People love to dunk on this thing, but like Derek pointed out: It's not really much more expensive than any other sous vide, and this is excellent for the intended purposes. I did plenty of color film developing at home before I got this, but I've tripled my output since getting it because it's SO much easier to get everything at the right temperature. Mine only came with one of the bottle holders, too, but I've probably had it a couple of years now. I love this thing, really.
Mine only came with one of those acrylic bottle holder things. I suspect they're most useful with partially-full accordion bottles that would otherwise float around. In practice, I don't think I've ever used the bottle holder clips (except maybe once or twice when the device was new to me). I also somehow seem to have to defend why someone would want to spend extra on one of these, versus an ordinary Sous Vide, every time the subject of these comes up. That's even despite the fact that these are actually NOT significantly more expensive than the good Sous Vide sticks they look similar to. (Maybe our hobby is just filled with cheapskates who will find any penny they can pinch, whether or not it makes sense to do so?)
They had a lot of failures and related problems with this product when it first came out something over a year ago. Have they done anything specific to correct those problems? In general, these devices are a great way to heat and maintain the temp of a water bath which in turn controls the temp of your process chemicals, but it would be foolish (and unnecessary) to use it directly in the chemical solutions, which risks corrosion of its internal parts.
@@NicosPhotographyShow read carefully safety precautions and do not connect it to wall socket, until you put water into the marks. Minimum and maximum.
Yup, my issue is sometimes I develop in places with no hot water or keeping the temperature stable is not as easy without a Jobo or similar. This comes handy for a few situations.
@@NicosPhotographyShow chemicals directly? OK, thats a great feature. I think ordinary sous vide heater will corrode quickly when in contact with chemicals.

Like your new set, great look
Thanks Jonathan, its been hard to keep it a secret until today.
Everything is sold out on their website?
!?! 🤔
They are having supply issues during this time, but they do receive goods, just they sell fast.
Presumably you can slow cook meat with it too ;)
I cant lie the thought hasnt crossed my mind.
I got one of these last year and I love it, great for heating up colour chemicals to the correct temp.
So it's a sous vide machine for film. I didn't see that one coming
Its made home developing so much easier, specially color film.

Ssme. I have 1 acrylic plate
Jeje, ahora en Murcia el agua del grifo se pasa de temperatura hasta para C41
Bueno, he exagerado un poco... pero en plena siesta se acerca.
Exagerar es deporte nacional, yo te he entendido. Aqui por suerte en verano suele llegar como mucho a 22 grados.

I`m using it for heating water surrounding the bottles of chemistry
I'm using one oh this units from 2 months with successfull results
Thats great to hear. Cant wait to test this one.

Thank for the note. I guess the unit starts warming up the moment you plug it.
@@NicosPhotographyShow No it starts warming up when you turn on and finishing up settings.
and it comes with a Batman sign template!! (bottle holder) ;)
hahaha, two of them!
Sous Vide?
So much cheaper
@@tangyorange6509 Absolutely. A Sous Vide is about 50% cheaper if you can do without the plastic bottle holders
It looks a lot like the Gourmia sous-vide pod.
Its probably 50% of a current model with the added features from Cinestill.
Anyone else notice the fly?
I did. Sadly not before I was editing.
@@NicosPhotographyShow It added a nice flair to the new studio.
Never saw a problem with just using the tap haha

Film Sous Vide ;-)
Yup, with built in timer and different internals to withstand chemicals directly.

Yeah, seems like a nice feature. Going to test it all soon.
@@NicosPhotographyShow Could you please test its accuracy with a lab thermometer?
For E6 and C41 it should be very exact…
