr? i can not find a single video that does not use a supressor.... that cant be meta
no barrel and stubby grip. FSRM is too high for hbar, comp (outside of famas)/muzzle brake/angled grip/flash hider/suppressor are useless. ergo grip is good but only in a few situations
Wait so hypothetically if you can handle the recoil why not run heavy barrel on the famas and aek?? Something about detrimental to burst fire??
Because it increases the recoils magnitude a lot, adding that on top of the first shot recoil makes burst firing far more inconsistent due to the massive first shot overrall recoil in combination with both, and in Battlefield 4 I find burst firing to be the most crucial thing, although some people do like using hbar and everything.
@@x8reaps I get ya it just throws the consistency of longer range shots out the window where you could still hit long range shots but not in all occasions
i started using the famas with just the heavy barrel, AEK with no attachment
