I purchased a white on red 2016 GS350 F-Sport nine months ago with 41k miles for $28k (original MSRP $58k) & has been absolutely fantastic so far, especially for the price I paid. Plenty of power & features & overall a huge improvement from my 2017 IS200t F-Sport it replaced with 70 more horsepower a much better sounding engine & has over 30 more features than that car did. The ride is firm, but mostly comfortable for how agile it is & gets even better at highway speeds. These are easily one of the best used cars you can buy right now in the $25k-$30k range.
Quite sad. Yea it didn’t sell well but I don’t think discontinuing it was the best idea. It didn’t sell well because obviously it hasn’t gone through a full redesign since 2013. They should’ve up-classed it and made it into a fastback/sportback to rival the likes of the A7/CLS. Imagine, if Lexus was able to pull off LC design in a 4-door sportback with the 5.0L V8, the A7 and CLS would be in serious trouble.
It didn't sell because the ES offers plenty of space and decent performance without giving up Lexus refinement for $10,000 less than a comparably equipped GS. RWD doesn't really matter when all you're doing is to putter around town at 5,000 miles/year.
My last ride will be a very long one. I got lucky to get the 2020 Blackline edition. It’s awesome. Some might say it’s outdated. Those who say that ,like to play with apple play. I don’t ! These cars rock and are bulletproof
Both IS and ES are outdated but GS is just too expensive for what it offers. Plus, paying 20k more for a car that has the same engine as the IS and the ES is why it is a dying model.
Problem of the GS is that no one is buying them. The competition caught up and the GS has been slowly standing still not keeping up and educated consumers know that. The 4 th generation GS almost didn't make it. This was a test run. It failed. Sadly. I had 3 GS's 3rd gen and this 4th gen style. I got a Genisis G80 sport 2018 3.3 365 hp turbo. That car has only 311 hp. Slower n smaller. The real F Is 465 hp. Somewhere in that and almost 90g. Negative to much $$ other good stuff out here for that 90g when ur done with taxes etc. Negative. It really never really sold like Toyota expected. Sadly. I did love mine tho. My Lexus dealer of 20 yrs told me in 2018 that this was happening and to go get a G80. I had 3 ES's and 3 GS's. I will tell you they woulda lost more if they continued to make them. My Genisis is better. I'm jus saying. I been driving Lexus since 1998. Until 2018. This is my experience and my opinion. Real talk.

I currently own a 2013 Lexus GS350 it's a very Good, Fun, and Reliable car. It's has all the options you could think off. I was very surprised that it's very FUN and Engaging car to drive as well. Going around the corner is very precise and direct. And the Exhausts sounded really good to.
@Mauricio Calero You should save up and buy one! Prices are going to be lower for the next 5 months at least. If I were ever to buy a GS, it would be one of the V8’s.
Really great review! Probably the best review I've seen on this car. Well informed reviewer and very thorough too. Btw, the sound inside the car isn't enhanced through the speakers. All GS 350 models (not just the F-Sport) have a sound generator on the intake that enhances the real sound. It's towards the rear of the engine bay and points straight towards the driver.
I wonder if Toyota will make another run of the Aristo after this generation is finished. I think the only GS for me would be one of the V8’s. I’ve never esp cared for V6’s. If they could produce more torque than HP (normally aspirated) I’d not be as bothered by them. Never driven a 300+ hp NA V6 that felt as strong as the numbers reported, because the torque numbers are always way less. That equates to feeling weak on full throttle pulls. Thanks for another great review.
Nice review, guys. I hate to see this sedan go away - I have a 13 GS350 and it is by far the best car I've had with its balance of comfort, build quality and performance. Driven a few BMWs over the years and the Bimmers are great in terms of performance but will crush your soul with repair bills. My GS has 90,000+ miles and the only repair beyond regular maintenance was a $50 replacement gasket for the sunroof that I put on myself. A superb vehicle all around. Hate that Lexus is killing it, but sedans are heading toward dodo bird status unfortunately.
I can hear the sadness in your voices as I feel just sad if not more myself. I slept on this car until 2003 when a family friend in Florida bought one brand new that year and I've been a fan of them every since. I'm sure most think slow sales is the reason the GS is getting kicked to the curb which is hard for me to fathom 🤔
I have a 2015 AWD and it’s smooth machine. It appears that the interior is the same these days. I really like the car and plan to keep it another 4-5 years. Perhaps by that time Toyota will come up with a replacement that sits between the ES and LS. Of course I’ll purchase it as a CPO.
Truly a beautiful car, especially the red leather - but sedans are fading away. Burger King Coupon Metric for measuring storage capacity a great touch, you guys! Thanks!
GS - great car/comfort/performance/reliability. Drives best in current line. Infotainment - not a problem, joystick works fine with practice and does all it needs to do. Little comparable on the market in this price range. Very disappointed to see it go.
Great video, thank you Car Confections!! Very nice Lexus, I love the red leather interior not a huge fan of the medal trim though. Would have wished it was carbon fiber .
I would've thought that the ES would go way first back then let alone the all might GS. I think Lexus got to compliance and didn't want to change with the time. It's shows by not even offering AA & Carplay in 2020. Not getting rid of that ugly joystick after all of these years. Just give us a damn touch screen 😁.
This does not sound as quiet as RX350... I was acutally suspecting Lexus implementing active noise cancellation on them when I went on the test drive...
The GS will always be remembered as the car that started the Lexus brand along side with the LS! It's unfortunate the Lexus is discontinuing the GS, & only because Lexus added the F sport package to the ES & that the ES was taking the majority of sales away from the GS which Lexus should have never given the ES the F sport to begin with! The GS will be one of the most reliable & dependable cars on the road for the future. Toyota's strategy of new partnering with BMW, Subaru & Mazda is the latest trends in the automotive industry since other major manufacturer's have been doing it, i.e: Chrysler & Fiat (which is the biggest mistake!) & even of 10/28/2020: Aston Martin is allowing Mercedes Benz to up their stake in the company from 3% to 20% for electrification of the new Aston models, go figure an english auto company is partnering with the germans for better automotive technology smh! The new up and coming cars that will be taking the place of the GS will be coming from Acura with their TLX Type S (which is going to make a big splash in 2021!) & also Genesis with the new 2022 G70 that will be coming out in 2021 (though I would be cautious with Genesis due to sources from South Korea that the Genesis models have major flaws such as: Oil depletion, auto start/off feature has caused the 2.5L & 3.3L & 3.5L engines to blow up & even when parked they had internal combustion occurring with the fusebox which is next to the engine & twin turbo's.)

Looking at the refresh of 2021 of Lexus gs350 model is a lot better however I’m not into the box style interior even though the exterior has a lot of dramatically body style and is longer which is very amazing to see.
Howdy, great review as always guys! I think Toyota/Lexus is making a huge mistake here! They really need to simply refresh it, bring back the hybrid, and make the new 2.0 liter turbo available. Also, I think that Toyota should never have gotten rid of Scion, but that’s just me!😸😻😸
Imagine if they didn't discontinue it, and Toyota/Lexus put in a sportier tuned version of their new twin turbo v6 hybrid that will be in the next gen 4Runner, GX, and Tundra in it and then add the same tech from the new ES in it. Financially, discontinuing this car was the right choice. Midsize Luxury sedans are doing very poorly.
It's easy for Lexus to say, demand for SUVs and Crossovers is the reason for the GS's demise than it is to admit they let this product get stale. I wonder if the IS will live on past 2021.
