Joel great review!! Question - Would you say the Metcon 8 is superior to the Metcon 9? I do mostly bodybuilding "bro-split"/with some functional training and Low Impact Steady state training. I have had the Metcon 2's, and currently rock the 5s but they are getting a little dusted! Looking to upgrade! Thanks for your awesome metcon reviews over the years and this top 5 for 2023! Cheers!
Thanks Joel! Thoughts on the different upper between the original X3 and the upper on the trippy tie die release? In between these and wondering if you tried the trippy Tie Die version
I have and train in both the Nike Metcon 9, and the Project Rock 6 by Under Armour. Although I like them both, the project Rock6 is my all-time favorite shoe ever!
To me the metcon 8's are better than the Metcon 9. Metcon 8's do have narrow toe box which is a downside and with the Metcon 9 they widened it finally which is nice, but to me the Metcon 8 just performs better overall and especially for squats and deadlifts.
Hi Joel, thanks for your great reviews and all the best for 2024! In the new year, could you maybe do a comparison of the Strike Mvmnt Haze Trainer and the Born Primitive Savage 1? They seem to be targeting the same kind of audience c.q. training style. Or maybe a more comprehensive comparison of the existing palet of flexible and lightweight training shoes.
Thanks! I can do that in vid form but the main differences amongst all the similarities is that the Strikes bear weight better than the BP's do, but arent as flexible throughout and don't have as good grip as the Savage's. Both are great for a minimal style trainer but I prefer strike.
Had to switch back to the nano 12. I couldn't ever get my 13s to break in. I will definitely try the savages next
Joel! You're honestly amazing! Thanks for all the reviews and solid info! From shoes to plates, barbells and more! You rock! We all appreciate you!
Dang Joel! You really cement yourself in as the top shoe reviewer with a list like this. Great work!
You can just say nano 2 while referring to the BP savage haha
under armour ua tribase white / sahara is this particular colorway, but I'm having a hard time finding a pair.
What about weightlifting shoes? Happy new year Joe!!

Happy new year!
What shoe would you recommend the best for squats and deads?

Now that I'm out of CrossFit (still love CF, just busy) the NoBull canvas trainer wins for me.
Which barefoot shoe would you recommend for hypertrophy training, sled pulls, and split squats?
@@DeePat-gd5so avancus, stoic, motus strength
@@AMRAP how about the notorious lift radix? Not ideal for my purposes?
@@DeePat-gd5so radix are good but the heel chafes pretty bad. I’d use them for slow lifts but for movement they’ll probably tear your heel up.

Nano X3 or X3 adventure?
Would you say the nano x3 or dropset 2 is better for running?
I feel like you’ve been a fan of strike movement any reason you left them off the list? Thank you for your info as always!
I just don’t reuse old picks - still one of my most used shoes though.
Brilliant work once again Joel! If you had your top pick of shoes available now regardless of release. What would be your go to?
Rad one is my usual goto
Bummer on Metcons… I’ve owned two pairs of the 5’s and could not get onboard with the later generations.
Thks Joel
What about Rad?
I don’t use previous year picks. Rads are still my most used shoe though.
Cool name Joe!
Puma nitro pwr sqd is easily the best everyday trainer I’ve ever had,🤗👍😁
I like much nano x3 reebok 👑or other name 😉 ( nano performance) , but I need drop 0
Nano 2 re-release should be on this list.
Born primitive made a better nano 2.

@@AMRAP thanks for your reply. Seems I should go for the Haze Trainers then :-).
The stitching of the heel ripped on the right and left of my nobull rec trainers within 3 days. Nice shoe, def not durable & terrible for running
