How to Draw Animal Fur With Pencil Crayons - Beginner's Tips

- In this video, I show you my approach and technique to drawing realistic animal fur. This video is quite long, so check out below for quick links to certain sections:
0:35 - Talking about the pencil crayon brand that I use to draw with.
1:15 - Description on the medium, shadows and highlight colors that I use for drawing an animal with brown fur.

6:59 - Sketching out the pattern in the fur with the lightest warm grey pencil
10:22 - Taking my medium colored pencil and filling in the sections following the movement of the fur.
14:46 - Adding depth to the fur with the medium dark shade.
16:03 - Adding special colors to the fur.
17:05 - Building layer with the darkest shade of pencils.
18:40 - Filling in the white gaps with your medium color.
19:30 - Blending the white fur with the colored fur using a warm grey color.
21:13 - Using my darkest warm grey for the animal's features.
23:25 - Using lighter shade of warm grey to color in the white fur below the mouth.
Materials used:
- Sketch paper
- Faber Castell Polychromos; Medium shades = Raw Umber, Burnt Ochre. Highlights = warm grey I, warm grey II, warm grey III, white. Shadows = Burnt Umber, Nougat, warm grey V, black

From what I know, it's the same thing. I think it's one of those North American/British differences. Someone correct me if I am wrong. :D
