Everybody from outside the UK is asking for a broadcast online? I wish we received an answer. It was nice to watch the plays on youtube. Please bring back so people outside of UK can also watch.
I enjoyed watching Jane Eyre, Treasure Island, Frankenstein, and Amadeus. I wasn't terribly in the mood to watch the others, but I'm sure those were good too.
I would gladly pay to see this, but alas none of the international cinemas to screen this are anywhere near my location (Finland). Can we somehow pay and see it online PLEASE?
I was lucky to watch this performance in person, they were both magnificent. It was a privilege and I would love to watch this again. I hope NT will have some kind of a subscription service that is available worldwide.
I echo Ia Enstera and CJ Duden, Brandon Burns, ZenCy48 and many more.... PLEASE stream. We theatre lovers in Australia would love to see this. I'd gladly pay a subscription for such a service.
I was fortunate enough to see this on Broadway. Alas...it must be streamed for the whole world to see. it is simply brilliant. Ian McKellen gave the most wonderful stage performance I've ever seen.
PLEASE consider streaming these here like you did earlier this year, or provide a way to pay-per-view. Here in the USA things are horrible, our government isn't protecting us, and going to a cinema would be a death wish. These theatre productions have been a huge help in keeping sane through all this insanity. Please, the people want access to theatre but congregating just isn't safe!
@Bessie Hillum thanks for your opinion. Some of us are considerably more vulnerable than others and asking a company to make an option to be able to *pay to stream* isn't unreasonable. In fact, they ended up doing just that. Thanks for replying to a comment that is two years old though! Good show!
This was wonderful. I wish we could pay to see online. Theaters are closed due to pandemic and these NT Live showings are often at odd times/days/locations.
I saw this many years ago when Sir Ian and Sir Patrick were touring it with Waiting for Godot. It's completely brilliant. I hope there'a a way to stream it! None of the theaters in California are open.
You say the National Theatre needs money to continue, and countless many of us have responded that we are MORE THAN WILLING, nay, eager and enthusiastic to give it you, if only you would give us the opportunity. Why aren't you listening? This is a golden fundraising opportunity most other nonprofits dream of. As easy as shooting fish in a barrel. Come on, National Theatre- don't squander it to your detriment.
ALL OF THIS. I can't understand it. I WOULD PAY TO SEE THESE. In fact, I DID pay to see these - when they were actually showing in a theater near me pre-pandemic. But that ended long ago. Now, even if things were open, they don't show near me anymore. But of course, it's impossible right now, regardless. National Theatre, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY. Stop being withholding and stupid. It's not a good look.
I was lucky enough to get hold of a tkt when it was on tour a couple of years ago (it was sold out but my name was on the reserve list if there were any returned tkts) & it was a fantastic performance from all involved. Would definitely recommend seeing the play if you can 🙂
I would happily purchase National Theatre Live events or a subscription to be able to view them online. Outside here is still, appropriately enough, No Man's Land.
It's not even playing in NYC. I would have to drive 140 miles to watch it. I would pay to watch this online. I really hope you hear the audience and set it up.
America is still struggling with containing covid, and so the cinemas are not opening anytime soon. At least where I'm living. How I so badly wish I could see this.
There are still of lot of people who are not comfortable going into a cinema because they have been rightly shielding or they are in a. bubble with the same. People will find alternative approaches to cinema if theatres do not crack this distribution problem - even if you allowed cinemas to organise it for commercial reasons. And if the winter resurgence does occur cinemas will be taken away as an option and no one would have developed the required on line revenue model - It does not have to be free or donation based - people will pay.
Most of the comments on every video uploaded to this channel are people asking for a way to watch these plays from home. I am aware there is access to many of them on a service provided to schools and educational institutions only. As most theatres and cinemas are still closed, and many people unwilling to venture into them if they do open for safety reasons, why on earth would theatres not try to use this opportunity to launch a viewing platform that either works as a subscription, rental or download service? Being present at a live performance is undoubtedly a better experience, yet a significant number of people cannot afford the cost of a typical theatre ticket and having a way to view productions online would also serve them. I am self employed and work in independent performing arts, I have worked with performers in theatres of many sizes, and many of those performers are currently struggling financially, all that have recordings of their work are currently displaying or selling them and those that don't are trying to create online content. I would happily pay to rent a play for a fixed period of time, I'd pay for access to one of the previous streams hosted, or buy a download. If there is money to be made then take the opportunity, theatres must work to save themselves. The small businesses and independent side of this business is fighting hard to continue doing what they love, and larger theatre organisations have the privilege of recognition, status and a more affluent audience to back itself up, were I you I would take full advantage. If this is your intention, at least offer up some suggestion that it will happen in future
