Hi Amie, sure would help me to be able to see the reference photos so that I could actually see what you were mapping out as that is the most difficult part for me. Great tutorial other than that!
I too would love it if you could update this fabulous tutorial with the reference photos you used too! Love your work, channel and wanted to thank you as your videos have helped me no end with my illustrations! 😉👍
Hi amie, since my dog has passed away I've really wanted to be able to draw a picture of her. Never having had ANY art lessons I found it very dificult to find videos actually explained what they're doing and why, this is so helpful. That curly fur looks like a high definition photo. I'll definitely be subscribing!
@@Amiehowardart it's so helpful to me that you commentate on everything you do and every detail you make. So many other people just say what they're doing if anything. And i can actually understand why tiny differences are so important!
Great tutorial! I tried your instruction and put my attempt in my studio vlog. It really does look softer and more like fur than my usual, baby oil blended, fur. I left a link to your video on my vlog post. Thanks so much!
Could you show your reference photo in your demonstrations so that we could see how you are translating one to the other? I know it would be really helpful for me as a beginner. I almost feel like there’s a step missing without it. Love your videos and your work is amazing. You rock and you make me hopeful I can do this too....to a degree anyway🥰
Thank you for sharing. I would love to have your reference photo up ,maybe in the corner as you work on each type. It would help me to See exactly what you are Seeing.... not sure if others would find this helpful....
Amie Howard Art thanks I bought the extra white and have had lots of issues it pills after using zest-it and a few layers of pencil. Never used extra white before so maybe its different so might try the off white again which is the one I always used and loved so much
Hello, I really want to learn but I'm Italian. All your videos are English. How can I follow you in my language? Can you set multiple languages for videos?
Hi guys! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial 😁 what types of fur do you find the most difficult?
Curly for sure!!!
Wavy
I don’t know how you can use such short pencils! I use pencil extenders, especially with the white as it’s practically an inch long these days 😂
Hardest- Curly and wavy both !!
Easiest- Short :)
Curly fur is so hard
This is the first tutorial that’s actually explained specifically what you’re doing, thank you!
So helpful, thank you for helping me improve my pet portraits. You are a unique combination: a good artist and an excellent teacher as well.

Will try to find the references, but they were all from pixabay and just small snippets of the reference :)
Great tutorial. Easy to learn and easy to remember

very cool
I enjoyed it :-)
It looks so easy, but I just can’t get the knack! 😕 I guess it’s more practice, practice, practice......thank you for your in depth instructions!
Lovely tutorial are you using new stock of the Fabriano Artistico or have you still got old stock?
+Brenda Milstein thank you Brenda :) this is the new stock and I’ve not had any issues with it

Great tutorial Amie, very helpful 👍 Thank you
34littleb Bristow thank you ☺️
What type are the pencils colors you use?
I think it is the Faber-Castell polychromos with some white Prisma colours
I'd better stick to the straight fur for now 🤔...Great tips though. Thanks again
Furs can be tricky! Studying negative space really helps, especially with the more difficult, super curly ones!

Isso nenhum brasileiro ensina
I see a Cow's head shape on the right of the curly fur, lol. Not intentional I'm sure, does anyone else see it ??
I so wish I had money for patreon, I'm to young to have a job
Thanks for you support here though! Comments, likes and shares mean the world to me :)
