    @1:52 ATP is Broken into AMP and Pi,
    as a result
    @13:52 We subtract 2 ATP
    Energy balance when 1 NADH yields 3 ATP and 1 FADH2 yields 2 ATP, the Net Gain from 1 Palmitoleic Acid (16C) molecule is 129 ATP
    and
    Energy balance when 1 NADH yields 2,5 ATP and 1 FADH2 yields 1,5 ATP, the Net Gain from 1 Palmitoleic Acid (16C) molecule is 106 ATP
    Ninja Nerds!
    In this lecture Professor Zach Murphy will present on part 2 of this two part series on fatty acid oxidation. During this lecture we will continue our discussion on fatty acid oxidation and conclude this mini series, helping you to understand this complex process. In the activation step, ATP is converted into AMP not ADP. That's why when calculating the energetics you've to subtract 2 ATPs from the final tally. Then you would either get 129 or 106 ATPs as the final amount.

      106 is more logical . 1 FADH2 = 1.5 ATP & 1NADH = 2.5 ATP

      True.. The NET is 129 or 106(if we get so particular)

      How is it 2 ATP , wasn't the pyrophosphate taken from 1 ATP ??

    • @abhinavshankar414
      @abhinavshankar414 3 роки тому +26

      @@someone-yj2im it's because ATP(tri phosphate) is converted to AMP(Mono phosphate) and NOT ADP ( di phosphate) in the activation step. So, we consider it as 2 molecules of ATP.

      Ohh so we consider that for each phosphoanhydride bond broken is like using 1 ATP.

    Also another mistake in the first reaction ATP will be broken to AMP and 2 Pi in two steps ATP to AMP and PPi then PPi will be broken by the same enzyme to get the reaction completed, so effectively it is like using 2 ATP not one ATP because you broke the hell out of it and now you will need twice the energy of phosphate bond to produce it roughly -60k Joule/mole