Right? What is even the point?? This is no longer "sharing art and culture with the world", it's playing the game of "I have something you can't haaaaaave'. It's not cute, National Theatre. Stop it. Make these available online for rental/purchase.
Please start to stream your live productions again. So many of us cannot get to the cinema or theatre at this time due to Covid restrictions. It is also be a vital source of funds, if you charge for viewing. It seems the National theatre is not listening to the significant number of people who are asking them to do this. They are past productions after all. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the theatre which was designed for the nation , opened up its “live “ performances again to those of us who cannot watch them by any other means. You want to raise money for the arts, well this is a missed opportunity. It makes the arts seem exclusive and beyond the reach of so many. The cost of cinema tickets is significant , let alone theatre tickets. Come on let’s lift the nations spirits and introduce new audiences to the arts.
It would be SO nice of you to explain WHY don't you bring 'National Theatre Live' streaming back, with a membership/or payment for everyone all over the world, since a lot of people actually are begging for this.
I want this on streaming or disc. It's such a bleedin' scandal that these shows are only available to so few!!! SURELY there must be a way to get it to other people and make money on it at the same time?
Wait, I don't understand. You get the best actors in the world on stage together, do a whole production, get multiple cameras and microphones to capture the performance, edit it, mix it, upload a tease of it to make people want it, and then do nothing. There's no way to watch this or buy it today. This is the whole channel, snippets of performances that most of us can't see because you're 5000 miles away. You do a live broadcast but it seems like there's wasted opportunities here.
Everybody from outside the UK is asking for a broadcast online? I wish we received an answer. It was nice to watch the plays on youtube. Please bring back so people outside of UK can also watch.
Yes please! Here in Los Angeles all the cinemas are closed and many of us worldwide must still shelter at home.
The nearest theater is ten hours away! And most theaters here are still closed. Please find away to make your content available online. We will pay!
Agreed!!
I miss it when National Theatre uploaded full plays for a week
I enjoyed watching Jane Eyre, Treasure Island, Frankenstein, and Amadeus. I wasn't terribly in the mood to watch the others, but I'm sure those were good too.
Me, too. I got excited a sec and thought it was back and that this was next:-(
I saw Amadeus with Lucien Msamati, and didn't realize it was a limited time upload. So glad I got to see it but oh how I wish I could see it again.
@@ShadowsofthePastTheater Does anyone know a way to watch these older plays online?
Any major A + theater-plays and musicals?
@@rolanddeschain6089 Not legally probably.
I would gladly pay to see this, but alas none of the international cinemas to screen this are anywhere near my location (Finland). Can we somehow pay and see it online PLEASE?
Any hope of ever bringing back national theatre live??
Could you please upload on YT, so all can watch at home? Or offer membership or a paid format to watch online. Please
Another plea that you make this performance that people all over the world want to see available for viewing at home for a fee.
I was lucky to watch this performance in person, they were both magnificent. It was a privilege and I would love to watch this again. I hope NT will have some kind of a subscription service that is available worldwide.
I was happy to donate to see NT Live on UA-cam, I know I am not alone! Please consider streaming plays again.
Oh would this were coming to National Theatre Live 🤩
I echo Ia Enstera and CJ Duden, Brandon Burns, ZenCy48 and many more....
PLEASE stream. We theatre lovers in Australia would love to see this. I'd gladly pay a subscription for such a service.
I'm still too medically vulnerable to go outside of my house but I'd pay to see this if I could stream it at home.
Take care brother. Om Krishanay Namh.
Yes, I add my voice to those wanting to pay a fee to watch this production, otherwise here in Peru it would be impossible to do so
I was fortunate enough to see this on Broadway. Alas...it must be streamed for the whole world to see. it is simply brilliant. Ian McKellen gave the most wonderful stage performance I've ever seen.
Oh my Lord... I must see this... please broadcast in Germany... Pleeeaaase! 🙏

