BMW G310GS rider rides the Triumph Scrambler 400X. Highway impressions

- I have been riding the BMW G310GS for over 1.5 years and 25K kms. Today I test rode the Triumph Scrambler 400X on the highway. This is my ride impression of the two bikes back to back on the highway and an honest opinion one who should go for which bike for what reason.
This video is a little long but buying decisions of these machines are not easy as they cost significant amounts considering the Indian household's average income.
Therefore I have tried to share my candid opinions about my riding experience today so that you can make a better informed buying decision after assessment of your personal requirements.
On a concluding note, both are impeccable quality bikes and you will go wrong with neither!
Bon Voyage! Happy riding.

Excellent comparison. I’m a 310gs owner in the USA and have an interest in the scrambler 400. I think I like the wind protection I get on my gs and would regret switching to the 400x. The BMW is a more comfortable ride.
Thanks
Brilliant summary at the end! 🙌🏼
Thanks
Your bike is rev-locked at 6k RPM. This limiter is removed only after 1000 km, after which the bike feels substantially better at higher RPMs.
Biased review! I have ridden both bikes & triumph speed/scrambler is smoother than GS in any rev band. GS310 has exceptional ride quality in terms of comfort I will give you that. But it's no where close to the torque or punchyness of the Triumph 400s. The triumph may be only slightly better than GS310 in top end but the Mid range is unbeatable. Also has a sweet low end torque even though the engine has a sporty character thanks to the lovely torque band.
Stop justifying the GS310 in very sentence & start accepting the facts. Both the bikes are beautiful in their own way.
Loved the Speed 400🔥❤
Agree with your last sentence 🙂rest all I have mentioned somewhere in the video
No you haven't mentioned all what I said.
Which is btr and u will recommend...does g310gs hv traction control and abs ?does it hv sleeper clutch..?
How is the comfortable in normal day to day city travel 🧳🎉❤😊
GS310 has slipper clutch.. but the gear shift is not as smooth as the scrambler. It does not have traction control. Nor switchable abs.
It is a comfortable day to day ride. But is also significantly more expensive than the Triumph and to maintain too. You take a decision based on your budget, brand and service choice.
With the over-abundance of low-end and midrange torque the Triumph engine has, i'm always perplexed more people aren't gearing it up (maybe with 2 more teeth on the front sprocket) to bring down the highway RPM. I think that the Triumph at least has that potential which the GS doesn't
Could not agree more. It also has a bigger heart ! However a change in drive ratios might rob off some of the low end fun isn’t it ?
@@arindwanderer yeah but I have a feeling it will still be more than adequate for everyday use
Agree.. the 2,3 & 4 gears of Scrambler is very short geared.. a tooth less on the rear sprocket would make it perfect. At times it's hard to put down the power in these 3 gears. The engine has more than enough low-end to compensate for little higher gearing..
GS is vibration machine. I won both scrambler and GS. Scrambler is better for bangalore speed breakers and potholes..
Hi, rented a scrambler 400x and rode for a day. Found it very hard to maintain 100-120 with all the vibrations. Whats your take and how do u manage?
That will be the case with all 400 cc plus singles I guess .. I haven’t done very long rides yet .. we all have different tolerance levels for vibrations .. if that is the case better to go for a twin
Sorry but this review is more like justification for buying GS than enjoying what scrambler offers
Everyone buys bikes based on their own priorities. I have tried concluding in the end. For me a switch is not justified but as a fresh buy probably is which isn’t my case. For a switch I would probably look at a higher segment
@@arindwanderer This is not about which bike "You" want to upgrade to it's about the bike review. Being a reviewer you should have a neutral approach when making the comparison. All I see in the video is owner bias. Any sensible rider today knows that the Triumph Scrambler 400x is much more VFM than BMW GS310.
The way you are defending the GS310 looks like you are giving yourself consolation for some regret. 🙂
