Fantastic collection you have. The sissipuukko is awesome, definitely one of my most versatile knives. I think if I had to choose my most versatile knife I would choose a different knife every day. It would be sissipuukko a lot of those days. Best sheath sissipuukko wins hands down always.
yeah for sure, choosing a different knife everyday would be the way to go! Even between these two, Wilderness Explorer and Sissipuukko, is hard to choose, both shines Still a bit in different fields: WE is better at food prep, fishing/hunting knife, Sissipuukko better at carving, batoning etc. Thanx for watching man!
I agree with your assessment: I think the puukko is going to carve better than the others, even the LT. Because of that one point, the puukko is probably the most versatile blade among those 4 in my opinion. Next for me would be the Canadian Belt Knife. That pattern was designed to do everything in the bush. Food prep, hunting and even simple notching, there's nothing better. But I'm not sure the modern day craze of carving stuff (aka bushcraft) was something that was in the mind of the designer. In those days, I think people (around here anyway) did not do a lot of carving etc. while in the bush. Mostly, back in the day, Canadians were out there doing work type stuff and would haul a spoon in with them (if they needed it) rather than carve one. But I'm probably biased! 🇨🇦 As for the Bark Rivers, I personallly see them as much less interesting and versitile than the other two for sure. But then again, I'm not really a fan and only own one.
Sissipuukko has grown on me a lot. These rankings change with use and new knives apparently. I thought Wilderness Explorer is the best actually, but Sissipuukko has taken over. Not the most beautiful blade, but just does everything you throw at it. So reliable, also with very balanced steel, and of course super sheath. And nøw yhe Large Northern Hunter has become my go to knife. Use it all the time, and loving the design more and more. Could be even thought as being the most versitale of all now, as I just dont see almost any field I wouldnt be happy using it. Thanx for watching man!
Wilderness Explorer really is a fantastic knife. I bought it because I just tought it looked so goddam nice design (well not only for that of course😃) . But yeah was kind of blown away how capable it was, and fell in love with the blade quickly..
I stick with Bark River #1 because I very much respect Mike Stewart and how he runs his business. #2 The warranty. Remember even the sheaths are 100% covered.
Yeah, Bark Rivers are great knives, used them a lot during the years, and continue using them. Mike Stewart is a genius knife designer, no going around that. Thanx for watching!
As in life...everything is a compromise or happy medium. My quest for the most versatile knife lead me to prefer a 5”ish blade with a saber ground convex or saber grind with a V-edge. And so far 3V has been my best balanced steel.
Hmm, coming from Finland I've gotten more used to scandis. But well made convex is equal to me at the end. The have their own benefits. Thanx for watching, have a great day!

Come to think of it, my most used fixed blade over the coarse the last 15+ year’s. The one that’s been used the most is a Fallkniven S1...
And Yes, I’m still jealous of your Wilderness Explorer...I use that same Explorer sheath for my Bark River Cub and BR Clip Point.

Love the sissipuuko. The bark rivers are not really available in Britain.
Yeah, the Sissipuukko really is kind of awesome. And I think it really at the end is my most versatile blade. Thanx for watching!

Well said!
well now i gotta ask. is convex better for you than scandi grind?