This was wonderful. I wish we could pay to see online. Theaters are closed due to pandemic and these NT Live showings are often at odd times/days/locations.
They're also often on ridiculously small screens unless you catch the first airing.
Will be happy as well to watch this in NT Live.
Can somebody tell me how I can see this? I live in Korea and I miss the streaming😢
I saw this many years ago when Sir Ian and Sir Patrick were touring it with Waiting for Godot. It's completely brilliant. I hope there'a a way to stream it! None of the theaters in California are open.
I wish I could stream this. I saw it in London and it changed my life, I'm dying to see it again.
Please tell me you're gonna put this play on YT for a week!!...😭
is this going to be streamed on UA-cam as you did a few months ago or has that ended ?
You say the National Theatre needs money to continue, and countless many of us have responded that we are MORE THAN WILLING, nay, eager and enthusiastic to give it you, if only you would give us the opportunity. Would like to see this and the others but here in the US things are still a bit... not good. Would be happy to pay a small fee to watch them online.

I saw this live in Cardiff 2016, it was amazing!
I would happily purchase National Theatre Live events or a subscription to be able to view them online. Outside here is still, appropriately enough, No Man's Land.
I’ve wanted to see this for ages. I hope they put on these two in waiting for godot as well.
Saw the play live in Cardiff mesmerising absolutely brilliant
How I wish I could watch this...
Stage craft at its absolute best!
It's not even playing in NYC. I would have to drive 140 miles to watch it. I would pay to watch this online. I really hope you hear the audience and set it up.
I saw this in Berkeley. Simply amazing performances and production. Different supporting actors (Billy Crudup and Shuler Hensley).
"Have you any idea from what I derive my strength?"
His activated X-gene that grants him the power of magnetism?
Any word on if this’ll be screened in the UK?
I saw this production twice in London a couple of years ago. Is it available for viewing again on your site?
Barb ( Melbourne Australia)
I have been dreaming of seeing both this and their Waiting for Godot for ages, and, yes, I would be happy to pay to be able too see this online.
We don't have access to the cinema due to covid19. What a shame. But thank you for the trailer 🙏
Ohh wow can't miss this

Geoff Gibbons well said Sir
Nice. Bravo !
I wanna see it from romania...can't you stream it online?with a pawall
No chance in South Africa! Please make available via Netflix...
I want to watch this, where I can found this? Join the membership in NT live??
Wow. Albricias!
Would like to see this. Please consider sell it online. Thankss
I live in London - the nearest performance is showing as being Reykjavik....in January....doesn’t say what year 🤣.
Ok there is still no way to watch this online?

According to NAT website, four theatres in the world are playing this. Ok...
Right? What is even the point??

Oh my my my!!!!!! Finally!!!
Sadly, it will be a while before we go to the cinema again.
I would love to see these two in Samuel Beckett's "Endgame".
First! I’ve was looking to see this in the theatre but never got to see it myself! Thank you for posting this!
I have to say I saw this on Broadway. While it was a joy to watch these two chums working together, I didn't get the play.
I had a chance to see this play on broadway. I was even luckier this was my first show on Broadway.
*scratches head* So how do we get to see this?
Let us buy as a video through UA-cam.
Stupid to promote the trailer, then ignore the very reasonable comments!
*weeps in australian*
*weeps in turkish* :(
I thought this meant I'd be able to see it here in the UK! 😒

I saw this on my recommended videos and was delighted thinking that you all would be streaming this but... 🙁
X-Men: Retirement
We're in the middle of a global pandemic. Put the plays on line and I'll send you money.
