    Use a plastic freezer bag over the filter after you loosen it , turn filter off as you hold bag over the filter and the bag will collect any oil with no spills , no runs ,drips or errors .

      that's a useful tip, but in this case it does not work. The oil filter goes in horizontal and does not sit in a vertical. But, that does work well for vertical style oil filters. IE: Ram 1500 2020 with 5.7L.

    Solid video - not sure when Ford changed things up, but I changed my 2020 F150 3.5 Ecoboost oil for the first time today, and it has a metal oil pan and a traditional steel drain plug.

      I don’t take my vehicles to the Rapid Oil Change places. They absolutely don’t care about your vehicle. They actually left the new oil out after draining the old. Luck would have it the low oil pressure alarm did activate and I caught it before the engine was ruined. The next time I went they told me my car was ready and I popped the hood and pulled the dip stick. The old oil was still there. The last time ever that I went there they left the dip sticks halfway out and the cover on the bottom hanging by one bolt. They are fired forever.

    Just did the first oil change on my 2019 F-150 w/3.5L built July-19 and it has a regular metal plug. I even stopped by O'Reily and bought a spare plastic plug before the oil change, but I'll be returning it.
    BUT I am ticked, what kind of sadist figured this oil change was okay? The plug drips right onto the anti sway bar, so you either have to cover it with something or wipe it off after to prevent drops of oil on your concrete. Then the set up on the oil filter is even more screwed up, you'd better park in the yard for the first few days after an oil change because there's going to be minuscule drops of oil coming out of that crap for days. They could have went to a remote set up like on the new Ranger.

    • @sandyshoremann7524
      @sandyshoremann7524 5 років тому +1

      If using a high performance, high HTHS polyol ester / poly-a-olefin synthetic like a Redline product, then a 5w20 grade would likely give you the most power and torque. Most popular synthetics sold in North America are NOT synthetic oil - even the lauded "M" brand. The Better Business National Advertising Board determined that processed petroleum oil could have similar - though not same - properties as some synthetics, So "Fully Synthetic Oil" labeling will be allowed for lubricants made with a majority % high group petroleum starters. Unfortunate for the consumer "Synthetic" is just an advertising term now, not the traditional SAE definition that we knew prior to the 1990's. So a Motorcraft Synthetic and Syn Blend are interchangeable here, though the "synthetic" product will be higher performing to some degree in some areas. Ecoboost use a 30 grade synthetic . I would use a "Euro" MB229.51 Approval ACEA 5W30 equivalent product in my ecoboost. Look on the spec sheet (PDS) for an HTHS between 3.1 and 3.5 cP for a hard working turbo application. - Sandy

    This is a piss poor design courtesy of Ford engineering. Each year the plug location changes and you have to replace the plug after 10 service intervals. Changing the oil on these after they are warmed up makes a huge mess because some year models the sway bar is in the way or other years the oil hits the front right inside tire.
