In September 2022 Rob Warner signed off on the Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup. It had been his life for nearly 3 decades.
After a turbulent racing career he transitioned into being the sports commentator.
Raw and unsolicited it was the beginning of a new era of broadcasting. Through his unmatchable knowledge, enthusiasm and love of downhill he became the voice of mountain biking.
Fourteen blissful years followed, the sport growing almost as quickly as Warner’s ego before at the end of 2022 the unthinkable happened.
Robert Warner was no longer ‘The Voice’.
To say he took it badly is an understatement. He no longer knew who he was, or why he even existed. There was only one way through it. To go to rock bottom and start again.
In this candid documentary Canadian film maker Nick Van Berkel has access all areas documenting Rob as he’s never been seen before. From his most vulnerable to the start of him fighting back, this is a film sure to leave a tear in your eye.

UCI killed it. Decades of good work given to rookies. It is insane how bad it is coverd, even the camera settings are so beginner style. Shame.

Getting up at 5am to watch Peaty win the World Champs down under with you commentating was one of the best live sporting moments I've ever witnessed. Downhill's just not the same without you.
I'd half come to terms with the commentary for the world cups by the end of the year (accepted rather than enjoyed), but the 20 seconds of you commenting your run reminded me just how completely brilliant, unique and irreplaceable you are.

Been lucky enough to meet Rob a few times at races throughout the years and he's been kind enough to sign both my ATX1 frames. He is and always will be the face of DH in my opinion. No one will ever recreate the excitement or emotions you get listening to Rob commentate! Legend of the sport!!

I loved the trip you took with Hans Rey a while back, under very different circumstances. Two legends riding in Mexico! Anyway, it's great to see you laughing and enjoying your b*llocks off and interacting with all the young riders. I would definitely watch more of this type of content. My first hand memory of Rob in full on caveman mode was at a race early in my short career on the evening before race day and I was woken by the sound of a shirtless Warner on his crosser ripping through the camping field in the early hours!! Big respect for all you’ve done for our sport and I hope we’ll have you back where you belong before long!!

I pretty much can't say enough how we all miss you. I'd say you've made not less than any DH team/rider for this sport if not more. And you've achieved in your life much more than many of us could dream of. For a few years I always went to PB comments only too see people quoting all funny lines you said after DH world cups (he hits the ground like a homesick mole!)

This was so good. I’m so glad I started listen to the TRC podcast and your episode was the second I listened to. Thank you for being so real, not being afraid to shed some tears, and being open with your diagnosis. As a mid 30 adult now going through the process of getting an ASC/ADHD diagnosis I found myself agreeing and understanding so much of what you said. It’s awesome knowing there’s other people out there who have been in the same trenches as I am. I know I’ve got a long road ahead of me but now that I have some understanding of myself I can finally put a line under some things and move onto the next chapter of my life.
