good inputs XV, again! =) question to all: (laptop scene) what application is able to show such a rich detailed view of the mountain topography? technology! u wonderful double cutting sword, YOU! =)=)
Useful video Xavier. Would you mind to recommend brands and models for an avalanche kit? There are many brands out there and it will be nice to have advice from you and your expertise. We all be very grateful to you!!! Thanks in advance Xavier, and please keep making these useful videos. Much appreciated!!!
Hi, Thanks for your message, I have worked with Arva and ABS for many years now, I have always been really impressed by their gear and never had any problems with them, but it is a partnership so my response is not totally neutral, but with either of those brands you will be in safe hands. Hope that helps. XV
The emergency device is something I am developing and testing at the moment. It's called Resero Whistle and when you pull it it sends an emergency to the rescue and to selected phone numbers ( friends or family) and it tells your position, and all the informations about you so that the rescue know straight away where to look for you and what kind of guy you re etc... I will be available from next winter on!

Hey Xavier, I've got wayyyy more then one question for you but I just got into split boarding recently and have begun wanting to be able to map my lines beforehand.... what program do you use or website to do this? the ones I've found are all super low resolution. I saw the one you use in one of the videos (I think your drawing the line with a toothbrush lol)
Hey Jake, Thanks for your message - I know the episode, that is Fatmap, which is a 3D digital mapping program I use. I have a video about it too: How to use digital mapping, which might help you out. They have just launched the Alps in full wintery imagery and that you can map your routes on there, share them with friends, or just keep them for yourself. Enjoy. XV
C'est un systeme de déclenchement d'alertes. Ca s'appelle Resero Whistle. Je suis en train de le developper et ca sera disponible a la vente a partir de l'automne prochain.
Man I just love those contents! I really look up to you and find this super inspiring, so first of all thanks a lot! I think you could give us some advice on what to use to get info about topos and stuff... I mean Fatmap has only one resort in Italy and a few in France, do you use any other program?
Hi Michele, Thanks for your message really appreciate it. For info about topo - Fatmap are just about to launch their global map, so those that have been using it are currently getting to Beta test the global one, which is the WHOLE WORLD for summer and winter... which is pretty crazy (I know they are a sponsor of the edit, but I do really love the program and use it all the time). But, beyond Fatmap, I generally find out through talking to people, hearing about things, asking around and preferably getting a local person involved where I want to go to take me to the goods! If those aren't an option, there are a lot fo great online forums as well as Freeride books, that cover areas/regions and give a good guide to tours in an area. - I have a great one at home, which I currently can't find, so can't give you the title.. but if I do, I will let you know. Hope that helps. Xavier

Oh, I have no idea I am afraid. I use my Crosscall which has a really long battery life so is great in the mountains. But I know that with FATMAP you can download where you are going etc, so it consumes a lot less battery when you are in the mountains. Sorry not to be much help. XV

Awesome! Getting the Arva Reactor 24 for my backcountry excursions. Thanks so much for replying, you are my absolute favorite shredder, I love to point and shoot!
Hi Tom, Thanks for your message, for planning your first tour the ideal is to find a spot without exposure/faces above you that have the possibility to slide. If you stay on a ridge you have nothing above you so you know you will be safe from avalanches. Also wide open valleys are good as well. But if you do find your self in a place with skins on and an avalanche does start... it is definitely not a good place to be...
Hola, It is indeed tricky when a slab starts and that you are skinning. The only solution is to tour away as fast as possible and if there is a bit of a slope below you you can still glide away with the skins but it's definitely not ideal...
Toutes mes excuse, elles arrivent, il est juste difficile de un faire un montage, chaque semaine, de tout éditer et de preparer les sous-titres, mais ils arrivent.
Wish your videos were longer! Could watch these all day haha
Thank you Xv

So it's an advanced personal locator beacon/GPS tracker? That sounds pretty rad. Thanks for the info, look forward to seeing more about it!
YES IT IS. so if you get taken in an avalanche, or even disappear without having time to pull they can track you instantly

How large of a bag do you recommend approximately.
Hello Bigmack... I like to take 24 litres minimum....30 is great. I like bags that are long rather than wide.

If any body is coming to Japan for tour, emergency number in Japan is 110.
Thank you - always good to know the local emergency numbers. Xv
