Woodturning a Resin and Milliput Enclosed Bowl - Easy Wood Tools Special

  • In this video I create a large hybrid blank from Idigbo wood, epoxy resin and Milliput and turn an enclosed bowl with a difference. I came up with this project as a way of demonstrating the new Negative Rake Tips from Easy Wood Tools. These tips were especially designed for resin work as they greatly reduce the chance of chipping out the resin. I usually use a mixture of traditional and modern tools for my turning but this project was turned using Easy Wood Tools only.
    Easy Wood Tools are available in the UK fro Amazon.co.uk

    The resin used is Clear Top 35 Epoxy resin from MBFG

    Yorkshire Grit Original and Microfine

    Milliput epoxy putty. The blue colour is a trial colour only and not yet available.

    Cellulose sanding sealer and microcrystalline wax are from Chestnut Products, check out the woodturning weekender planned for next year

    Great bowl Jim. You did a better job with the clear resin than I did on my next project. I don't have the buffing wheels or the micro fine..

    • @JimsonMakes
      @JimsonMakes  6 років тому

      Thank you very much. The Microfine works very well on the resin and it is well worth getting a couple of buffing wheels, useful for lots of things. Cheers, Jim

    Fantastic! I love the overall effect it's stunning. I'm definitely going to have to try milliput and resin in a project...I've only ever used resin as a thin covering on wall art so I'll be doing a little research. Thanks for the vid and the inspiration Jim. 👍😁

    • @JimsonMakes
      @JimsonMakes  6 років тому

      Thank you very much. Choose a slow set resin when using in larger volumes as it does not overheat so easily, not usually a problem with wall art. Cheers, Jim
